Palin accuses 'Obama-Biden Democrats' of spreading 'lies'

Posted: 03:15 PM ET

From CNN's Emily Sherman

Palin accused 'Obama-Biden Democrats,' of attacking her family Monday.

(CNN)— Governor Sarah Palin accused “Obama-Biden Democrats,” of launching a series of unfair attacks against she and her family in a fundraising email sent to supporters Monday.

“Friends, in the course of a few weeks, the Obama-Biden Democrats have launched attack after attack on me, my family and John McCain,” Palin writes in the email. “They’re desperate to win and they’ll no doubt launch these attacks against other reformers on our ticket.”

Earlier this month, the McCain campaign said its $47 million fundraising record for the month of August was due in large part to the addition of the Alaska governor to the ticket. Her presence on the campaign trail has also translated into larger crowds at campaign events throughout the country.

Palin said Obama and Biden have a “large financial advantage,” urging supporters that a contribution of any size will help stop the spread of “lies” and “misinformation” coming from Democrats.

“We must stop them,” Palin writes, “…before they turn these shameful tactics on others we support.”

Frankly, I'm surprised the NRA didn't do this sooner. It's an obvious distortion of Obama's plan of record but will play well to those less educated on the issue. That's the sad part. Of course, the Reps and McCain won't say anything about the ad because it might cost them a couple of hick votes. JMHO.

This makes me so glad that I'm not on some politician's email list because this kind of thing cluttering my inbox would turn me off in a flash. I'd rather read ten emails from Adobe pitching their priducts than grade school caliber email from someone aspiring to be President or VP.

I watched MSNBC then CNN briefly. I guess the format of David Gregory's show must have changed since he seems to be doing more one on one exchanges. I listened to Mitt Romney for a little bit and kind of went deaf to the partisan words coming out of his mouth. What struck me was how comfortably he was speaking as opposed to McCain's style which makes him seem like he's lost or unsure of what he's saying. Romney just exuded confidence and ease.

CNN's Jack Cafferty said he was obligated to ask silly questions sometimes. He begrudgingly asked his poll question about McCain's cars and he made it clear that he found the whole topic of the cars and which weren't American made, and the idiotic conference call by some Democrats and a car company union official a waste of time. ITA with him on that. The thing that captured my attention though, was Wolf Blitzer tried to enlighten the viewers as to why the car issue and how many homes McCain has is important to the viewers. He explained how it might make McCain seem to be out of touch. There was this somewhat uncomfortable moment after Cafferty, in his own way, acknowledged that he couldn't relate since he only had one house....

Bill Clinton's appearance on The View was mentioned but their tagline didn't seem to go with the clip they showed. I happened to catch his appearance since I wanted to see them pick his bones clean as Cindy McCain claims happened to her and her husband. They did ask him hard questions but the majority of the questions shouldn't have been asked, imo. He's not in the mind of Barack Obama so how can he tell them why Obama chose Biden and he had to answer way too many questions about what his wife was thinking or feeling.

They spent too long on that which gave him less time to address the charges that his administration contributed to the current economic problems. He did a great job of putting a different perspective on it by implying that he can be blamed for not pursuing certain measures when he was in office....the things that the other elected officials didn't want to implement. And of course the current administration had sufficient time to find the problems and attempt to address them.

For serial? :P

I get these same kinds of emails from the Obama camp on almost a daily basis. John McCain is spreading lies...blah, blah, blah...help us stop him before he does it elsewhere....send just five bucks...blah, blah, blah...setting an unprecedented campaign...blah, blah, blah, Click here to contribute.

Comes with territory. This is not news.

What makes you say this? I believe I read a poll that the actual number of HRC voters who have switched to Palin (ie. McFREAKINGCain) is quite small.

I think you all are missing the boat on this Paying-for-the-Rape-Kit issue. The police chief was quoted as saying that's another 7000-14,000 on the budget. These rape kits are 1000$. Help me do the math. You're saying that there are 7-14 rapes each year in a town of 7000? Sounds to me like the problem is way more systemic than who's paying for the rape kit. Correct me if anything I've said rings false or I'm not getting something.

I don't know what you're not getting. What I said before is what I'm saying now.....no person who has had to suffer the horrors of rape should have to pay for the rape kit. Period. End of story. I don't care if TWO PEOPLE stayed in the entire STATE of Alaska.

And what said before on HRC voters, I'll say again.....no matter how small the number is, I can't understand how any HRC voter who has heard this information could still vote for a McCain/Palin ticket.

I hope that clears these things up. :)

Because they have to pay for the rape kits I have to wonder if the majority of people who get raped in Alaska even come forward? Because a rape kit is exactly like reliving it again and this happens just hours after it happens. Not days or months. Its hours. If I had three kids and was barely getting by and was leaving the grocery store and God Forbid I was raped and I knew that I had to pay for the kit, no way would I pay for the kit. So the person then goes free to do it again. This is why Alaska's crime rate against women is higher percentage wise over every other state. And cct, this was verified by several police chiefs in Alaska and by CNN. I absolutely believe this.

Would Hillary Rodham Clinton do this? Christine Todd Whitman? Dianne Feinstein? Nope. As a woman, I would rather be shot in the head than be raped. This should never happen.

Right now I am very worried about the economy and Wall Street. Mainly, I am worrying on whether or not I will have a job by the end of the year. I trust that Obama/Biden would help me more than McCain/Palin would. I live in NH and in the last couple weeks, there are a lot more Obama signs going up. I believe that NH will go Obama.

It seems like almost every survey shows that right now about 17 percent of Hillary's primary supporters will vote for McCain. Come election day, I hope that is less. I do not understand why any HRC voters would support him. Of course 83 percent of her supporters will support Obama. Now considering that 88 percent of Republicans are supporting McCain and 83 percent of Democrats are supporting Obama, I'd say that 83 percent of HRC voters supporting Obama is pretty consistent with what you would expect. I also think that more of the HRC voters will move toward Obama as the election grows closer.

Alaska does seem to have a big rape problem which makes the rape kit issue even more abhorrent.

McCain Steps Up Attacks on Obama

By Elisabeth Bumiller

MEDIA, Pa. — Senator John McCain intensified his political attacks against Senator Barack Obama late today as he charged that his Democratic rival was frozen in the face of the financial turmoil gripping the country.

“The truth is, we don’t have time to wait for Senator Obama to recover from his paralysis in the face of this crisis,’’ Mr. McCain told a roaring crowd at a rally outside the flag-draped Delaware County Courthouse here. Mr. McCain added, shouting, that “one week after this crisis began, Senator Obama has still not offered a plan of any kind’’ and that “Senator Obama has been M.I.A., my friends. That means missing in action.’’

Mr. McCain, a former prisoner of war in Vietnam, was reacting to what had been billed as a major speech by Mr. Obama on Monday afternoon in Green Bay, Wisc. Mr. Obama, who has said that he does not want his specific preferences to politicize the ongoing Congressional and White House negotiations over a bailout for the financial markets, did not offer any significant new proposals for the plan, although he urged both parties to reach an agreement quickly.

Mr. McCain appeared with his running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin, before a crowd of thousands that had been told by the local Republican party to wear red to the rally. Most did — including Ms. Palin, who had on a short red leather jacket.

She stuck to her standard stump speech, then split off from Mr. McCain for meetings with former Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger and the presidents of Afghanistan and Colombia at the United Nations on Tuesday. Mr. McCain headed for Ohio and a factory tour on Tuesday.
