Exactly.

The. Shi.t. Makes. No. Sense.

Deeedee, you are assuming that soaps make sense. Which none of them do.

So in that sense, I can see it being true just so TPTB can f.uck with us some more

And that would make sense

LOL.

Right.

The shi.t still makes absolutely no sense.

It's an intensely unnecessary, extremely character assasinating retcon.

Esther is Katherine's long time slave/maid. Years ago she was knocked up, I think by a con man after Katherine's money. Katherine doing what we now know to be her regular MO, convinced Esther to, or took it upon herself, to give the child Kate away to a nunnery/boarding school so that Esther wasn't distracted and Kay wasn't inconvenienced by her bastard brat.

I actually hope this spoiler is the way they choose to write it. Chloe hasn't met Esther and it is believable that Katherine, having no interest in anyone but herself, would never have bothered to look at a picture of what Kate looks like today. Esther has gone to visit her a few times, so she would know her own daughter. A lot of people have suspected that Cane is not Chloe's end game and this would shed a lot more light on what made Chloe the way she is. Picture this, after years of feeling abandoned by her mother, because she's being held captive by the evil old witch she plots her revenge. First step is to change her name, especially since she was named after the evil old witch to begin with. The next step is to track down the prized children, the grand children who are always welcome at the castle. First she tracks down Billy and gets to know him. Maybe develops a friendship and engages in a fling. Once she's ingratiated herself to him, she goes to Genoa City complete with a new name and a fashion job to get to know the other one. This one is a little trickier since he's involved with a debutant who everyone is bending over backwards to turn into a perfect princess. Despite much plotting and attempts at seduction she's having no luck with Prince #1 and hightails it to Hong Kong to get knocked up by Prince #2. Back in town baby implanted, she sets upon her end game to establish herself as Chancellor Princess and free her slave mother from french maid outfits and the evil old witch.

So if katherine kicked Kate to the curn like trash when she wass young how would she know Chole was Kate. This whole deal-eo now makes perfect sense and sopunds liek a great storyline!

Katherine assasinated her own character when she threw katie away like trash. If Chole is Katie this would be what's called payback!

I'm just going by what's been posted because i'm a new viewer. However it seems to be fact that kate didn't live with her Mother and that katherine was the reason why. So i could see how that would make her upset. It's more reason than most soap characters have for plotting revenge.

Don't. Think. So.

And even by neglecting the backstory: since when was there a smart male in soap opera land???

You know the old saying two ugly people make cute kids. Maybe two stupid people make smart babies.

I've seen stupid people make smart kids and smart people make stupid kids. Sadly it is the luck of the draw. As for Katherine when has she ever mentioned going to visit her beloved niece Kate? Esther has mentioned visiting once or twice. Hell, Katherine didn't even remember giving away Jill's baby, why would she remember that Esther has a kid?

Several times.

Hell, Katherine didn't even remember giving away Jill's baby

Katherine didn't remember giving away Phillip because she was drunk.

Big Difference.

This is ridiculous!! I saw this somewhere else as well, and if it is true, I think it sucks! Devon gets a s/l and it's getting cut short once again for this twit Chloe??

I always thought Liz Hendrickson should've been brought on as Kate, but considering she wasn't I'd just forget it. I don't know how they'll explain no one figuring it out considering her storyline involved the Chancellor's. Esther's nosy ass would want to meet that homewrecker. And Jill would've gotten all the dirt she could find on Chloe by now. How will they swing this?

How will they swing this?

By wrecking legacy characters to prop newbies.

The same way TPTB did with Cane.

This Chloe spumor even showed up on usenet today...which rarely shows such stuff (unless I post it :) ).

This is spreading pretty virally, but I still concur that it is bunk. I'll be disappointed if they go there, even if it has promise. My main reason for disappointment is, as said here, I don't believe Kay wouldn't know her namesake, or that Esther would not be in close touch with Kate.
