I've been meaning to ask, is there any footage of her as Maggie?  That was around 1979 right?

I want to say yes, because I remember stumbling across it out of the blue in recent years. I think some Maggie material was in the string of Viki and Clint-centric playlist on Youtube. I was surprised to find Carla Hall's wedding to Jack Scott too. All sorts of stuff is hidden in the nooks and crannies of YT!

Luke was rockin' those jeans and that t-shirt. They probably didn't, but I could see a scene where Diane messed with Ned's mind, saying that the brothel (read: her) was intererested in a stud.

I would have signed on as a customer!

(I jest, I jest!)

Sort of.😝🙃

The only one I could immediately find offhand is one of Maggie posing as Pat and she doesn't seem to let the mask slip. I too am fairly sure there are others but I can't dig 'em up right now. Anyway, this is a topic for the OLTL thread.

The scene on AW, when John Randolph presented Alice with her divorce papers from Steve, and the one on OLTL, with Pat visiting her son Brian's grave, were mesmerizing. IMHO, these were two of JC's finest performances.

Are either of these scenes available on YouTube?

Alas, no. I've never heard of anyone else even mentioning these great scenes, let alone finding them available on the internet.

I know there are the Men and Women of Loving videos (which I never got to see) but I hope we get an oral history while a number of the players are still with us. I only ever knew of the show through having the show on in summer '95 and the mentions in the soap magazines about the revamp. Other than that, until this thread, and Youtube, all I ever knew was scraps of scraps, some of which weren't even true.

It's a shame The City didn't get more time as I do think Tracy gave the show a boost of life and there were hints on the way of more necessary changes (like Ava returning), but then, they had 14 years, which is a rarity for most soaps.

Yes, I mean if they can find enough interesting things to make an oral history of Texas, surely the Loving/City one could be fascinating (and hopefully clear up a lot of these eternal questions.)

You know that I pretty much agree with you about The City.  Also in its final months it was the only show of the three ABC ones I watched that I felt like was showing signs of actively improving (to be fair this was when Broderick's AMC was starting to not be great, and a bad time for OLTL so part of that was just in comparison.)

Just found out today that Tom Lisanti is one of "those" when it comes to Ryan's Hope being thrown over for LOVING. Add to it that he claims to be part Sicilian & intends to hold a grudge forever.

Yes, I did make the mistake of asking after the Ryan's Hope one if he'd ever do one for maybe Loving...  sigh lol

Nothing against Tom Lisanti, as I know he's not alone (and hell, I will admit that I did not watch Passions when it was on in part because AW was canceled), but hopefully there is someone out there who would make the book even if he doesn't. Loving has long had an outsized interest from people compared to a number of other soaps that were fairly short-lived, so the audience is there.

Raising my hand here. Although I don't think it would have been my kind of soap, even if not for being an AW fan from way back when.

When Mike Poirier was editing this he called it the most boring bad seed storyline ever...  LOL  Check out how many recasts there are here (including Curtis number 2 AND 3)

When Agnes Nixon Stabbed Ryan's Hope In The Back For Her Soap Opera "Loving"

And we were just discussing this ;) *rolls eyes*

I have to laugh when Agnes calls the show "hot."  Has there ever been another time when the advertising for a soap actually featured the soap creator??

And don't forget, Agnes Nixon ACTUALLY wanted ABC to sandwich Loving in between AMC and OLTL but for some reason they refused (even though frankly it makes a lot of sense to me) though I know that would have affected Ryan's Hope as well.

I think RH (and EON) would have been affected no matter where ABCD would've put LOVING; and I think that's because ABCD really didn't have the room for another soap, but wanted another Agnes Nixon show so desperately.

Yes, I think that's a fair way to look at it (and ridiculously to assume Nixon should have turned down the offer and told ABC they should focus on one of their low rated soaps instead.)
