1. I have never gave a [!@#$%^&*] what you did.

2. WTF are you defending or not defending? You have no problem with him calling the Viet Cong "gooks" and now you say you did not condone his use of the word.

You should have gotten a job with his campaign. Nobody there can stay on message either.

I bow to you.

*Pats GGL on the back*

;) Thanks buddy. You don't have to pat me on the back, just stating the obvious. Anyone that's actually paying attention to what's going on in this country knows that sentencing disparity, particularly IRT the death penalty, is completely unfair. And biased toward African-Americans. Because the state loves to seat jurors that are sympathetic to their cause and will swallow the myth of the "big bad black man" hook, line and sinker. And it's disgusting. And it needs to stop.

Obama is the only one talking about this issue in the campaign. I can only assume that McCain thinks everything is just peachy keen.

And I would also add to that with this......

Anyone ever heard of Emmitt Till?

GGL, I don't mean to belittle your post since you've thought about this and all but you're defending the wrong people and you need to be more sensitive to white people :lol::lol:

I'm working my way up to threatening to leave on the basis that the fires I'm setting are burning me and you people clearly don't understand jack....

Wales, Wales. You love stirring the pot, don't you? ;);)

I'm trying to phrase this the right way. Frankly, the caucasion race throughout the history of this country have belittled and marginalized African-Americans whenever given the opportunity and a willing audience. It's a terrible thing to say, but it's entirely true. And I'm ashamed of it, just as everyone should be. It's a history that deserves to be remembered, however, so the same thing is not done to another race of people.

Even after Lincoln freed the slaves, how many more years was it before they received the right to vote? And it was only in the 70s that interracial marriages were illegal in this country. What's that all about?

And now we have this problem with prison sentences. It's a real issue.

I think everyone in this country - white, black, asian, hispanic, gay, straight, whatever - should be treated exactly how the consitution states - that all men are created equal. When that day comes, I will be one happy white guy. ;);)

Hmmm. I have heard of him, but could use a history lesson please. I know that he was murdered horribly, but kinda fuzzy on the rest.

Sometimes.

I'm glad you're making some interesting and valid points.

I am kind of slow today....I didn't know that the author was Jerome Corsi. I can't believe that he actually went to launch his "book" in Kenya.

I hear ya. I'm trying to catch Y&R and reading this thread at the same time. It's good today.

Anyway.....yeah. I thought that was strange as well.

ET was a young black teen who, while on vacation down south, supposedly wnet into a local store and whistled at a white woman.

Later that evening, two white men came to his house, dragged him out of his bed, took him to a creek......and bashed his head in with a huge rock. They then tied him to it and left him there to drown.

The men were caught. But, an all-white jury aquited both men of his murder.

Obama Hatred On Display Again At Palin Rally, Supporter Screams "Treason!"

In the latest instance of inflammatory outbursts at McCain-Palin rallies, a crowd member screamed "treason!" during an event on Tuesday after Sarah Palin accused Barack Obama of criticizing U.S. troops.

"[Obama] said, too, that our troops in Afghanistan are 'air raiding villages and killing civilians,'" Palin said, mischaracterizing a 2007 remark by Obama. "I hope Americans know that is not what our brave men and women in uniform are doing in Afghanistan. The U.S. military is fighting terrorism and protecting us and protecting our freedom."

Shortly afterward, a male member of the crowd in Jacksonville, Florida, yelled "treason!" loudly enough to be picked up by television microphones.

At a Palin rally on Monday, television stations picked up audio of a crowd member calling Obama a "terrorist," while Dana Milbank reported that "[o]ne Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, 'Sit down, boy.'" Also on Monday, at a McCain rally, one member of the audience yelled, "Kill him!"

During Tuesday's event, Palin continued her frontal assault on Obama's character by noting Bill Ayers after repeating a debunked lie about the Illinois Democrat's tax record that even McCain himself has stopped using.

Referencing an explanation put forward by David Axelrod on Monday -- that Obama was not aware of Ayers's past when they first met in Chicago -- Palin mocked Obama's foreign policy knowledge, saying: "And since he got called up on his plans to meet unconditionally with terror state leaders like [iranian President] Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, will now claim that he was unaware of his radical background?"

Palin's political shot was effective with the Republican faithful, drawing a deep, collective "ooooh." As substance, it was less than edifying. Obama has repeatedly made clear that, of course, he finds Ahmadinejad's views to be "hateful and anti-Semitic," most recently on the occasion of the Iranian President's visit to the UN.

Later, in the tax policy section of her speech, Palin managed to repeat a thoroughly debunked claim about Obama's voting record that even McCain himself has stopped using.

"He voted 94 times for higher taxes. Even on middle class -- hard working everyday families across this great nation -- making $42,000 a year," she said.

As FactCheck.org noted in August, McCain's campaign originally claimed Obama voted to raise taxes on families making $32,000 a year, but have since changed their tax ads to say that Obama's vote would impact individuals making $42,000 per year -- not families as Palin repeated today. Still, FactCheck called the new McCain ad script "better, but still deceptive" -- a standard that Palin failed to meet this morning.

Oh, no. :(:( That's horrible. Hopefully the men that did that to him are burning in hell.

<sigh> Reading that article just makes me :( that a group of people could be that hateful. This part in particular disturbed me.

Dana Milbank reported that "[o]ne Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, 'Sit down, boy.'"

:( What is this country coming to.

McCain Palin. I guess you can say they're synonymous with divisiveness.

Roman, I'm going to do what you were accused of earlier....I'm going to go lurk anonymously until you know who comes back so I can bring this all about again.

Seriously, though....BBL.

The Mccain camp REALLY needs to stop with this [!@#$%^&*]. These accusations about Obama being a terrorist is getting out of hand with supporters of Mccain/Palin screaming "Kill Obama" and stuff like that. It's getting out of hand!

Rachel Maddow show had the 2 outburst on. One audience member yell "Terrorist" during a McCain speech. the other yelled "kill him" during Palin. This is horrific. We don't need candidates who try to polariize us. This is the only way that McShame can win. I have lost what little respect I have ever had for that man.

His health plan will partially be funded by cutting Medicare, mostly on Seniors. I couldn't tell you about any of his other plans, because I haven't heard them.

He is, as I said earlier, not country first. He wants to be president (in the words of Malcom X) "by any means necessary". And he doesn't give a damn if he tears this country apart to get it.

Now, Casey, you didn't actually condone McCain's use of the racial epitat, but you didn't show any disgust in the fact that he used it. It was a very soft reprimand. My question is how can you expect someone to effectively lead if they harbor such a hatred to a group of people?

I hope ypu stay on the board, but you do need to realize that you say a lot of inflammatory things and you often use double speak to defend yourself. (my observation)

So, I'm looking forward to the debates tonight. I think McCain will have a tough job. He will have to work very hard to contain his obvious dislike for Obama. I think he may blow it. He has come across as condescending and sarcastic lately when confronted,i.e. his meeting with the Des Moines Register editorial board, his interaction or non-interaction with Obama at the Senate vote on the rescue bill.

As a child of the 60s who lived in the south (New Orleans), I never want to go back to those days. I watched people washed down with fire hoses, beat with billy clubs. My mom tried to shelter us. She was light enough to be thought of as white, so she used it to her advantage to get a seat on the bus, or not sit in the balcony at the movie theaters, or drink from the closest water fountain.. While those things are not prevelant in our society any more, racism rears it's ugly head in our judicial system. I agree GGL, this is what has to change in order for all men to be treated fairly. I view the justice system as one of the ways to totally disenfranchise an entire group of people. The effects of this somewhat lopsided system effects entire communities.

Now, I have to get back to work.

Its really disturbing to see how there are still groups in the USA that can show up at a Palin-McCain rally and scream such hateful things. What is even more disturbing is thatPalin and McCain are encouraging it. These are the two close minded bigots you want leading your country in the 21st century? Dear dear.

Its the only thing they know how to do when their down. Its classic scare tactics. McCain aides have publically said if they make this campaign on the issues they lose, and din't someone say this election shouldn't be about the issues? Like wtf is that. It ALWAYS should be about the issues and how said candidate plans to handle the issues.

It's scary, Adam. I just don't understand how someone could back that ticket.

Again, IA. The issues should be the primary discussion topic, but it's come to this. Character assassination. Smear tactics and fear mongoring are the only way they will get in the White House. At times, it scares me that people will buy this crap and end up electing McCain on election day. Hopefully not, but it still concerns me.
