I would have totally watched them together on that night! Even if the LHOTP was full of Laura and Almanzo mush.

I wonder how FR would have faired if paired up with Little House. LH was without a doubt NBC's biggest hit at the time, even if it was winding down. If they'd moved Flamingo Road to Mondays in January 1982, maybe it could have been granted another season.

Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for a DVD release.

That is too funny. That would have been like The Waltons being on in the time slot immediately before Falcon Crest (but then, both shows were owned by Lorimar and created by Earl Hamner, so maybe it's not that bizarre after all, LOL). Hey, I personally loved the Laura/Manly "mush" and think Dean Butler could have really made a splash had he gone on to a primetime (or even a daytime) soap. (He is still mighty good-looking for a man in his late 50s, by the way!!)

Speaking of LH and FR - true story: I went to the Little House Reunion & Western Film Festival that was held in Tombstone, AZ, in the summer of 2005. Stella Stevens was the first of the actors to be introduced (as they introduced the non-LH actors first) and on her way up to the dais she tripped and nearly fell flat on her face. Thankfully, she was rescued by a few of the fans dressed in cowboy garb who caught her before she could fall. Ms. Stevens had a good sense of humor about it, though. She came across as a very happy, spunky lady.

Absolutely. In regards to Morgan, it seemed like a true personality clash, whereas Filerman was just awful.

Interesting how the writer characterized the first season as Lane-focused and the second season as Constance-focused. It's been over ten years since I've seen the show, but I honestly don't remember it feeling focused on either woman more than the other. The first season was especially balanced.

Thanks!!! I'm gonna jump right into it as soon as I can. I never did get to see the last three or four episodes.

Just skimming through some of the eps, I'm reminded of how lush and beautiful the music was. IMO, all of the primetime soaps of the time had great, great music, but FR's roots as a 40s movie are definitely reflected in its melodramatic scores.

Rita Lakin's Flamingo Road is worth watching. I've only had time for an episode or two a week, but I am truly enjoying the show. Howard Duff, Stella Stevens, Mark Harmon, Morgan Fairchild...what more could a soap fan want?

I'm only up to episode 4[just finished], but I didn't expect it to be this entertaining. There aren't more than 30 or so episodes, and I strongly recommend 80s primetime soap fans to give it a shot.

      I totally understand your sloths concern about it and I agree with you. Let’s hope the show plays it’s cards right.    Further comments about the last few episodes: - I liked that one of the attendees was filming the scene. That’s realistic. I wonder if the writers will follow up with that.  - Martin and Smitty trying to drag Leslie out was very heteronormative, so perfectly in line with them two as characters lol.    As for the future: it’s obvious the Duprees will come to accept Eva one way or another, but the rivalry with Kay should be here for the long term   On the topic of acting: the only bad actors I’m seeing are Ted and Derek. Tomas hasn’t proven to be either good or bad, so far, but he’s certainly mediocre and uncharismatic. He sucks the energy out of the scenes and I don’t see any couple of women ever vying for him.

      I’m trying to think which actors VW were working with at the time, and none of them had been there for a while. Even like Mac and Ada didn’t have that big of a part in Rachel’s storyline.  And Jamie was involved with all that movie stuff.

      Brooke did ads before ATWT too. That probably helped get her the job. After ATWT she seemed to branch more into hosting, along with ads.  I think I saw Kelley in an ad or two, but you're right she wasn't on as much.

        Thanks for sharing these. I wonder if Charles might have been in the running for Adam. I know Preacher was a bit of a bad boy at times on EON, but Neal seemed to be a step down, and Robert Lupone had played a similar part on AMC. Given the huge cast turnover at this point I wonder who thought they had been there long enough to go.  Laura Malone/Chris Rich would get a remote within the next year.

      Under all of Madonna's social media today there is this wave of negative, toxic, absurd comments by Lady Gaga fans telling her how Gaga surpassed her in concert in Copacabana. I mean... Who the hell cares? Why are these fan communities so freaking toxic??? I'm sure Madonna doesn't care... But still. Have some respect for M. Leave her social media alone. Go cheer Gaga and be happy. Why come and spew hate on M??? Crazy world.

      FYI, again, Ruth/Letitia is not in either of these 2 episodes. So that concludes the 4 episodes I had from Nov. 1983. I don't have the October episodes.

      Eddie has begun uploading the 1990 episodes. I'm so happy about that. I was mindfully taking a break till there's plenty of episodes I can binge watch when I feel like it. Now that 1989 is complete... I can't wait to press play on February 1989 and resume where I left off.
