I don't know, the show has a record of not mentioning people after they've left.

Shirley herself mentioned last summer that she wasn't like Sharon, Kathy, or Lisa. So, I guess from that, Phil must have told her something about his love life at one point.

But they did acknowledge Sharon having some thought for Phil since she's left. In the Christmas 2008 episode, when Ian was on the phone with Sharon, she told Ian to wish Phil a Merry Christmas from her.

Lacey Turner was on BBC Breakfast last week promoting BBC Three's Frankenstein’s Wedding…Live in Leeds. It airs live next Saturday...

Thanks for telling me. I will need to watch while I still can, before any of that becomes priced out with all the upcoming broadband caps and so on. I'm glad they're giving Carol more to do, I love her character, and hopefully this will help Lindsey get some more votes for the BSA.

Eastenders won the royal television society awards last night. It beat out Corrie and Casualty in the soaps and continuing drama category. The panel said that Eastenders was “Economically written, beautifully executed, a real class above the rest with a stunning central performance from Lindsay Coulson.”

I'm glad Eastenders won. The episode with Billie's death was superb, the best on any soap in a long time, and Lindsey deserves this. What a contrast between that and the bad camp that Phil Collinson serves up as drama.

Thanks Dannigold.

I've been watching EE the last few weeks to see just how bad it's got...and its got bad. There are so many inconsistencies at the moment and everything seems to be falling flat. Thank God for Carol and Janine.

I loved the episode where Janine had a go at Lauren for being such a brat.

Ok, I might be forced to eat my words. Having posted on here just a few hours ago that EE was awful lately, I then watched Thursday's episode.

I thought it was great to have Lauren and Janine be the ones to find Whitney. And God I love Janine. She's probably my favourite soap character of all time, though I have never been happy with the stereotypical way they've written the character since her 2008 return. But I liked the way Simon Ashn showed that caring side of Janine to get Whitney to come home with her. They always seem to write her as some panto villain, but I'm glad they have finally shown another side to her character which never seems to be shown. To be fair they did go a bit overboard with Janine in what she was saying to Whitney, I don't think she would have been so mellow in reality. I could have done with Janine saying something along the lines of "Can't you see what he's doing, you stupid little girl?!" but instead she acted far more adult.

Lauren finally seems to have improved as well. And I think Shona McGarty has really proven that she can act serious storylines, and I would even go as far as to say she's a worthy replacement for Stacey. Of course Lacey Turner is a whole other league, but Shona comes pretty close IMO.

    • I wouldn't call Tomas' cuts a modern cut. They appear to be a slim/extreme slim cut⏤cut slimmer down the sides, with a higher armhole, which pulls up/out, depending on the fit of the person's body. Again, I feel like Ms Featherstone is buying to fit the wrong parts of the body; instead of buying to fit their widest parts (shoulders), she's buying things to fit their middle/waist (which is the easiest to ultimately fix without a complete re-cut), and it shows in the finished product. And the only reason it irks me is because I worked in suit sales for nearly ten years, and I notice these things immediately. The fashion(s) on this soap are miles ahead of three of the four others (I like the fashions from Y&R), but the tailoring is a choice, especially where the men are concerned.
    • There probably would have been a good chance they knew of him, especially with his ties to Spaulding and his being involved in so much scandal (meaning there would be plenty of photos and articles around they both would have seen), but I agree the mask was silly, clearly just a TV moment.

    • I think all the suits are fit too tight, except for Jon Lindstrom's. DC lawyers/doctors are not all LA fashion elites. Yes, maybe Tomas would have a more modern cut to his suit, but an established guy like Bill wouldn't go around looking like that lonely button on his jacket was ready to explode constantly.
    • I do think there's room for optimism, especially with Amazon making enough new episodes to last until December. There's still time for the various players to get their ducks in a row. Guess we'll know soon enough!
    • I do agree it's better to just have people pop back into town. I never understood why Roger needed a mask on an island, when neither Fletcher or Alex would've known who he was. And the vine...sigh. Couldn't he have just been sent crashing through a window or something?
    • When the announcement was first made, I did wonder if other plans were in the works. I guess we can always keep hoping, especially as the show has a small core cast.
    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
