Actually James is now calling it "BS."

I will never forget how horrified Sami looked when EJ raped her and how terrified she was for months and months afterwards when he was mentally torturing her about what happened.

I don't see how Sami is being selfish here. Lucas tells Sami to move on. He tells her thati t's over between them and that he is DONE with her. I don't see how that is being selfish. I also don't see how she is being a person who is only thinking of herself here. Lucas is done with her and wants nothing to do with her he tells her that from prison and also tells her straight up that he doesn't want to speak to her or talk to her again while he is in prison. I thought EJ was her husband? So how is she cheating on EJ?

That's the way I feel about it. She had a choice and it wasn't a desireable choice but she didn't have to have sex with EJ she chose to have sex with him because it was the only way to save Lucas. She wasn't drugged, she wasn't forciablly beaten, it's not as if she said no and he forciablly took her. She was in full control of her facilities and she was asked and she consented to having sex with him because it saved Lucas. I don't see how that makes her a rape victim. Was it a desirable choice perhaps it wasn't. But she was not raped and she certaintly didn't act like one. She went over to his apartment several times when he was dressed in towels, bath robes, underwear, ect. and she didn't look terrified more over she didn't think anything of it. She seduced him, played on his emotions and used her body to entice him at every other turn. I can't imagine a rape victim acting like that especially toward her attacker. The more I think about it the more I think it's laughable that it was called a "rape". That's was not a rape. It was desicion Sami chose to save her husband. Especially considering the way she acted after the "event" happended. I couldn't imagine Sami being romantic with EJ or physical with him in any aspect like she was back in 07' if she truely believed it was. She must be the most OOC rape victim ever in the history of television.

I don't understand how Sami is seen as a victim for making a choice. She chose to save Lucas' life because she knew EJ wouldn't save Lucas without getting something in return. She got a choice that is much more then other victims get. Other victims are completly helpless and I resent the fact that Sami is being compared to other rape victims who actually didn't have a choice in what happened to them. She is no Bianca, no Kayla, no Erica, no Julia, no Emily, no Elizabeth, no Marty Saybrooke, no Laura.

Get rape? Or let your husband die? That is not a choice! *My brain is going to explode*

Anyway.....

Dena got to him. He's trying to sell the story now. I can't believe he went back on what he said in the fall of 2007:

Oh James. I'm so disappointed in you now. Stay true to your word, man.

I just can't fathom how one can be raped when you have a choice in sleeping with someone. She could of easily said no to EJ and gotten help for Lucas later from someone else. She had a choice and it was a hard one to make but at the end of the day she said yes to their arrangement. It was a proposal EJ gave and Sami wanted to save Lucas so she accepted it. She didn't have to have sex with him. Nor was she forced to. She could have said no and it was an option she was given. An option many of the other characters in my other post did not have. Those were violiations, those were attacks on helpless women. I think they even did this with Zander and Emily on GH at one point and even Emily recognized that she had a choice and that she was prostituting herself to save Nicholas and that Zander was turning her into a whore, that made Zander withdrawl his request for Emily to sleep with him.

EJ had a gun. EJ had taken her hostage. There was no one else around for Sami to ask for help. Let's not forget, EJ had a GUN. He had the gun pointed at her side when they were stopped by the police. EJ was her only hope and he used that to get what he wanted. It was about power.

I've had sex with people and didn't enjoy it. There's a difference between having bad sex, and being disgusted as a man is taking advantage of you looking for help to save the man you love. EJ raped Sami. I'm not changing my opinion. James said it, Ali said it, and now they're changing it because they want to sell this pairing. It's bullshit.

If that's the case then Laura didn't really get raped by Luke because we all know she wanted it. GMAB <_<

I get the gun portion of it. However there is nothing that implied that had Sami refused to sleep with EJ that he would have shot her or tried to kill her for refusing him. EJ did take Sami hostage so that he could flee the police. However he never threatened to shoot Sami if she chose not to sleep with EJ. That was never even expressed in the show. The director nor the writers used the gun as a reason for Sami sleeping with EJ. It's not as if EJ was threatening to kill Samantha if she refused to have sex with him if that was the case it would certaintly be rape, however that was not the case. Especially since the dialogue and direction even state that the entire reason Sami slept with EJ was because Sami needed EJ to lift the beam from on top of Lucas. So no the gun was not the catalyst for her sleeping with EJ. The reason Sami slept with EJ was for one reason and one reason only to save Lucas from dying as a result of the beam crushing him in the freezing cold. Not because EJ threatened gun violience. After dropping EJ off Sami could have had a number of different options to save Lucas. It's not as if EJ was her only option to save Lucas.

That's not true. It was just the most convient and the quickest. She could have found other alternatives. Sami's a resourceful girl, who has finagled complex schemes and mainpulated the entire town she could have found another way to save Lucas.

Perhaps he did take advantage but that still doesn't change the fact that it isn't rape. The fact that Sami was given the choice to say yes or no completely nullifies the arguement. She wasn't coerced, she wasn't threatened, she was put in an awful situation and she made a desicion but she could have just as easily made the other one. It's not like Marty Saybrooke who was viciously assaulted by three men, Bianca who was ruthlessly attacked by Micheal Cambius or Elizabeth who was savagely attacked and thrown into the woods by her attacker. None of them had choices. Sami did.

Laura was an entirely different case. Laura had a choice and she said no. Luke persisted. That was rape because Laura was forced and had no choice. You can't compare the two because Sami had a choice.

    • My only recollection of Ms Felder in Tom Lissanti's book is that she was not well liked backstage, and nobody was aware of rumors that she was fired because of her looks, including the network executive interviewed for the book.
    • a) you would not be sorry, but  b) full episodes from the first half of '89 are hard to find.
    • Ya see..., that's why I can't watch this show on my own!

I'm ripping it for being dumb, meanwhile half the episode goes over my head.  Hello pot, I'm kettle.
    • When put very plainly it wouldn't make sense, but you could say that Ashley would prefer someone that can pay his own way without sharing expenses and has more than a working class experience. Andre might want someone more stable and level headed. Of course the issue is that the characters don't match despite the plausibility of a connection making s
    • I am fine with no one mentioning Bob-ette again.  It's frustrating not ever knowing what was up with him truly or why we wasted so much time on that to never get a conclusion.  I am willing to forget it though. Abe being on the board makes more sense to me because of Lexie and Theo.  I think there was a wing dedicated to Autism research or treatment years ago possibly named after Theo and Lexie was the chief of staff at some points and worked there for years.  I could see Abe having interest in the hospital still.
    • TR eventually came to be a nickname for Theresa Regina, the name her kidnappers gave her. Estelle never referred to her as Rebecca, though, always Theresa. I guess that was what TR wanted.    TR went to Switzerland. Jane returned for the last week.  After Ryder died, TR never had a love interest. I assume they gave up. I wouldn’t have dropped John Loprieno as Danny but he got squeezed out by Quinn, really. A TR/Evie/Jerry triangle might’ve worked.    David Forsyth and Jackie Schultz had good chemistry. I liked Luann though. I think Sharon Gabet would’ve been a more interesting recast, and she might’ve kept Joe Lambie on as Lloyd.    But Suzi and Wendy were gone, and Liza was talking about leaving town to join Gary in Africa, so before the cancellation, I do believe Liza was getting phased out.  Sunny and Patti and Evie were set up as heroines, and it was a small show.
    • Andre/Ashley are a mismatch and not in a cute opposites attract sort of way. He is a very stylish photographer, independently wealthy, wordly  and she is a simple, struggling nurse with limited experiences. He has been having a covert sexual relationship with an older divorced woman and she is involved with a meat and potatoes blue collar  dude. Just  don't see what the attraction would be on either side.
    • I read that somewhere too - maybe it was mentioned in that book? I hope it's true.
    • I took a break from Edge of Night to finally start watching this. I watched the first week's worth of episodes. I started off chronologically even though they released the show originally with the Barnabas era first (don't know when he comes in). I had those discs in the complete coffin collection. I'm watching the complete series on Amazon so I hope Amazon doesn't pull a Knots Landing and yank the series before I finish as I don't have all of the beginning episodes. Thoughts: I appreciate the creepy black and white vibe and how everything is so mysterious even when it's just people walking into rooms. I also like seeing actors I know (Louis Edmonds, Joan Bennett, Mitchell Ryan, Conrad Bain (although he might be a cameo), etc.). It was nice to finally see Joel Crothers as I have yet to see him on Edge of Night. Crothers is quite looking so I wish he'd show up on EON. Mitchell Ryan is also attractive. I like how they set up Devlin's animosity towards the Collins family during this week.  We're left to wonder why Roger is so upset. Why is Devlin angry? What happened to Roger's wife? Who wrote to Victoria? Not much has really happened but I'm intrigued. The dialogue is certainly not on the level of EON. It amuses me they leave bloopers in. Bennett in particular struggles with doors. Was this filmed live?
