Your rationale is weak. People can be brilliant and say stupid things (not that I know anything about Ifill's cousin). People can think the world of their relatives and those relatives can still say stupid things so complimenting her cousin does not constitute and implicit agreement of everything her cousin says.

Again with the apples and oranges since Ifill isn't running for office.

We have no idea what McCain has said or will say about his brother. What we do know is that his brother is for all intents and purposes his surrogate since he was out campaigning on his behalf. Now none of us are saying that McCain shares his brother's beliefs....yet it's hard for you to acknowledge that Ifill is not a candidate and so irrelevant and that she doesn't have to believe everything her cousin says.

First of all, you weren't "baited" into anything. Congrats on picking up on Palin-speak, though.

I'll repeat myself again in relation to the death penalty. I responded with that point after you posted an article saying the Vatican called the Democratic party some off-color name. You said that they were "tried and convicted" as justification for this policy.

I asked you what happens when an innocent person is convicted. It happens all the time, don't you agree with that? Anyone could get an unfair trial, specifically when a minority defendant is facing a jury not of his/her peers, but one that could be racially biased. That's one example of someone getting an unfair trial. Which brings me to this. In all his years as govenor, why didn't GWB give at least one person the benefit of the doubt? If he, and the Republican party, truly believe in a "culture of life" then this would have been the first thing he would have done.

If I remember correctly, there was a Republican govenor up north a few years ago, that rescinded all death penalties because he said there was no way to tell who received a fair trial and who didn't. That's a Republican that I could get behind.

Ugh. Do you think John McCain is an idiot? If he isn't then why does he have his brother out on the campaign trail for him, on his behalf, saying things like this?

And let's see....."communists", "terrorist", "gook". Need I go on? These are words members of your party have said throughout this election season.

Read above...I took this as a challenge to "defend McCain's record"...How about you Roman? What did you mean by addressing me personally and then say I do other things instead of "defend McCain's record"...

Baited..challenge..

You were ready to jump on anything I said...explaining why McCain said what he said...

I stand by my comments. McCain should have known better, BUT I can see why he would say he hates the Viet Kong.

I favor capital punishment. Our legal system may be imperfect, but I still think extreme murderers should be put to death.

Are you saying that no one should be put to death? Do you have a solution to ensuring everyone has a "fair trial"?

I haven't even heard of John McCain's brother...or anything communist about him..Where are you getting this info?

Who has said "gook" throughout this election? You are losing me there...

No wonder you back McCain! He can't take responsibility for anything either.

Damn.

Not that it matters to you but maybe the next person might be interested.....I'm not sure whether you are a bigot or not simply because of the things you've expressed about me to me.

I tend to think that you are more misguided and less bigoted but since I'm just basing that on your posts, I could be way off the mark.

When you think that a person has to be black in order to say that another person is being persecuted because he/she is black, then it comes across as bigoted but at a minimum it's backwards.

And because I said this:

You decided that the solution was for me to learn how to be more sensitive to white people because you clearly couldn't have contributed in any way to the issue:

Hmmmm.....how could anyone even entertain the thought that you might be a bigot?

I don't think anyone really cares whether you leave this thread or not and considering you've threatened to befor.....who's going to believe you will anyway....really?

I stand corrected on the "gook" word being used in this election. Joe McCain didn't call himself a communist. He called people in Northern VA communists. There was an article posted earlier today. And then we have the "terrorist" bullshit being said by Palin. Do you see any of this crap coming from the Democrats? Any name-calling? Nope.

I'm saying that throughout GWB's term as governor, he never felt there was one person that deserved to be spared. This coming from a man that says he believes in a "culture of life". This coming from a party that moved heaven and earth to help Schiavo here in Florida before helping someone on death row.

I am torn on the death penalty. I have some ideas on how to help people have a fair trial. The first would be to ensure that everyone has a jury seated of their peers, and one that would start as sympathetic to the defendant, not the prosecution. This would help to uphold that civil right "innocent until proven guilty". If you stack a jury full of people sympathetic to the state, then what conclusion would you expect?

Secondly, racial bias of any type would have to be removed from the jury pool.

However, the disparity in sentencing between African-Americans and Caucasion needs to be addressed. How is it that the minorities have the largest presence in prison? Doesn't that raise your eyebrows a little?

1. I have never gave a [!@#$%^&*] what you did.

2. WTF are you defending or not defending? You have no problem with him calling the Viet Cong "gooks" and now you say you did not condone his use of the word.

You should have gotten a job with his campaign. Nobody there can stay on message either.

I bow to you.
