That's a shame. I strongly dislike Culliton as a head writer, but I can say for certain that his scripts are terrific. I loved the dialog he wrote for Nuke on ATWT -- it was absolutely honest and relatable. He and Peter Brash wrote terrific dialog for Luke and Noah last summer.

That being said, I don't want him back at AMC in any capacity. He burned that bridge with me during his 2001-2002 HW stint.

Well, I guess the Passions directors are used to directing crappy paced scenes and stories.

What's up with all the freelance directors?! Remember the days when each show had it's own stable of directors?

Y&R no longer has a real directing team. I think only Sally McDonald, Dean LaMont, and Andrew Lee are their main directors. McDonald and LaMont are great, Lee is just blah with me....

One of the many reasons Y&R is in the state its in. The once stable show, no longer has any stable facets. Its sad and pathetic.

Is anyone familiar with the way canceled soap 'The Doctors' was written?

It has the most unique credits of any American soap opera I've ever seen. I wasn't alive to see the show during its run, but from I've seen of it on youtube, I love it.

Anyway, Toupsy has a set of credits from the show from 1981. I know the show was originally created as an anthology series, but morphed into a soap opera.

The credits list "Story By" and "Teleplay By." These credits are typically reserved for primetime series', I've never seen them on a daytime serial. Anyway, does anyone, perhaps any fans of the show itself, know how this show was written and if it differed a lot from the writing process of more traditional soaps?

I don't think it differed from the standard. The credits you quoted only mean Elizabeth Levin wrote the outline and David Cherrill wrote the script, i.e. the dialogue. Actually, if you think about it, this is possibly the best way to differentiate outliners from scripters.

Well, Steve's link will provide you with some more detailed information, but the bottom line is this: he was a very respected British writer who started his career on Coronation Street as an archivist and later got to be a scriptwriter for the show during the years which saw Corrie rise in quality. Then after several years, he left the soap, saying it was because he "wasn't enjoying it anymore", but the real reason was – money.

He then created a Hollyoaks spinoff Hollyoaks: In the City, a soap about goings-on in the modelling agency, which some thought was brilliant, but many thought was cr*p.

Next, after a brief scriptwriting stint with Hollyoaks, we se him scabbing for AMC during strike (he started in November) and is now under WGA investigation. Possibly, he will also face some serious consequences from the Writers' Guild of Great Britain (I truly, truly hope he will!).

Also, we found out that actually AMC is written by an armada of consultants (even during McTavish's era) and the admirals of the armada were and are: Dona Cooper (who "left" 8 years ago, but was actually fired; she now teaches screenwriting at the North Carolina School of the Arts and is a big fan of Megan's, apparently – she brought her back in 1997 and 2003), Sue Johnson, Brian Frons etc.
