Now, the comment JB made could be taken as sexist, so I may or may not agree with that.

What Obama said was NOT sexist at all. He pointed out the truth. Bare facts.

Now it's kind of disturbing to me to think that all McCain supporters are happy with his choice of VP. I can't even imagine that kind of unilateral thinking.

Please enlighten me as to what dirt the Republicans have found on Obama that has not deterred his supporters. I would really love to know what it is and I mean something he specifically did and not any of that guilt by association business.

The hypocrisy of the GOP's religious branch is what's mind boggling as well. So they wanted Jamie Lynn Spears booted from Nickolodeon and said had she been saved she wouldn't have gotten pregnant at 16 but now it's okay for Bristol Palin who presumably is saved to be pregnant at 17.

Like I said earlier, his judgment and his "experiance" that he uses while making his judgments are the pillars of his whole campaign..... if you ask me he is a friggin hypocrite for picking someone like Gov. Palin. It truly boggles my mind that god forbid something were to happen to John McCain, this person would be leader of the free world.....

Well Sherri Shephard agrees with you since she thinks having five children is qualification enough for being a president.

I think if say John Kerry had made such a choice when he was running your party would have been all over it but it's okay because she's Republican.

All I know of is his "guilty by association" dirt. He visited with radicals William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. His 20 year membership in the church with Reverend Wright...so on.. I didn't know that would be considered off limits. If that is the case then Palin should not be held accountable for the actions of her daughter, because she has no control over them. Obama does have control over who he associates with. It leads one to believe that he would share the same views as his associates. Why else would he even become involved with them?

Futhermore, Palin has not been charged with any wrong doing in her firing of the official in Alaska. Other than these two issues, I'm not understanding what is with all of the Palin negativity.

I think she is qualified to be VP because she has been the top executive of a state government. The difference in decision making of an executive and a legislator is vast. McCain realized the importance her experience in that respect will add to his administration.

She actually recieved more votes when she was elected as Mayor of Wasilla than Joe Biden did in his bid for President this year.

I couldn't agree more. The President should have strong advisors around him. Who told him about Palin? Who did the checking? She is a governor of a state that although large in size, is small in number. There are rumors that her oldest child is really her youngest child's mother. (Which leaves me to wonder about the abstience and contraceptive talk that all parents have a responsibility to talk about with their children). Her own state is investigating her. She has less than two years of governorning her state. We are in a war right now. She could very easily end up as commander in chief.

This is where Republicans and Democrats disagree. We feel that Obama is not ready to be CIC because of his thin resume. While we do feel McCain is ready from day one. I do not want to have to go through a period of "learning" with Obama. That to me is scary. I am afraid that Iran, N. Korea, Russia, or China might try to bully the inexperienced Obama.

Palin, at least, will be learning as second in command instead of vise versa.

I digress, McCain is our top guy, and If we felt that his health was in danger or that he might not serve his entire term, then I don't think he would have made it out of the primaries. I'm trying to understand the logic and the judgement of the democratic voter. This issue was flushed out by Hillary Clinton during the primaries (with the 3am ads). Obama is your chosen one. If the CIC position is of such importance to you now, why then do you feel Obama was the best choice?

I didn't say it was off limits, I asked for genuine dirt as in hie being investigated or the like.

I can't believe you're comparing her daughter to Obama's associates and saying the one is okay but the other isn't because he's an adult. Even if she can't control her children, she's still legally responsible for their actions until they're 18 and probably forever if they are mentally incompetent. But that's besides the fact since I've basically defended her on her daughter's pregnancy anyway.

Just because I don't fault her doesn't mean there isn't a great deal of hypocrisy on the subject.....especially since people giving her a free pass for having human problems went after Jamie Lynn Spears saying she wasn't saved hence her teen pregnancy.

Unlike you, I don't think being a member of a church makes a person responsible for the actions of their minister(s) or other members. Most people I know who call themselves Christians go to church for social reasons more than anything else. If people were practicing then the world would be a peaceful place with no poverty, violence, etc. If people are judged by their associations then there are a whole lot of people guilty of all sorts of things about which they have no knowledge.

The bottom line is you're comparing apples to oranges as far as I'm concerned. Obama was already in the race for months when what you call dirt arose. It's been what five days for Palin and it's not like a cross section of the country have connected with her before the drudge came out. I don't think that people felt sorry that Obama's associations were being made into a crime and then said hmmm I feel sorry for him, I'll vote for him. I think it was more like his supporters brushing it off.

The hyprocricy that really makes you laugh and shake your head is that Obama (Who has been in the public eye for well over a year) is too unknown and inexperieced to be POTUS, but Palin (Who 3/4 of the country never heard of until Friday) is supposed to be taken at face value for being one step away from the Big Chair.

If Obama had picked a woman with as little experience as Governor Palin, the people now praising her would be blasting him as too inexperienced to lead.

As questions have been raised over how thoroughly Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign vetted Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for the V.P. slot, it seems the McCain campaign was unaware of a video -- available online -- in which Palin talks about God's role in U.S. military action overseas, according to a political operative familiar with the situation.

The video, first reported by the liberal blog HuffingtonPost.com, is from a June Palin speech to the graduating class of commission students at Palin's former church in Wasilla, Alaska. While describing her family, Palin told students about her oldest son, 19-year-old Track, who is set to be deployed to Iraq this month with the U.S. Army. She urged students to pray “that our leaders -- that our national leaders -- are sending [soldiers] out on a task that is from God.”

She added, “That's what we have to make sure that we are praying for: that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan.”

“It's pretty uncomfortable stuff,” said the political operative, after watching the video online. “It's bad. It's really bad. … It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out.”

In addition to talking about Iraq, Palin also referred to God's role in her work as governor.

“I can do my part in working really, really hard to get a natural gas pipeline, about a $30 billion project that's going to create a lot of jobs for Alaska. … [but] I think God's will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that,” she said. “I can do my job there in developing our natural resources, in doing things like getting the roads paved and making sure our troopers have their cop cars and their uniforms and their guns, and making sure our public schools are funded. But really that stuff doesn't do any good if the people of Alaska's hearts aren't right with God.”

It wasn't all serious, though. At one point during the address, Palin praised the graduating class as “a bunch of cool-looking Christians.” Then she picked out one student in the crowd and said with a smile, “Ben, I don't know you well enough yet, but looking at you, I'm thinking, people are going to interested in Jesus Christ through you because of the way you look - this red-headed Sasquatch for Jesus. You look good!” The students cheered. “Times are really changin'. And with the times that change, looks even change.”

The seven-minute speech is posted on the Web site of Palin's former church, the Wasilla Assembly of God. But, the political operative said, the McCain campaign seems to have had no knowledge of it when Palin was announced as McCain's running mate on Friday.

If you have defended her on the pregnancy issue then what is your major gripe with Palin? Is it the investigation?

IA that Obama voters brushed off the aligations against him, much like republicans are doing with Palin's. That is the point I was trying to make.

I like the fact that most of the comparisons have been transposed into Obama/Palin comparisons rather than Obama/McCain.

Personally, I would rather compare Obama/McCain and Palin/Biden. I think it becomes more balanced in this respect.
