April 26, 200817 yr Member I guess a headwriter is only as good as his writing team - or in case of LML as bad. Y&R is so painfully boring and exhausting these days. It's as if all changes made post Dec 26, 2007 are redone. The short meaningless scenes, fragmentation - it's annoying. The characters still show motivition though. The writing team however needs to get booted ASAP. Y&R was soo much better during the strike... Only positive ingredient which keeps me from FF-ing: The amount of Jill's airtime these past two weeks. And she even is fierce every once in a while. Jess Walton is single-handledly carrying this show for me. And she's unfortunately a supporting player. This should tell a lot.

WORD I'm hoping Maria can get rid of some of those writers soon. The sad thing is, I can see her keeping many of them. The show definitely sunk faster than a rock in a pond when all those writers returned.

I would watch Tracey & Jess read the phonebook...
April 26, 200817 yr Member Well, she's not really an instigator or a bitch anymore.... She just sits there and supports, supports, supports. Makes me wish LML had followed through with that addiction/post-partum depression thing that she had going on! agree. that was the only time during LML's run i was intersted with anything. that and after the clearsprings bore lauren seemed like maybe she was ehaded to an emotional affair with paul.
April 26, 200817 yr Member JT and Lauren are too characters who are beyond boring. And both these characters were interesting characters in the past. What happened??! Lauren became a GloHag prop, along with a Fisher/Baldwin prop, and JT got Victoria-ized
April 26, 200817 yr Member Every single episode that Michael and Lauren were in during 2008 was filled with Gloria talk. That couple didn't talk about anything else during the entire year. I'd kill myself if the only thing I could talk about during my life is a person like Gloria. Plus, Kevin and Jana have also been discussing about Gloria all the time (except briefly about the wedding).
April 26, 200817 yr Member There was a time.. maybe in 03-ish... where i wanted Lauren & JT to hook it up. They were, IMHO, chem testing her with the younger guys - Raul & JT - then that ddint happen and Kevin came along and then her and Michael started to sparkle.

I've never found JT interesting and thinks he should be gone from the show ASAP! Lauren used to be a interesting bitch but in addition to her being nothing but a supporter of the Baldwin/Fisher criminals, I also think motherhood may have mellowed her a bit too much. The same can be said of Phyllis BTW. Edited April 26, 200817 yr by Vanguardian
April 27, 200817 yr Author Member I agree that the only interesting thing that I can find in the show these days is Jill's airtime and that rivalry that is happening with Nikki (which has basically been going on for years). Other than that, the show has indeed gone back to 30-second scenes, and it weirdly feels like it's self-contained. I don't know how, but it does. Ever since those LML writers came back... sheesh!
April 27, 200817 yr Member I saw Monday's US episode and ::gasp:: it was one of the best episodes in a while. I don't like Lily and Cane, but they were good on Monday, and Sally McDonald's back directing! The end montage was great, it was actually a well-written episode too.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Every episode seems so self contained...it's such garbage. I cannot stand how this LMLism is back. It's time to FIRE the prime time writers MAB. Also, Jess Walton is carrying this show with the scenes she's been given. Jill is the ONLY thing that's holding my interest. Dear MAB, lead storyline for Jess Walton STAT! The rivalry with Nikki is a good place to start!
April 28, 200817 yr Member However, there was one brilliant moment in the American April 24th episode... Katherine: ESTHER! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?! ANSWER ME! ESTHER! I loved that too. I watched it over again a couple a times because it was so funny!
April 28, 200817 yr Member As Willow on Buffy would say, "Bored Now" This show needs something new fast, before it is cancelled!!
April 28, 200817 yr Member I love Jess Walton and I wish the show would use her in a lead capacity. They sort of seem to plug Jill into other characters' storylines as a plot device without any real long-term plans for the character.
