Really hoping these turn up on demand. I take it back - the late '70s location work (which is top-heavy in S1) is understandably grainy but the studio stuff is definitely cleaner. Amazon is maybe 5-10 mins behind Plex. Pissed I missed the beginning and that my work schedule won't permit me to watch. Ugh. We need it on streaming in a traditional sense.
August 14, 20241 yr Member I forgot how well Val was written and treated in these early episodes. The Lie just played.. and while it was a great showcase for Laura... Val had some great scenes throughout the episode.. and the best scenes were where she wasn't saying anything.. it was all in her expressions. Lots of subtext... something the Latham's would know nothing about.

August 14, 20241 yr Member I don’t get these FAST services which don’t have a regular schedule. It just doesn’t work for a serialized show like this. Just run one episode per day at a certain time (and they can repeat that same episode later in the day). And if they want to do marathons, that’s what the weekends are for.

Eventually if they want the channel to succeed not only, they will have to have some sort on-demand option but other shows as well i.e. Dallas, Sisters, and other Lorimar/WB primetime dramas.
August 14, 20241 yr Member Yeah, I'll dip in when I can, but I'm not going to sit and binge watch KL 24/7 either, lol.

These streaming channels aren’t really about trying to make a successful programing block, they’re just utilizing space with old content that would collect dust otherwise. The channels that can pick up 10k or so viewers consistently are considered easy wins and they don’t care about the audience watching all of the episodes because the show will play on endless loop for ages anyway. CBS used to put more effort into actual blocks until they realized they got more consistent viewers running one series on repeat.
August 14, 20241 yr Member Dallas is 'on demand' on Freevee... Dynasty is free to watch on Pluto TV. I think this is a first step for KL to see if it can obtain some interest in the streaming era. They were successful in reruns back in the 90s/early 00s on TNT.. and even did ok on SoapNet... but no attempts at streaming have been done in the states that I could see. In this method, you make a bit of coin showing it on a loop on the Primetime Soap channel.. and if something happens.. then we'll see it on a streaming format like Freevee On Demand.. or something like that.
August 15, 20241 yr Member On Plex, they have a Knots Landing page where it looks like you will eventually be able to select individual episodes from different seasons. They just have not uploaded the episodes yet. Maybe they are letting the series play all the episodes on the Primetime Soaps channel before allowing viewers to stream the individual episodes they want.
August 15, 20241 yr Member I'm guessing they might be trying to have people subscribe to the live channel first before putting everything on demand. But hopefully it'll happen after the first run through, but who knows. Although, looking at it, Plex has a lot of pages for a lot of tv shows that aren't streaming so some might just be automated. A selection: One for Homefront: https://watch.plex.tv/show/homefront Also one for Flamingo Road: https://watch.plex.tv/show/flamingo-road Cane: https://watch.plex.tv/show/cane Berrenger's: https://watch.plex.tv/show/berrengers 2000 Malibu Road: https://watch.plex.tv/show/2000-malibu-road Yellow Rose: https://watch.plex.tv/show/the-yellow-rose Emerald Point NAS: https://watch.plex.tv/show/emerald-point-n-a-s And so on... I guess there's some shows that don't show up (like Freshman Dorm or Kings Crossing), but it makes me wonder how many of these will ever find its way there.
August 15, 20241 yr Member Oh, I will be over the frigging MOON if Plex airs "Homefront." Everything the Lechowicks did wrong on KNOTS, they did right on "Homefront."
August 15, 20241 yr Member Pretty sure a lot of those Plex pages are automated. The stream has warped ahead to S8, apparently because of a name error - eps in both S3 and S8 named "Reunion". @DRW50 will be pleased to know the Jessica Walter episode has apparently caused this. If it gets more people to somehow search out that episode I'll be glad.
