Well, now I'm just certain

that Talia is Carlo's daughter

.

Don't tell me if that's true. I'm staying spoiler free. Just wanted to throw that out there.

ETA: That final montage was SOOOO well done. Really wonderfully edited with all the different shots of Nash and the heart beating. I just love every second of this storyline. They're not missing one single, solitary beat.

Without going on at length, that was one of the most entertaining hours of daytime drama I've ever watched :)

Bree Williamson MUST be nominated for an Emmy.

I felt every ounce of hurt and anger in Jessica, and I cheered her on. Bree was dynamite, and I just love when a character RAGES. Today, Jessica was in full-on Blair rage mode! That having been said, though, when she called Natalie "nothing but trailer trash," my heart absolutely BROKE for Nat.

And finally, at the end, Nat showed that she actually cares. That has been one thing I've been annoyed with: she just hasn't seemed to CARE about Jessica, but when she said that as her twin, she still feels her pain, that was great.

Jerry Ver Dorn, Erika Slezak, Robert S. Woods: all 100 % as usual.

Excellent montage at the end.

That was one of the best montages I have watched in my soap watching years.

If Bree isn't nominated next year

And I LOVE that they didn't find some sappy love song to set it to. It was dramatic and suspenseful, while still being nostalgic and sweet. It was like the montage version of everything going grey/green before a huge thunderstorm hits. All beautiful and foreboding at once. Nicely, nicely done.

I think that this episode should be one of the episodes for Best Show consideration next year. Amazing. Period.

And Bree Williamson has to be nominated. I always thought she was one of the best actresses on the show.

The utilization of the vets today was fabulous.

I have no doubt Bree will get her emmy nom. I can't help feeling sorry that Forbes had to be sacrificed for this story, but then, on the other hand, this story is so good it's been worth it. Bree was very good IMO, and I thought her acting choices were spot on. I don't like Jessica, and probably never will, but I am still sympathic because she totally sells me that Nash is the love of her life. I almost believed he was truly the great guy she described (although I remember well how he tried to seduce a mentally ill woman, and he tried to bring Tess back on more than one occasion). But I also loved her diatribe because it brought into the light all that snobbery, and elitism that's at the core of why I dislike the character. I agree that her grief and rage are justified, but I loved that in the midst of all that, she was written to be the princess who looks down her nose at the "trailer trash", because that's who she has always been and it is continually glossed over. But not today. She's excused because of her grief, but the audience knows it's there under the surface.

Another thing I really enjoy about RC's writing is the attention to details and things that are going on away from the main attraction. Todd's comments cracked me up.

Makes me wish he would be teaming up with Tess to seek revenge. That would be a much better use for Todd's character than this Marty story IMO.

Bo and Lindsay. Roxy coming to Natalie's comfort (although I can't forget that Roxy was originally the one who preyed on Natalie's insecurities and called her trailer trash). Rex telling Jared to get Natalie out of there. Rex's conversation with Bo encapsulated the story in it's simplist form. He said that Natalie and Jared (among others) didn't mean to cause so much damage, but if they'd come clean, none of it would ever have happened. That's it in a nutshell. Natalie and Jared have to bear this responsibility. It doesn't matter that it was an accident and it doesn't matter that this was never their intention, their actions still set everything in motion.

Previews:

Why oh why did they preview Jared telling Natalie "She lost her husband and she thinks we killed him"? Didn't they just have that conversation?

Fabulous post, as always.

You are always able to express your dislike of a character while still appreciating the actor. People like you are why I love SON so much, because you are able to remain objective and still express your loyalties.

I was wondering if you felt for Nat as much as I did with the trailer trash comment. I'm sure it tore her up inside.

I agree about Bree selling the audience on Nash as the love of Jess's life.

I find it so hard to get behind Jessica's rant because so much of it is based on thoughts that she herself had conjured up. All her comments about Jared and Natalie "laughing at Nash" and being proud of themselves for "pulling one over on Nash Brennan" are bullshit because Jared was right. It wasn't like that. It was an accident. Jessica is grieving and is in a tragic state, so the only people she can throw that at are Natalie and Jared, because they're the ones who lied to the family. If Dorian didn't drop a bomb on the family at the meeting, and Nash and Jared had been arguing about anything else other than the vineyard stuff (I don't know...let's say Nash was pissed because Jared was wearing the same dress as him), and somehow they came to blows and Jared pulled Nash back and he fell through the skylight, would Jessica be throwing wrath at them?

Nash died because he wanted to start a fight. Jared didn't hit him back or anything, he stopped him from almost slapping Natalie! Nash instigated ALL of the violence in that situation and you see where he's at now? I'm not saying that he had no reason to be pissed to epic proportions, but I'm also saying that he chose to be violent and start a fight, and he suffered the consequences of his actions.

PS: And am I wrong for wanting Nikki Smith to pop out for just a milisecond? "Jessica, you've said enough, you need to calm down, it's for your own good. SHUT THE [!@#$%^&*] UP BEFORE YOU LOSE YOUR [!@#$%^&*]!!!!!!!!!! Jessie, please..." And I also wanted Roxy to jump up when Jessica took a crack at her and called Natalie trailer trash.

I don't remember Nash raising a hand to Natalie. He yelled at her, but so what? She deserved that much. All Jared had to do was step between Natalie and Nash, there was no need to push Nash so hard that he would fall over a guard rail and through a skylight (Those types of scenes always look so fake, like the stunt person has to jump over the rail). Anyway, I feel very bad for Jess. Jared didn't mean to kill Nash, but that doesn't change the fact that his lies and his negligence led to his death.

Natalie was good when she put her hand to her face and turned her head while crying. At least she is showing some remorse for how things turned out.

Todd was funny. I love the way he always stands back and gets the kick out of these types of scenes. Still, I wish we could have had one scene where he showed Jess some sympathy.

Tina was great again. "Run David Vickers, run!!"

ICAM. I commented the other day on how disturbing I found the way Natalie was acting and how she never really seemed to care that her sister was grieving. I was really glad today that she said that she felt her pain and I actually felt that she was really sorry and that's something I hadn't felt before. The montage at the end was great. I was almost losing hope that they would play any clips of Forbes but they did so i'm happy.

Overall today was fantastic. The acting, writing and directing were all top notch. As much as I have disliked Melissa Archer over the years I have to admit that she has really been bringing it these past few weeks and has been doing some amazing work. If this show doesn't win Best Drama next year I think I might break something.

Considering he had just slugged Jared and was then just a-wagging his finger around in Natalie's face while screaming at her, calling her a whore, I think it's very possible that he could have slapped her if Jared didn't pull him out of the way. And I'm sorry, but when Jared pulled Nash back, I'm sure the thought "well, I have to pull him away, but not too hard, he might fall through the skylight" wasn't going through his mind. If Jared had to take a second to think about how hard he was going to pull Nash, Nash should have taken a second to think about starting a fight so close to the skylight in the first place.

So far I have loved Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday's episodes....not sure what happened to Tuesday though. yikes.

Love the Marcie and Gigi friendship

The funeral scenes are intense. Bree has got to stop making me cry though lol

I also dig the Gigi/Marcie & Gigi/Viki friendship and talks, they come across like real life convo'. Very natural.

I love how Todd was so entertained by the funeral.

LOL yeah that was funny and so Todd. IMO, it offset all the drama going on.

Overall today was fantastic. The acting, writing and directing were all top notch. If this show doesn't win Best Drama next year I think I might break something.

ITA, WOW everything about today's episode was top notch. I think I will be breaking something with you if OLTL does not win Best Drama next year. There is no doubt that the show will have plenty of clips to pick from. The montages this year are all kinds of AWESOME!

SPEAKING of best drama WTF is going on when ABC is promoting GH for winning best drama but nothing for OLTL. IMO there should at least be a promo congratulating OLTL for six Emmy wins, including win for best writing & directing! I call bullshit!

Because now that GH won drama series, that's all that matters in the eyes of the Big Frons.

SON and select other boards are a great place to develop objectivity and separate the performance from the performer. Bree is very talented and she has her strengths and weaknesses, and today's scenes were finely crafted to showcase what she does best IMO. I think she usually strikes just the right tone. I am very interested in seeing how she will deliver the material that is coming down the pike. It's very new for her but I have no doubt she'll be great.

I loved both Natalie and Jared today. I could gush on and on, but it gets tiresome for some people, so I'll try to be brief to spare them. LOL. I didn't mind the trailer trash comment so much, because Natalie has dealt with that her entire tenure on the show, and I really felt her reaction was more about Jessica expressing her rage, disgust and hatred so openly, than it was about the actual insult. Again, I was pleased that they allowed Jessica's elitism out to play in the open for a change, and I am thrilled that they used that precise term, because it gets bandied about on the boards so much. RC's dialogue is very deliberate, and I think Roxy's response "We may have lived in a trailer or two, but we're not trash. We're survivors" was the truth. Later when Jared and Natalie were speaking privately, she wasn't upset about that or anything else she is suffering, she is "feeling her twin's pain".

I loved when Natalie and Jared got busted at the beginning, JB mouth the Eff word (yes I am 12), and his facial expressions were perfect. Then he slowly turned back to the room like he was preparing to face a firing squad. I think JB is very good. Like many performers, he sometimes gets too manic in scenes calling for intense emotional reactions, but he's developing his craft and I think he's enormously effective in scenes like today's, and he is growing in the role daily.

I agree...Bree was excellent with the end montage...very well done. It was good to see Nash again. *sniff*

What gets me is how no one is blaming Dorian for her part in this....also the fact she was responsible for Jess losing her almost full term baby with Will all those years ago. Now her actions set off events that caused Jess to lose her husband. I can't believe they are dumping this all on Nat & Jared. Granted they were there at the end but the whole losing the vineyard thing was because of Dorian outing Jared when she did....

..and Todd...he used to actually care for Jess. Who is this Todd anyway?

Absolutely loving Tina...."run David Vickers, run!!" :D
