Thanks for posting that.

I'm glad that Kat and Pat were mostly on the sidelines. Few things drive me crazier with EE than the years they had Ian act like some type of jerk to make us feel sorry for other characters, and the scene would have to end with him twirling an invisible mustache or being degraded -- as in that odd thing where we're supposed to believe she could pick him up and literally throw him out of the pub all on her own.

I don't even know if they had anything planned. Peggy was gone for a good while before Den popped back in, wasn't she?

My PBS affiliate is currently airing this horrific stuff from 2003 with Joanne (Louise's nanny) pining away for Phil as he and Kate are engaged...

They must have had something on the drawing board though -- I don't mean a story for them together, but the characters at least meeting. Den's return had been in the works for months and wasn't Barbara's absence sudden?

The 2003 episodes I've seen have their ups and downs. Some I enjoyed and some I cringed at. I actually liked Kate and Phil quite a bit, but Joanne is absolutely terrible. The most bizarre part is the stuff where she slept with Dennis but doesn't really want him but does want Phil. Come on. The way they set up Dennis as a lady killer was a bit strange...aside from Kat, his taste in women was Joanne and Tracy.

I love this scene between Chrissie and Kate.

Chrissie was such a fun character. I mean, she could be nasty, but she also had this dark and hilarious sense of humour to her. Remember when Sharon thought Den was still alive, and in order to stop her from going to Spain, Chrissie was practicing a sob story in front of the mirror that she could use on Sharon to stop her searching for Den, and Sharon unexpectedly walked in and startled her?

Starts about 1:58 in:

Thanks, I'd never seen that. Chrissie should have known that when it was time for Letitia Dean to take a break nothing was going to get in the way.

I didn't know Sharon ever dressed that way at this point. I thought after her 2001 return she usually wore the more mature clothes, the black pantsuits or such. This outfit and hair is old school Sharon -- old school like 1986! I like it though.

Chrissie was a great character. As a few people have said, she brought electricity to the Vic, which is something that has been lacking in more recent years.

Here's a Slater Sisters revealed special that chronicled their first year on the show and the lead up to the epic and memourable Kat/Zoe reveal:

Thanks for posting that. I will watch it all in a bit. I'm glad Eastenders have kept doing those. I know that they used to do many more (because there was that whole channel, Choice or Switch), on a lot of topics, like introducing new characters or on a day in the life. I'd like to see that again. But at least they still keep doing them. Corrie used to do these back around 2003-2005 but then stopped, which is a shame. I think Emmerdale used to have a few too. I think they're interesting to watch because you want to hear more about what those behind the scenes have to say, even if sometimes you shake your head at their arrogance. And then in some cases hearing what they have to say is the only way that a story makes sense...

Belinda looks like Rachel Griffiths in that quick shot of her.

It's interesting that Tony Jordan says creating the Slaters was easy because they're fun. You can kind of see that confidence onscreen, from the start, and I think that's one of the reasons they worked from the beginning. They just seemed to click without any big forced effort.

Oooh, the iconic Kat/Zoe "YOU AIN'T MY MUVETHER!" ..... "YES I AMMMMM!!!!!" episode is up.

The did such a great job of setting this story up the moment the Slater's arrived. I remember Kat's strange protectiveness of Zoe, and the looks Kat, Big Mo, Charlie, and Lynne would all exchange when it involved Zoe or drama that was going on between Kat and Zoe.

Other than the big reveal, I loved this episode as a whole. It was Lynne's hen night and so many of the show's iconic female characters were together. The Slater Sister's, Dot, Peggy, Pat, Sharon, as well as Natalie and Lisa. Belinda is also hilarious in this episode.

It's no surprise that Tony Jordan wrote it. He also wrote the Kat/Zoe two-hander that was the follow-up episode to this one.

Barbara Windsor's first television interview since her exit:

She admits Peggy was supposed to be Archie's killer, but her announcement that she was leaving changed story plans.

    • I skipped most of Daniel too. I think it's awful he has kids with Nicole, Csrky5 and Chloe and Brady, Bo and Philip do not.

    • Today was very focused on Bo and his illness.  I’m liking how everything is ultimately tied together, even though everybody doesn’t know it yet. The EJ connection seems a little sudden and random though. I’m guessing that that was not on Ron’s agenda. And I’m not really sure why any of these rich people couldn’t help the hospital months ago lol  But I really like how the whole sepsis drug thing is being written a lot more realistically than what we’ve grown accustomed to with Dr. Rolf and all of his wonder drugs. They’re definitely putting more of an effort into this storyline. It feels more real.  Philip was a little whiny and self-pitying today, but I also feel like the writing has improved for him as well. He’s coming off less like a villain and more like a tragic hero. I enjoyed his scene with Stephanie and hopefully it means that at some point, we’ll get a revival of Philip/ Stephanie/Alex. Tying it to Stephanie’s novel could be really good. And, the dorkiness of Xander and Sarah was really sweet too. I’m looking forward to their weekend together and what secrets may or may not come out lol

You're in the same category of the hacks that sell paintings with a single dot for thousands or even millions of dollars.

    • I have to check out his Bela Garody on Search for tomorrow. He was one of the main reasons EON worked for me when I was watching. Truly unforgettable presence. Handsome in the most perverse and sinister way. They don't make faces like that anymore.
    • My favorite moment in SOAPDISH is the HW taking the star to the mall in NJ to improve "morale"!!
    • Oh no! The shoulder pads! I will mourn them when they're gone. Please tell me the head pieces and hats remained!?
    • Shout! TV has now added season 26. Not sure what the reasoning for that was, but maybe it was the one that was ready to go...
    • It's AWFULLY hard to tell.  But out of the (approximately) 16 weeks so far in 2025, Bryton has only had about 12 episodes.  That's significantly less than 1 per week.  Once the actor drops down to less than 1 per week for an extended period of time (such as a 39-week cycle), I start thinking there's no contract in place for him or her.  Surely these folks aren't tying themselves down to a show for a guarantee of 1 or 2 episodes a month.   If I counted right, Bryton has had 21 episodes in the past 24 weeks.  They're either (a) about to kick into high-gear & work his ass off to meet his minimum guaranteed appearances, or else (b) he ain't got a contract that guarantees him squat.
