BIG BROTHER AFTER DARK RETURNS!!

So excited, I can't even wait! So many nights last year, nothing at all happened. But then other nights, the drama was palpable! Remember everyone getting to watch Daniele shiver and cry in the cold 'rain' as she battled it out on BBAD against Dick and Zach for the final HoH? Dick burning Jen with the cigarette as it cuts abruptly to commercial? Classic [!@#$%^&*]!

Also, the last line of this press release confirms that it will be a full three month season... not just a six week season as was rumored before. Sweetness!

Here's the press release...

SHOWTIME ANNOUNCES RETURN OF BIG BROTHER: AFTER DARK

Big Brother: After Dark, an exclusive live three hour feed of the first winter edition of the CBS hit reality series BIG BROTHER starting Tuesday, February 12th at 12:00 AM ET/PT on SHO2

LOS ANGELES, CA – (January 8, 2008) – CBS and Showtime will once again partner to bring viewers Big Brother: After Dark, an exclusive, live televised look inside the BIG BROTHER house after the network prime-time cameras have been turned off. Big Brother: After Dark will feature a live television feed from the "Big Brother" house for three hours (12:00–3:00 AM, ET/PT), seven days a week, on the cable network's SHO2 multiplex channel beginning Tuesday, February 12th at 12:00 AM ET/PT. The announcement was made today by Robert Greenblatt, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc.

“Big Brother: After Dark was a big success for us at bringing an audience to very late night time periods on SHO2. This began as an experiment with our friends at Endemol and CBS, and I'm happy that it worked so well for all of us,” said Greenblatt. “I'm amazed at how much curiosity there is about what goes on in the Big Brother house after the lights are out, but what better place to present that than on SHOWTIME where we have a lot of on-air real estate in the wee hours of the morning.”

The first winter edition of BIG BROTHER will premiere on CBS Tuesday, February 12th and air every Tuesday at 9:00 PM ET/PT, Wednesday at 8:00 PM ET/PT and Sunday at 8:00 PM ET/PT. The series follows the relationships and conflicts of players who live together in a house outfitted with dozens of cameras and microphones recording their every move 24 hours a day. One by one, the houseguests will vote each other out of the house. At the end of three months, the last remaining houseguest will receive the grand prize.

From RealityBBQ:

(none of this has been 100% confirmed, by the way)

The extras are in the house right now getting everything working and ready for February 12th, but we can give you an inside view of what the house looks like!

* The house is extremely colorful - so colorful that it might take us time to get used to.

* The living room and kitchen are decorated like a winter cabin "on crack" -- logs and stones, like the wallpaper on the third level during BB8 -- to match the winter season. They even have that basement-esque white birch mural paper up in the Diary Room! The living room also sports a circular couch for the big happy houseguest family.

* The third level is no longer the log wallpaper and is instead bookshelf wallpaper. I sense themes… everywhere.

* The "Head of Household" room has a surfer theme! The other bedrooms have low walls which divide up a little bit of individual space for the houseguests (to promote sexual activity?) - great idea! One room has a nautical them! Fun.

* The backyard now sports a firepit to keep the houseguests warm on the frosty winter nights. The pool is also heated now!

This could be true, or BS. I have no clue. A guy dropped into chat... and said the new house is very colorful. That the backyard has firepits and a heated pool.

The kitchen/dining room is decorated like a cabin in the woods, for winter. HOH is a surfer-like room.

Diary Room is weird looking. It won't have the crunchy paper. The hamsters go in next Friday. They're already in sequester... "because Julie Chen has begun filming Entertainment Tonight segments... and will reveal a secret sooner than expected."

If both BB's do well this year, we'll get 2 BB's next year as well. 6 women 6 men. Plus 2 more women and 2 more men... who will be at a different location (like UK BB) and have different rules. (Personally, I think this particular information is too advanced to be accurate. Plus, it's confusing, LoL!)

Evel Dick will have a small role "in the way that he will only be doing promo commercials for Showtime... nothing else."

"Listen to the song (in the promos). Dirty Little Secret. It's a first person lyric... first person being Big Brother... meaning the houseguests don't have secrets.. the house does. Meaning there could be more people somewhere else. And different rules."

And there you have it. Is any of it true? We'll find out shortly, I imagine!

Sounds interesting if true!

    • John loved Sami unconditionally and forever
    • On May 27, Johnny spoke to Sami on the phone, and learned that Sami and Sydney were trying to fly in from Sicily, but were stopped by a volcanic eruption because the ash had grounded all the planes. As discussed on the May thread, ash from Mt. Etna in Sicily caused planes to be grounded in summer 2024, so Cwikly/Ford would have known that.  (I just learned that Mt. Etna has been considered "active" with intermittent activity since 2022.) Friday May 30, Will said that Sami and Sydney found another flight and will be here soon. Well, Sami and Sydney got out just in time, because … There was (and still is ongoing) a huge eruption of Mt. Etna that began very early Monday morning June 2 Italy time (which would be Sunday night June 1st Chicago time) and a volcanic ash plume had reached an altitude of around 6,400 metres (around 3 or 4 miles high) https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/mount-etna-eruption-volcano-smoke-lava-live-updates-b2761911.html
    • Agree to disagree. Like first, love second. OH, agree, agree, agree! Legendary Featherstone, you're not dressing this one well at all. Petite woman with ample bosom, wrong clothes = awful  matronly looking ugh. I'm sorry but I felt hit over the head with everything each of them thought & felt for about 6 more days than I felt I had signed on for.  I don't know you well enough to know if you will know when I'm teasing, so I've just warned you that I am when I say, I hate for you that you haven't actually met Danielle before. LOL. To me it was just a natural take.  I have no problem going back & forth between those two focal sites. But, I am certainly aware that early on I had an expectation of being really into their having 27 sets & that has definitely not been the realization. And, yes, for now, Frank is still heads above any & all others with us & sets IMO.  Huh? Guza gone. I have it in my head that he was only willing to come out of retirement (and presumed mourning) for a "certain amount of time" to help get this new creature launched, but had no desire to stay & so was one of the "over-staffed intentionally" that we were told about. Of course there's been no official word on the circumstances of his leaving.  But, you might mean go with Guza as in a style, if so, ignore the last para.

    • I'm so pleased we have such fan engagement about Dani. Reminds me of some other soap characters. I think it's because they are "polarizers" which is a word I may have just made up. They are polarizing on their shows to other characters & to story & they are polarizing in the audience as fans seem to have extreme reactions to them, love & hate, not middling neutrality, ya know? Well, it's a theory.  To me the human being you seek has been amply shown especially to two people & both more or less recently. Her sister bond with Nicole, whoa, has knocked me back & blown me away. And, with Chelsea, over her budding sexual identity and awareness. She gathered instantly that something was up with that daughter & was laser focused on her for several scenes. Then, for a third, she & Pamela have finally, also recently, been so real & genuine & authentic.
    • Thanks, Paul, I did not know about his interest in the comedic elements or that he was one of our many people who came from the network! I have always liked Marlena de la Croix's writing, which is not to say I 100% agree with her. She's been a member of my FB soap group for a good long time & she actually posts, which I love. Recently I posted about an e-copy of Robert LaGuardia's SOAP WORLD that is free to borrow like a library e-book but on the Internet Archive site & I posted that at the time of their publications, all of his soap opera books were the gold standard.  She immediately posted about "Bob" who was her close friend & how much she still misses him to this day & that he loved to talk soaps & was also a nice guy, etc. which I was over the moon to have her share about the author & his time etc. like that!!!
    • Just more RTD ego trips, seemingly his main reason for coming back.
    • Thanks @Paul Raven  That's a lovely writeup. Do fans feel it was warranted?
    • So I was reminded that we're now meant to be celebrating PRIDE by this amazing post:

I really wonder why they chose to write this whole ‘John is getting better’ part of the storyline, especially since we all knew what was really going to happen. And I hope we find out the answer someday. But as tough and as tearjerking as today was, it was also really beautiful. And the acting, even though a lot of it if not all of it was real, was spectacular. The flashbacks were beautiful too. I honestly can’t even describe how much I enjoyed today.  Having so many of John and Marlena’s scenes be focused on the two of them and their love story was the right decision. It was a fitting end to John and Marlena. And I’m also glad that John and Steve got to have one last goodbye after everything that happened. As for Bo and Hope and their family, I did think that some parts were a little unnecessary but I really enjoyed Bo’s dream and his reunion with Zack. The acting playing Zack actually did a pretty good job too. Everybody encouraging Bo to fight was really the right decision in this storyline as well.  As for the final minutes of today, be prepared. I actually have tears running down my cheeks as I write this.
