and like an idiot, Bridget took the bait. Did you see her over at Nick's ready to see if she can move in as new mommy. This show is sick bc Nick's son is her brother! Im sick of seeing Brooke's musical chairs of men. I would love to see what the show would be like if they backburnered her for like 3 months and let Felicia and Ashley be the lead females

Haha, good point. Has Brooke every been paired with Clarke? It seems as if the only men on the show she hasnt been involved with are Storm and Rick and thats only bc they are related to her

I missed a couple of years of B&B when I was in college, so I can't swear to it, but I'm pretty sure Clark and Brooke were never together. It is a short list that is for sure.

I totally agree about having a three month break from Brooke. I like her, but enough already. She needs to stick with her latest destiny for a little while at least.

Hello? Taywhore is using the "poor me" routine to seduce Rick. She wants a sympathy screw with the half-brother of baby Jack! Taywhore is disgusting! Minutes after abandoning baby Jack, she's making out with Rick!

If Taywhore were to admit she's a lesbian in love with Brooke, her life would be so much better. instead she's busy repressing her lesbian feelings for Brooke by substituting either Brooke's exes (Nick, Ridge, Thorne) or men related to Brooke (Storm, Stephen and Rick). Ridge Jr. is most likely next on Taywhore's list!

C'mon, bakedghoti! I am no Tayfan -- she has often been the passive-aggressive manipulator. But in this case? No way. She was going nuts. I think she just wanted Rick as a friend. She was fearful of being alone, as she admited.

LOL, and I don't think Taylor has latent feelings for Brooke. For Sheila, maybe (HT and KB always had a certain chemistry!). The big woman2woman love on this show has always been Brooke and Stephanie.

And while we are throwing around the word "whore" about the female characters, who about we do a little equal opportunity offending?Surely Ridge and Nick have plowed a furrow through almost every female character on this show. They even tapped Bridget within weeks of the other. I fear for when Hope gets SORASed.

My heart ran cold when Bridget started admitting she still loved Nick. Please, no, never again! However, I am hoping that this will not lead to Nidget Part 3. The way Bridget kept stressing her connection to Jack... I'm thinking they are going to reopen the paternity stuff and it will turn out that "Mrs. Marone's" egg refers to Budge's. Which should put a dampener on Brooke & Nick's heavy breathing and grabby smooching

I don't know whether to be appalled by the Donna/Eric TMI scenes or laugh at the fact that it is so knowingly cheesey and tongue-in-cheek.

Storm!!

Taywhore has always sniffed after Brooke's scraps (Nick, Thorne, Ridge) or Brooke's biologically-related men (Storm, Stephen and now Rick). And taywhore loves saying how she's been living under Brooke's shadow. For a world-renown pyschiatrist, you would think taywhore would know how to break her own patterns. yet here she is again smooching rick! any romance with rick will still connect her to brooke. taywhore is that stupid!

and tayslut hated Rick dating Phoebe. she got into an argument with brooke saying that rick must have great sexual prowess since he has a mother like brooke. so now she wants a taste of that, and is using her situation with Jack as the reason. taywhore is merely trying to get revenge on brooke by seducing rick.

well stephanie is another woman obsessed with brooke, but it's because of ridge. yes ridge, nick and thorne are definitely whores. but taywhore is the biggest whore since she slept through the forrester (ridge, thorne and now rick), marone (ridge, nick) and logan (stephen, storm and now rick) clans!

as for budge, i think they should write her out. the writers clearly don't know what to do with her. there are too many logan women. she looks ridiculous calling katie and donna aunts, and to a certain extent calling brooke her mother. and she looks much older than older rick. the soap has too many underutilized women period. ash, fifi, katie and even jackie should get more screen time. i say send budge to copenhagen or reunite her with cj off screen.

as for eric/donna, donna is brooke 2.0. the affair can go nowhere really. i keep writing about storm, but tptb don't want to committ to writing a strong male non-forrester/non-marone.

I'm really sick of these muscial chairs. Seriously, it makes your head spin:

Taylor leaves Nick and is then kissed by Rick whilst Nick is kissed by Bridget yet he really wants another chance with Brooke who's still "romanced" by Ridge who just broke off with Ashley who seems to still carry a torch for Rick. STOP THE MADNESS!

I cherished every single second we got to see the Logans - could we get Storm a story with Flea as it was rumored amidst strike ASAP please!? - and this Eric/Donna charade. It is beyond campy.

And I'm not talking about Eric's "pills" here - poor John McCook, he always gets to play such stuff; in the 90s they talked weeks about Eric having a vasectomy and now Eric's taking viagra - but these fakery "honey" and "honey bar" try to pull on Queen Stephanie. This is as subtle as Lilly's upcoming bulimea story on Y&R... LMAO!

Overall the show is good to decent but there are some major flaws which annoy the heck out of me.

Seriously. I didn't know having a nerves breakdown was a seduction technique or an invitation for someone to kiss you. Rick didn't need seducing anyway. He was all over Taylor like white on rice. When he mentioned being bad and needing a spanking  I think they might be good together, but the mommy type references need to go.

good together???????? rick and tayslut?????????????

this is a catastrophe and it is tantamount to molestation!

rick, as a child, took swimming lessons with taywhore. he then wished she was his mother! he told her that. he viewed her as a mother figure and she viewed him as a child since she was Mcbarren at the time! and now tayslut is going to boink him! DISGUSTING!

i thought ridge/bridget was appalling since 1. she's named after him since they thought she was his daughter 2. she then became his half-sister and 3. he delivered her in big bear!

i think b&b has outdone themselves in the ick department with taywhore/rick! he thought of her as a mother figure, she is his mom's romantic rival, and now they are making out!

taywhore is using her "vulnerability" to get her hooks into rick all to get revenge on brooke. tayskank is a mess!

That's a ridiculous statement. I imagine anyone who was a victim of child molestation is pretty offended right now, since Rick is a grown man who can make his own decisions. And B&B has not outdone themselves by any stretch, unless you've forgotten that Ridge actually thought Bridgette was his bio daughter for the first 8 years of her life.

And yes, Taylor is a mess, but only because Brooke has to keep stealing every guy Taylor marries or does Brooke have dibs on every man she's every spread her legs for? If so Taylor would have to leave LA to find a guy. At least Taylor is capable of making a commitment. Brooke no sooner marries one guy than she decides her destiny lies with another.

I am not making light of molestation. But I think taywhore and rick is tantamount to molestation. She was viewed as his mother, and now she is romantically kissing him. That is disgusting and borderline molestation.

As for taywhore being a mess, she uses brooke as a scapegoat for everything. i guess it's brooke's fault that taywhore got drunk while around and alone with baby jack! i guess it's brooke's fault that taywhore murdered darla and covered it up while drunk. taywhore always blames brooke because she is obsessed with brooke! taywhore is a mess because of taywhore. i wouldn't be surprised if the show revealed that taywhore is a drug addict too. her hallucinations show how messed up she is!

    • Mary Carney was the best of the Mary recasts. I think everyone I've seen talk about the show has said this, or almost everyone. The show just gave up too quickly. I agree the story was over. I don't think the show ever developed Mary's career enough to make viewers care about that aspect. I remember reading an interview with Ilene Kristen where she talked about how much support she got from viewers with Jill and Frank (I think it was from around then). I don't know if Roger/Delia was always the plan (wasn't he interested in Mary early on?) but I sometimes think they threw that together to try to make viewers feel Delia had no moral high ground. Frank was an interesting construct as a man who looked like the ideal politician yet behaved...like a typical politician. I think that's why he mostly took off once they cast Daniel Hugh Kelly, who fit the duality.
    • Yes and no. If they had wanted to recast Phillip, then no, he didn't need to return. There were already too many recast Spauldings at this point. Regardless of how you feel about Dusay, Raines or Poser, I think the viewers had trouble connecting to them. I think the viewers loved Rick Hearst, and yes, if he had stayed, then you could've built around him. But with a lackluster Michael Dietz soon to appear, Grant Aleksander anchored the family. Reva--pfft. Yes, she could've stayed gone. I'm unsure what the early reception to Josh/Annie was, but I thought RN and CW had good chemistry. Reva had been gone a while at this point, the audience would've accepted anyone who was good to Josh's children.
    • Phillip and Rick became BEST friends when they first SORASed the characters.  They had been at the same boarding school and came back together to finish high school. That's when they met Mindy and Beth. The four of them were together a lot and called themselved The Four Musketeers. Initially, Phillip/Mindy and Rick/Beth were paired up until Phillip fell in love with Beth.
    • LaGuardia, R. (1974b). The wonderful world of TV soap operas. ISBN-13 ISBN-13 978-0345272836 It took Harding “Pete” Lemay, however, a skilled playwright who thoroughly believed in the heretofore unexplained psychological potential of the daytime serial, to transform Mrs. Nixon’s love-triangle subplot into a balanced story contrasting realistic human behavior and that “other world of fantasy and striving. He found story devices no longer necessary.” For example, Lemay said, “I didn’t feel it was necessary to keep Rachel a black-and-white character. I didn’t see her as a villainess… I saw her instead as a human being who had always had bad breaks and who defeats herself because she is so used to failure. When she lost Steve this last time, I wanted the audience to feel her pain as I felt it. I wanted them to feel her tears. Mr. Lemay, along with his producer, Paul Rauch, should be given an Award for the Greatest Contribution to Daytime Serials, for completely eliminating melodramatic cliche’s in a daytime drama, and for their invaluable demonstration that, what viewers really want is drama based on psychology rather than on escapist melodrama. Under Lemay and Rauch “Another World”, which had previously used many tried-and-true soap opera devices (although fewer than most other shows), got rid of them, employed inward writing, and became one of the top two or three daytime television shows. About the only happy event in “Another World” was the birth of Ada’s daughter, Nancy, named after Ada’s dear friend on her deathbed Nancy Wickwire.   Edit to add: Emphasis on "dear friend". Should be changed to "special friend".
    • ITA. While I'm all for vets being featured, the show has boxed itself in by not adequately developing a younger set. It's like Kyle's realistic options are Claire and Audra with Summer gone. Chance is barely used. Noah and Faith are off-canvas now.  Abby's story has been run to the ground in all the wrong ways. There's a Newman/Abbott war going on and Abby is on the sidelines? Give me a break. Abby shouldn't be a hostess, but at either Jabot or NE and right in the middle of all this stuff. Abby and Adam should've formed an alliance as the not Nick/Victoria kids.
    • Absolutely. On any other show, Frank Ryan would have been a shining romantic hero. I think they made Delia so impossible so you would feel as though he had a right to cheat on her. But he was a deadbeat dad, neglectful of the women in his life, even neglectful of his family, ridiculously ambitious. Once in a while he'd show some integrity, and then he'd go back to being a self-centered jerk. But he was definitely an interesting character.  When Pat was married to Delia, it was two incredibly neurotic people caught together in a very toxic relationship. Again, fascinating to watch. Yeah, when those first contracts ran out, the people leaving caused a big issue. Almost like they did too good a job with the initial casting.  I actually liked the first recast for Mary. (I think her name was Mary Carney?) Part of the problem was after being so front-burner for 3 years, Mary and Jack's story was basically resolved and they had to fall back on the tired "marriage vs career" trope. Then they brought in the second and third recasts that were total misses. Plus, they were ramping up Siobhan's character. It seemed they were more interested in focusing on her once Mulgrew left.
    • Thank you, all - so helpful! I didn’t realize Ross was Phillip’s bio uncle - how cool!  What happened to his real parents, and I’m assuming Ross didn’t like Alan for swapping the babies? It does sound like the writers might be making some things up then with A-M and Phillip feuding, but we’ll see how it plays out. Phillip currently is in a home with a woman’s voice in the distance (not sure who this is yet), and he keeps looking at a newspaper with the Spaulding family picture. They finally revealed his face in a Friday cliffhanger, but it was so obvious his voice was Grant A’s haha. He has such a distinct voice to me. Very interesting, so are Fletcher and Rick at odds then since he was the brother? Honestly in the year since Rick has been back in SF, they’ve rarely, if ever, been in a scene together that I recall. The storyline with Blake right now getting pregnant off a one-night stand with Rick from a bar night after Blake was upset with Ross, and not knowing who the father is…. sounds similar to that Meredith storyline in a way haha.  I remember someone posted an episode from the 80s of Rick smelling this scarf and Phillip lifting weights (so funny/strange), which made me think they were close friends in the beginning.  I’m guessing this storyline put them at odds - did they ever recover before they both left SF or will this be a fractured friendship when Phillip returns? Sounds like I need to know more about this Beth character, as she’s pretty important to Phillip’s backstory. So I wonder if the lady he’s talking to in these current scenes is Beth, if they’re still together?   That must be when Rick went to Chicago then and met Annie during the years he left SF. Thanks, again - this was all helpful background/context as I get to meet Phillip for the first time. I just have to get it out of my head he isn’t the bad Alec McIntyre (AMC) haha.

    • Hmmm... I don't know if I agree the show has been doing this with Sonny since the mid-90's.  He was more anti-hero than hero back then and had a whole lot of baggage.  He also had some very decent qualities. This was long before his bipolar diagnosis.   I have said this so many times on this board, but the true ending for the Sonny character was leaving Brenda at the altar.  Not because I wanted that or anything.  I was upset for days and might still be 25 years later.  It was just Sonny finally doing something very unselfish and leaving Brenda for her own good and well-being.  The family and life he craved he realized he couldn't achieve because of the business.  That to me was the end of Sonny's arc. It's unfortunate MB didn't make it primetime and came back a year later lol.
    • I shouldn't write like an authority, which I do too often. It's how I feel but I respect that others did appreciate the writing last year with Sonny.
    • What are the additional surprises that Leslie has up her sleeve?
