Members JackPeyton
RyRy... I can understand that but disagree, sort of.. Not voting for one or the other just because the one gets the nom and the other doesnt is stupid, however not voting for someone you do not like, trust, or want as the pres? What is stupid in that? none of us do, yet so many chose to do such a thing. i agree right, because people only vote for her because shes white. he has as much right to say he didnt as you do to say he did. i want my old post count added exactly. Members Wales2004
I haven't finished going though all of these posts and there are some others to which I would like to respond but I'm going to take time to respond to this one first. I am not at all interested in raining and I'm not interested in coming down on you or anyone else for whatever they think because I wish we all had the ability to respect the opinions of others without it being a source of provocation. Unfortunately it's very hard to do because we are humans and we have emotions and are apparently quite passionate about the political scene. I don't subscribe to the term "black community" because I think it implies that black people are of one mind and that is not at all true. Economics is the main driving force so black people living under different conditions don't share the same experiences and outlook on life. That's true of humans period. I mean he did a lot for the community...do something for him and let him have another chance I think this is a very offensive/insulting statement because you're implying that black people owe Bill Clinton something and I want to know why? I want to know what it is he did because I have yet to to find out specifically what he did that places black people in his debt. It is my understanding that Nikki Giovanni (the poet labeling the first black president) did so because she felt he was being persecuted like a black man over the Monica Lewinsky scandal and that his upbringing was one to which some black people could relate. He played the saxophone on Arsenio Hall. He has an office in Harlem. He appointed some black people to cabinet positions and other positions while in office. Affirmative Action basically went away under him. And for people like Pat Buchanan who feel the welfare system is all about supporting black people, there was welfare reform. How do any of those things help all black people? By that standard, George Bush is good to black people as well since he appointed two of them to Secretary of State which is considered the second most powerful position internationally behind the president. Unless I am greatly mistaken, black voters helped Bill Clinton claim the presidency twice but now you think they owe him a second chance because he's done so much for them. I really hope there comes a day in your life when you realize how awful this sounds to people who see all people as humans.

Members Southofnowhere
Bill promised gays that he would allow them into the Milltary and instead came up with DADT and of course DOMA. What's shoking that many gays are chosing Hilary over Obama because of the whole anti-gay Preacher deal.
Members Jess
And people spend time tilting at windmills. Nobody has jumped on you any harder than you jump other people and defend Hillary. Now Hillary is toast. You can continue to pretend otherwise, but people are going to tell you she is toast. As far as celebration, why would you think that a board that isn't attached to Hillary Clinton or to Barack Obama is the place to go to a victory party. Also HIllary is NOT going to get the nomination. She has lost. She can continue to fly around the country and spend her money. Barack Obama is ignoring her and I think that is the best approach. Right now, Hillary Clinton is irrelevant.
Members Wales2004
I'm glad you're glad (and no, I'm not being sarcastic). CNN announced she was the winner with 0% showing as soon as the polls closed. There was no mystery that she was the winner and I guess you still don't accept the fact that they didn't project her the winner in IN until late is because they results were delayed and that was the case on other stations as well. I can't find the post in which you said HC won because she's white but I think it's unfair to imply that all the West Virginians that voted for her are racist. Not liking Obama or not liking his platform is not synonymous with racism. According to stated results of the exit poll, race did play a factor with 20% of the voters which was said to be double that of other exit poll results and shows that race was significantly more important in WV. I do believe that HC used that to her advantage but don't forget she's on a mission and fallout is secondary to winning.
Members Wales2004
Thanks Jess!!!! I don't want to quote your post but I appreciated it. I don't agree with you on the joint ticket thing because I think the negatives outweigh any potential positives which we can go over any time you like. Members Wales2004
Those votes do matter if those voters don't turn out in large enough numbers for her against McCain. Nobody knows whether he will get more of those votes once she's not an option. Democrats have two options and for those who didn't like either yesterday, they voted for John Edwards who is not even in the running but captured 7%. If John Edwards were a viable option, he might have won the primary yesterday so it's not as if HC is the only one who can get that demo. Plus for those 20% in WV and the 10% elsewhere who said race was a factor, pairing up with her won't make a difference since he's still going to be black. He doesn't need her on a ticket with him should he be the nominee. She's not the only one capable of capturing that demo and he'd be better off with someone who not only reaches out to that demo but to other demos as well. Members Jess
The ticket is not going to happen I don't think. I don't think he trusts her and really, why should he? Obama won the primary, he gets to be the nominee. It's certainly not going to be a Hillary/Obama ticket because Hillary isn't going to be the nominee. All these ridiculous arguments that she should be the nominee because she carried West Virginia, are ridiculous. Hillary not only has doomed her chances in this campaign, she doing a real good job making a mess of any chance she will have in the future. I don't like being called stupid either. I do think that anyone who supports McCain or doesn't vote democratic because Hillary lost is making the case of why Hillary will doomed in the future. For some time, I have thought that she would rather the party go down in flames than for Obama to get elected. If Obama is elected, she is out of the picture. He loses, well maybe she can run in four years. Her ambition is far greater than her desire to do good things.
