Damn..he is old. I guess Bradley Bell is the youngest....oh wait the bug is the youngest.

OLD?!? Late 40s or early 50s

I think you should start a topic Barbara Bloom Must Be Fired. It's not going to happen, but one can hope.

If soap TPTB don't read this board, you can BET network execs sure don't :-)

Bradley is 44, William James is ... I'm not sure, Lauralee is 39, Maria Arena is 48... As far as I know.

I hope that isn't true, actually. It would only inhibit what I write.

If it consoles you, they don't care about your writing. Or anyone else's. :D

Wendy Riche would be fantastic. David Shaughnessy was always pretty good, I felt. Either of those, IMO.

With the influx of new directors, writers, actors, and certain actors (hello, Judith Chapman) being used perhaps past their guarantees, not to mention the record low ratings, it's time for Josh Griffith to go. I hope it wasn't some stupid rumor that he's on his way out.

Barbara Bloom, Steven Kent, Bill Bell, Jr - FIRE JOSH GRIFFITH and get a real Executive Producer in there.

God, for a woman who got her start in the fashion world, she had no sense of style at all. Her clothes are as tacky as her writing!

Ahahahaha. Oh Y&RWorldTurner, you took the words right outta my mouth.

MAB is simply too thick for what she wears. She doesn't have good arms, she should conceal them, she has a thick waist, she's a beautiful woman, without question, but she wears really unflattering clothes. I don't care who designed it or how much it cost. The fact is that frumpy is frumpy even from Chanel. A crisp suit or something that skims the body would be much better.

But seriously, Bloom, Billy Jr, Steve Kent, Steve Mosco: FIRE GRIFFITH!!! A new, experienced, BELL sphere producer is a necessity!

What about Ron Weaver from B&B?

#1. Wendy Riche, who worked with Bloom at ABC. Why isn't this woman on daytime? You'd think that after her 5 Emmy wins at GH in the 90's, someone would want her. Here's your chance Bloom, make the woman an offer that she can't ignore. She knows how to do melodramatic soap, a Y&R staple. I think she could help bring the show back to its former glory.

OK, just a quick bump. Since David isn't coming, obviously, either no one asked him or he's not interested, I agree about Wendy. If by any chance this woman isn't available, then I'd go Felica Minei Behr route, who was able to control Megan and was, as some say, heavily involved with writing and long-term planning. True, she didn't mesh quite that well with ATWT, but I still believe she's a very good producer, who came off as a very intelligent woman in interviews etc. She is NYC based, but... I can dream?

#3. Someone totally new from outside of the genre. Face it, Y&R needs some innovative refocusing. We have bad younger actors, bad storylines, and bad execution. I'd love to see what a soap fan, from outside of the daytime arena that hasn't worked on daytime before could do with the show.

This is also an interesting suggestion. There are so many good producers, but don't kill me for writing this, how about John P. Melfi? :D He came to mind first, don't know why. Apart from producing SATC, he produced the HBO/BBC Rome. And, yes, he produced that terrrible The Comeback, too.

Honestly, I'm quite surprised Rauch's influence hasn't been felt. We don't even know for how long exactly he was there. But that quote from Harding and several other things made me really hopeful about him, even though his stints after AW left a lot to be desired.

For now, that is all.

I wish Billy would just ask him back. David is still apart of the Bell fold, and if they made him an offer, I'm sure he'd consider coming back. I mean, he did direct one episode of Y&R this year, during the strike.

I respect Behr, but I don't think she'd mesh with Y&R and I can see her hiring her BFF, Lorraine Broderick. While I love and respect Lorraine, her writing is better suited for the ABC and the P&G soaps, not Y&R.

You don't even want to know how much I abhorred SATC during it's last two seasons, you know, when it essentially became a watered down melodrama.

I liked Rome though, but I doubt any soap could afford the likes of him, and I doubt he'd want to tarnish his resume with a daytime soap.

Yeah, NONE of the typical Rauch-isms were felt, while leads me to the conclusion that Bell/CBS/Sony HATED his ideas, and they're pursuing other avenues in terms of replacing Josh Griffith, who needs to be fired regardless.

I agree and that's why we come to an important problem: CBS hasn't had a stable good producer in years now. And those who've been good on ABC are - ABC and aren't coming back. I still think she might be good considering that she controls the writing if it's faltering and she wouldn't destroy the production values.

I abhorred it, too. But never forget that it was all Michael Patrick King, Melfi had nothing to do with writing. Come to think of it, I'm starting to believe Darren should have helmed it all the way til the end.

Who else is there?

Who else is there?

John F. Smith would most definitely come back if asked. I remember his exit interview where he said Latham firing him was a mistake, since he had been at Y&R for over 30 years. Maybe he can just stick to producing this time, while overseeing Maria and Hogan's work. Smith loves Y&R.

I think he burnt out the last time with having to share both EP and HE responsibilities. Looking back, he definitely wasn't as bad as what was to follow though.

He also had to deal with every parent's worst nightmare: the terminal illness and death of his teenage son. How the hell he did as well as he did for as long as he did is beyond me. I'd have quit on the spot. He did a commendable job given the circumstances.

My instincts tell me that Sony/Bell/CBS hated Rauch's ideas...which isn't surprising since he seems to be a 'love him or hate him' kind of EP.

If they are firing Griffith (which is pretty necessary) they should swallow their pride and phone Smith. It's clear Shaughnessy isn't being asked (ridiculous) and I sure as hell don't want to see JHC coming aboard and JFP is likely sticking with GH since it's clear Frons doesn't want to change anything about that show.
