I wouldn't be surprised if Georgie Stone only agreed to return to wrap up Mackenzie's story. She was planning to leave before the show was canceled.

I think they got a lot wrong with Toadie and Mackenzie in the revival (and so much of Haz's story was terrible - a misuse of a cute actor).

I didn't realize until talking to fans about this that she had planned to leave before the show was cancelled. The Toadie actor said he'd wanted to leave as well, but ultimately the show made the decision for him. My issue with this is that if you knew you weren't going to keep these characters long term, why center so much of the reboot around them? Mackenzie, Haz and Toadie have had more screentime than almost everybody. I wish for characters like that they'd treated it more like David and give them an arc, but not make them the leads of the show.

For long term viewers I'm sure it'll be easier because they're used to the turnover and also got to enjoy these characters longer than I did. Now I'm left disappointed because they were what was keeping me tuned in. I'm going to stick around, but I'll definitely miss Mackenzie and Toadie in particular.

Same thing with Takaya Honda.

I know Neighbours has recast roles in the past but they seem not to recast as much as USA soaps do. That can be both good & Bad

Yeah, I'd say both UK and Aus soaps recast less than US soaps.

I'd say the one role on International soaps that gets recast the most is Ben Mitchell. That role is the Billy Abbott of International soaps.

I don't watch the other UK soaps, but I'm wondering if EastEnders tends to recast more than the other UK soaps. There's been quite a lot of Peter Beales as well.

Peter Beale:

  • Francis Brittin-Snell (1993–1996)
  • Alex Stevens (1997–1998)
  • Joseph Shade (1998–2004)
  • James Martin (2004–2006)
  • Thomas Law (2006–2010, 2023–present)
  • Ben Hardy (2013–2015)
  • Dayle Hudson (2020–2022)

Ben Mitchell:

  • Matthew Silver (1996–1998)
  • Morgan Whittle (1999–2001)
  • Charlie Jones (2006–2010)
  • Joshua Pascoe (2010–2012)
  • Harry Reid (2014–2018)
  • Max Bowden (2019–2024)

Both have seen their share of recasts, with Peter recast one additional time (likely due to a 1993 debut over Ben's 1996). Plus, unlike any of Ben's portrayers, Thomas Law is in his second tenure playing the role.

I love this soap but sometimes it throws me how they can go thru multiple days in just one 25 min episode. US soaps would never do this.

Just wondering if our American viewers have ever seen Bouncer's dream from 1990? 🤣

Thanks. I've heard of it but never watched the full scene. That's very sweet. Wish they did that type of silliness now.

I thought it was illegal for any wedding video to be played on Ramsay Street that wasn't Scott and Charlene.

I generally find these more enjoyable than the show at present.

Rebekah looks amazing with the darker hue on her hair!

I've got to catch up so bad.
