June 1, 200817 yr Member Hey guys, check out my latest Where Are They Now? interview at the All My Children History Project. This week's star is Darlena Tejeiro (then Darlene Dahl) who portrayed Anita Santos from 1995-97. She was the first contract actress in the role, and played opposite Brian Gaskill (ex-Bobby Warner, now Dylan Shayne). Click HERE for the interview.
June 1, 200817 yr Member Thank you, AMCHistory! Do you plan to interview only actors or maybe even producers, writers etc.?
June 1, 200817 yr Author Member I would love to, if I had a lead on any of them. This has been such a fun process I have to admit. I think you guys will all love the next one. He was from AMC's golden era and has a great memory.
June 1, 200817 yr Member Awesome! I loved her as Anita! I've had a crush on her since. I wish TPTB would bring her back as Anita. We need a Santos now that Julia's gone anyway.
June 2, 200817 yr Member I could not stand her on the show. I can't believe you are picking on Anita Santos. Didn't you know that she can dump her husband, get a new boyfriend, and still be just as boring and also do such a fabulous job at the hospital like she runs it? After all, she is a Santos and we know how perfect they are While the Santos are put on a pedestal of perfection, I did really like Maria/Julia/Mateo....I hated Mama and Papa Santos, Anita, and Rosa Edited June 2, 200817 yr by DevotedToAMC
June 2, 200817 yr Author Member I loved Socorro Santiago as Mama Santos. She was such a great character foil to her other children. I feel like had Jean Bruke kept with Bobby and Anita in PV, the character could have become as important as Mateo/Maria/Julia... I don't know and Darlena did not know why they let go of the characters. Especially in light of the fact that Bobby was such a legacy character and Palmer and Opal were still getting a lot of airtime. Dismantalling that teen scene was the beginning of the end of the really great younger crowd stories at AMC. Arguably, no group has been able to live up to it. Rosa/Bianca/Gabriel? No. JR/Laurie/Jamie/Joni/Reggie? No. Lily/Danielle/The Mean Girls? No.

June 3, 200817 yr Member I loved Socorro Santiago as Mama Santos. I did not mind Socorro...I just hated Mama
June 3, 200817 yr Member Never saw this Anita, but I liked Natalia(can't think of her last name) who played Anita a few years ago. Thanks for the interview, keep up the great work
June 3, 200817 yr Member I did not mind Socorro...I just hated Mama She certainly led the Sanctimonious Santos Clan didn't she
June 3, 200817 yr Member Yep characters like Mama and Papa Santos, Anita, Rosa, and his holiness Ryan Lavery will always be my favorite bash subjects with their holier than thou attitudes. The difference in hating them and hating someone like Ava is that the above are established characters so we know when they are acting in character or not. Ava came to town...lied lied then lied some more and screwed screwed screwed. We saw nothing else. How can we judge her properly? So I will hate the above
June 3, 200817 yr Member Werne't most of that scene dropped when mcT came back in? that's when Kevin disappeared anyway...
