Defend him? No, because the story is too stupid to defend. It's [!@#$%^&*]. It's not worth the time.

When a story sucks, I don't bother defending, I just check out.

And when kids or animals are dredged up to make us jeer, that's when you know a story sucks.

I wish I'd never bothered starting the show back up to be honest. It's become a plot-driven mess with just a few highlights.

I managed to see the new Summer promo on YouTube about the upcoming disaster/stunt using HOLA, a VPN. It doesn't give away what the disaster is, but everyone is in black going to some sort of festival/circus type thing. Suprisingly, Andy and Chas are not in the promo, but we know they are involved becasue the director has mentioned them on Twitter. Everyone looks fantastic, which is a marked improvement over the last one that had them dressed like clowns, ironically enough.

Chas and Andy aside, it does seem like those who aren't in the promo have a better chance at dying. This seemed most obvious because they randomly included Dan and Ruby in the trailer, but no Ali. Unfortunately, our girl Leyla is not in it, but David and Alicia are which adds to the fears that she may die. Since Priya/Rakesh/Kirin are involved, I'm thinking that Vanessa will probably lose the baby. On a better note, Marlon isn't in the promo so maybe I will get my wish that he'll meet his maker. Sorry (not really) for being relentless in my hate, but sometimes you just can't help these things.

If it were well-written darkness, then I would complain, but also respect it in some way, but it's just [!@#$%^&*]. I've seen far better plotting in porn. It's an embarrassment. If not for the old episodes I keep watching (and uploading what I have of those years) I would walk away in rage. I know this is a soap, it's not real life, don't take it seriously, but it doesn't have to be THIS stupid and THIS cheap. And the awful destruction - for what exactly? For some pointless melodrama that never raises the ratings. Or for some stunt we're supposed to care about because people wander around in black like they just got out of some arthouse movie?

And none of it will ever have any consequence, because nothing on soaps ever do now. I just don't get it. Why?

I'm the idiot for ever expecting anything better.

I'm so grateful that you, and some other kind souls, have been uploading old episodes. It's been such a treat to watch them. And compared to today's soaps the difference in quality is immense. Yes, it was slow-moving, and maybe some of the acting wasn't always of the highest calibre, but the stories were realistic and interesting. Stories like the collapse of Joe's marriage to Christine Sharp, or when Seth's son Jimmy and his wife visit Beckindale, and Jimmy tries to hide that he's been in prison. Character-driven stories that didn't rely on plot but told the stories from a more human perspective.

Thanks. You're one of the reasons why I started.

The saddest part is there is still that quality in the show now, sometimes - that makes it even more frustrating.

When was the story with Seth's son, BTW?

I would think so, yes, but then if other characters can do whatever the hell they want and get away with it, he probably should get the right too.

I would guess, just speculation,

he will stay around via inheriting Lawrence's money, or part of his money, then continue to be a boo hiss villain for a few months until the Katie stuff comes out.

Given that it looks like the family and Adam won't even get much of a reaction to the affair (which is treated as a big shrug in those spoilers), I wonder if the Katie thing will get any more of a reaction.

The show is so desperate for ratings they've cannibalized any impact any of these stories could have had. And the ratings are flat or getting lower. That's what happens when you are all plot all the time.

Yeah this sounds stupid. I started watching this because the Robert/Aaron story was interesting. I liked all the history with this show and them bringing back a Sugden (reminds me of guiding lights decimated Bauer family) - Robert is probably my fave character. What a waste !!!

It started here in episode 527, which originally aired in May 1979
