AMC: Lucci on AMC...

Mulcahey said he's a lifer at B&B and has no plans of leaving. Unfortunately, I do think Frons wants strong control over the stories told, which could run away other writers. Hasn't it been rumored that Alden was offered the AMC gig in April, but turned them down because she didn't like the way they run things? I don't see why they wouldn't just give her what she wanted.

The only thing I'd change? I'd make it a Fan February event, with 20 lucky viewers chosen (randomly, of course) to deliver the blows. One viewer per episode, for each episode of the month.

That oughta teach that Liz not to dash my hopes for her and Lucky, for a piece of that glorified Universal Soldier's ass!

About time Susan opened that trap of hers! I love her, but I always thought she never cared much for the state of the show, since she never hasn't anything ill to say about it.

AMC is IN DIRE NEED of not only a new Head Writer, but a new Executive Producer. If Erika Slezak's rant got some change at OLTL, I think La Lucci can pull off the same at AMC ........hopefully!

With the way Frons micro-manages the ABC soaps, I don't see a talented and strong-willed writer ever being employed there. Face it, Frons wants people who he can mold and impose his vision on.

AMC has lost so much of its core, truly a shadow of its former self. At this point, I wonder if anyone can indeed turn this show around. :(

That is pretty great--and new for Lucci. The closest I remember to her complainign about the show before was when McTavish came back and did the whole Bianca rape story Lucci was on the View and admitted that the last few years amc had "really lost its direction" but seemed to be getting back on course--and at the time THAT comment sounded liek harsh words coming from her...

Shelly and her husband are LA based, she probably won't even consider the move to NYC to produce AMC.

Mulcahey is a script writer, and the damn best one in the business. I'm not too sure how he would work as a head writer, and I'm sure as hell he wouldn't work for Frons and AMC. Remember that interview Toups posted with Mulcahey a while back? He left GH because some executives at ABC told him that he needed to "dumb down the dialogue" in order to appeal to a wider audience. He left Santa Barbara for similar reasons. On B&B, Bradley gives him relatively free control and network interference isn't prominent on that show. On AMC, he would have to deal with Frons constantly imposing his vision on him, so that will never happen.

Why not? Julie Hanan Carruthers did.

Except, if AMC falls into enough trouble, Frons would have no choice but to allow Mulcahey to write AMC as he sees fit. (Whatever Mulcahey would have to do to get ratings up, Frons might figure, just get them up.) I think something similar's happening right now w/ OLTL and Ron Carlivati - and if Frons can keep his ego out of the way long enough, Carlivati just might make OLTL one of the best once more.

I don't think B&E will be back after the strike, either. I'm not sure why (I mean it took Frons long enough to get rid of Megan so that mean would mean B&E wouldn't be discarded so early, right?) But to look at things carefully: Megan started off at AMC with a bang -- B&E's bang lasted for a couple of weeks and it's been dull & boring ever since. Plus the ratings are crap.

Susan Lucci -- she rarely speaks negatively in print, but trust me (and I have this on extremely, extremely good authority) -- girl sure doesn't have a problem complaining behind-the-scenes. Not to sound that she's a complainer, but when she doesn't like a storyline, she makes it known to the EP. She did this when Erica kidnapped Maddie ten years ago. She also complained heavily when Megan was writing in 1999 (and I would assume during her third stint, too, though I've heard nothing about it directly).

I would like to see Shelley Curtis as an EP, somewhere. I think she would be wonderful back at GH. I think she would move to New York no problem to executive produce. She won't move to NYC just to be a director (and that's why she only freelances at AMC for Carruthers every now and then).
