In my opinion, I think this is the best season. These amateur performers can't be perfect all the time. And I expect it. I'm assuming that the problem with David Archuleta is that he listened to the judges because he kept doing too many ballads. Simon is telling him to change it up and quit doing all of these depressing songs because he's being too repetitive etc, and I honestly think that David Archuleta can't really do fast paced tempo songs. I really don't. And I think it has something to do with the problem that he had with his throat when he was younger.

Carly Smithson is awesome, but I think her husband isn't being very supportive at all. In fact, I think that he's jealous. And I also think that he's the one who spread the rumors to the tabloids that she was pregnant. He wants to watch her fail because he's insecure about losing her.

Brooke White is still professional and she still values feedback from the judges and she never cops an attitude when the judges give certain negative feedback. She listens with an open ear and that's what I love about her.

I do like David Cook, but I think he's going to be another Chris Daughtry in this competition. He'll probably stick around for a couple of weeks, but I'm thinking 2 weeks after 'Idol gives back', he'll be eliminated.

Michael Johns song choices aren't bad at all imho. Some could be better, but he's still the 2nd best man in the competition! Glad you're rooting for the awsome David Cook now, I thought you were rooting for David Archuletta, I can't stand him anymore (hate him almost as much as I hate Taylor Hicks lol). Carly Smithson IS AWESOME man. She kicks ass. IMHO, she's the best female singer on the show ever besides Kelly Clarkson!

I think the best singer would be Jennifer Hudson in the entire Idol history. She is followed by Melinda Doolittle. And then, in no particular order, Mandisa, Katherine McPhee, Carly Smithson, etc. The problme with Carly is her personality, and all her lies, and the fact that she actually worked with Randy jackson(!) as published by votefortheworst.com.

Carly's lies??!? WTF are you talking about? Jennifer Hudson is good yeah, forgot about her there. I agree she's right up there with Kelly, Carly probably in 3rd position. Melinda right up there. Mandisa is good and so is Katherine. Carrie Underwood also is good, but I think a little over-rated.

I think Ramiele is going next, but honestly, I don't know. Because I think the judges know how exactly many votes she gets. I've noticed how they're not too critical like they were before. I guess we'll have to wait and see tonight.

Awww...that's the part in American Idol that makes me sad is when the contestants cry and sing their little song in the end. I think the only reason why Kristy Lee Cook is still in this thing is because everything is basically in her favor. Like this week was a tribute to Dolly Parton, but you know, she was one of the bottom three! I think she knows she's about to leave pretty soon.

And Brooke White! I *heart* that woman.

I agree with Simon (for once) that America got the Bottom 3 right this week. I do wish though that Kristy Lee went instead of Ramiele, but she'd be the next to go anyhow. I think Kristy Lee, after 5 weeks in the Bottom 2(!), she'll finally go home next week (next Thursday btw).

My guess is that 'American Idol' is a family show and children to do watch it, and Miley Cyrus is extremely popular with the kids, so they had performers on last night to cater to all the group of viewers.

IDOL GIVES BACK sucked big time. It was good last year, but for the most part this show sucked. I get it 5 out of 10. The good points---Fergie with John Legend, Fergie & Heart, Mariah Carey, Annie Lennox was ok, Teri Hatcher was pretty good actually, Robin Williams and Jimmy Kimmell were awesome, I wish Ellen had more part (like she did last year), the Christian number at the end was good, but shouldn't have been on the show, too much of the stories, no need for the additonal half hour, Paula should've performed "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow", Why didn't Jordin Sparks perform (2nd week in audience but no performance by the reigning IDOL, makes no sense),

Well holy hell!! Michael Johns has been eliminated!! What the hell is with that? SICKENING!! I am shocked and ticked off!! What on earth was America thinking. I predicted him the Top 3 of the season along with David Cook and Carly Smithson. I am just baffled. But look what happened 2 years ago with Chris Daughtry. The man should have won Idol...and didnt.

    • That's what happened with Hope Williams Brady on DAYS.  Started as rich princess, went to the police academy.   Became a cop.  Now consults for the I.S.A.
    • I know Curlee/Demorest tried to give Roger a conscience in regard to raping Holly, and Zas is magnificent in those scenes with Alex. But he kinda ends up blaming Adam and the fact he (well, really the writers) ignores raping Rita and being responsible for her and Ed's child's death make it less than convincing.  I do think during 89-93 they were careful to not whitewash his past with Holly, but his occasional bouts of conscience always seemed to be overridden by his obsession/lust for her. The only purely good thing I can ever recall him doing is helping Maureen during the blackout, and even then, had she lived, he would've found a way to call that favor in. I've kinda resisted saying it, but it's kind of clear to me Long was determined to have her own version of Erica Kane, and God help us all, it ended up as Reva Shayne. Although at least Kim could act. (Sorry LaLucci fans) Honestly, I'm not even sure CBS soaps ever a character as larger than life as Reva.
    • Regardless, I'd still like to see more episodes from the 80s...there is very little of Charlotte Greer, Kirklands and Greenberg's out there sadly.
    • A black family having a white maid would be a good subversion of stereotypes. Also want to say that while the overall show has many flaws, the biggest one that's legitimately stifling is the lack of a rival family.
    • I also do not like the bits I've seen with Delia during Labine's 83 return. I am glad when she came back for the last time in 1986, she allowed Delia to move on from Frank.
    • Thanks for the well-detailed reply. I'm fairly early in my viewing, so I have some time before it goes nuts. Thanks a lot! @kalbir and @DRW50 thank you so much. I am just approaching 100 episodes, so I'm good for now.
    • The Duprees as the main family isn't the problem, but the fact is that over 3/4 of the cast are Duprees.. so it limits coupling potential and also keeps the canvas too closed in. Too many female Duprees and no hetero, nor gay, male Duprees is also a problem.   I also agree with @DemetriKanethat the male characters are one note, and not very layered/interesting... outside of Bill, that is. To me, I would have focused on either Nicole's family and dynamics or Dani's family and dynamics instead of trying to introduce/develop both families at the same time.  Nicole's family is more developed and interesting with loads of storyline possiblities then Dani's family right now. And because MVJ and co decided to feature so many Duprees... we're less likely to be free of any outside characters like Ashley/Derek since they're the non-Dupree part of the canvas.

    • I can not see Kat as a police officer and do not want that for her. Thats not her passion nor does she care about that stuff. The stuff with Eva and Leslie is specific to her life and wanting to protect her family. Her "detective" skills have more to do with her business background, which makes her very analytical and pay close attention to details. If this show had a corporation, she'd make a shrewed businesswoman and CEO I definitely dont want to see her sleep with her cousin's husband. That would be too much of a Hayley redux which ironically you dont want with the Sharon/Hayley theory
    • I would make Jan, Ashley's mom, Anita and Vernon's maid. It would lock in to why Leslie would choose to befriend both her and Mona. It also gives Ashley a connection to the Duprees and explains how she befriended Naomi. I would have had Derek start the show as a cop to explain his connection to Jacob. Kat needs to realize that she is MADE to be a detective. Have her go through police training, making the appropriate comments about the uniform along the way. Have her prove she is so much more than a rich princess, even to herself. Then, when Jacob's partner is proven to be dirty, Kat is assigned as Jacob's rookie trainee. At the same time, Naomi does finally get a case she can follow through on. Her client is a person that Jacob arrested. This puts them at odds because Jacob knows this person did it, as does Kat, but Naomi only sees the extenuating circumstances and believes he deserves a lighter sentence and a second chance. THAT is when Jacob will turn to Kat in frustration and she will lose her virginity to him.
