GH definitely had the most popular year that year, but take a look at the Ryan's Hope clip when the award is being presented - classic character driven soap opera at its best!

Anyway, this was GH's first of so far 9 wins for Outstanding Drama Series, a record GH holds for most wins in that catgory btw.
