Frons is in charge of ABC Daytime, and he has shown that he does not care for AMC. He has shown a modicum of interest in OLTL, and enjoys GH completely. Which show do you think will be cancelled first under his watch? The moment GH tanks (well, it is already tanking), is the moment AMC is cancelled. Do you all want AMC to be cancelled? The same scenario applies to Y&R and ATWT/GL because both shows, especially GL, are dependant on Y&R's ratings. When Y&R tanks so do...If PGP decides to cancel GL next year, why would they not do the same with ATWT? Why would they invest millions of dollars into a dying genre when ATWT is only slightly higher rated than GL? It would be like killing two birds with one stone.

"I am a sick man.....I am a spiteful man. No I am not a pleasant man at all. I believe there is something wrong with my liver. However, I do not know a damn thing about my liver; neither do I know whether there is anything really wrong with me. I am not under medical treatment, and never have been, though I do respect medicine. (I am well educated enough not to be superstitious , but I am superstitious for all that.) The truth is, I refuse medical treatment out of spite."

Fyodor Dostoevsky.

What does this have to do with what happened on GH today or any other day this week?.....absolutely nothing. 'Heading back to the bottle of vodka now. <_<

God forbid some of us don't drink Guza's kool-aid. God forbid we speak out about a show that many of us have grown up watching. Falling in love with a show that was written so well, and produced even better. I mean, hey, I guess we're just supposed to accept mediocrity, because you know...being a soap fan is only commenting and praising the agenda ridden stories of the hack writers. <_<

I'll be right there on the sidelines Toups, cheering on the furthered downfall of GH. This show should have gotten new people in charge years ago. GH was pulling a high 3 in early 05, the show can't even break a 2.5 now...but wait a minute....things are good. <_<

But we all know how things go Toups. If certain favorites weren't shown on a regular basis, or began being written even more out of character than they already are, the shoe would be on the other foot. But that's the norm with some fans nowadays. People only want to hear "Go this, and go that" and "wow this was great." I mean it's ok as long as we're saying that. Even when we do make positive comments, it's glossed over and ignored, instead always being tagged as a "GH Hater". Saying that the "GH haters" feel it's a "crime" when others are enjoying the show.

IMO, being a soap fan is about expressing your like...and dislike for what is being shown on-screen. Not wanting to accept mediocrity, wanting more for the show than what is being displayed and the like apparently isn't "in" at the moment. <_<

Ya know, I'm the first to admit that I've been a half empty type person when it comes to GH but for good reason. I've been the campaigning whore for my favorite characters/actors/couples - I've been there done that - and what did it get me? Not a damn thing. I've bee Miss Susie Sunshine regarding this show, trying to motivate fanbases to get off their asses to support their favorites and what did it get me? Not a damn thing. I'm tired of fighting the uphill battle with the current regime and I don't see it changing any time soon. I've been drinking the Kool-Aid far too long and I've finally just stopped drinking.

If fans want the mediocre storytelling that Guza and Company is dishing out, then so be it. But there are long time fans of this show that have seen better and KNOW GH can be better, maybe not what it used to be, but definitely better if the current regime was ousted. But I digress.

I've been watching this mediocre drivel far too long and I've seen this show in it's heyday - I know what this show used to be and what it could be again if only someone would take notice to the tanking ratings and oust the people who destroyed the show I love! And yes I still love GH and what it used to be - I am a fan of most every actor on this show and will support them as a daytime actor, but I WILL NOT support a show that is determined to mistreat and underuse the amazingly talented cast it has.

Sweeps is coming to an end and so is my viewing of GH - yet again. When Guza and company exit left, I'll return to watching the show I love. Until then, I'll be tuning out.

i couldnt agree more.

however, obviously, i am loving GH right now. and im not ashamed to admit it. however, the show has been far better, but i also feel its been far worse - give me 2 weeks. then ill be hating GH again. me and gh have a tight love/hate relationship - the show does pretty much suck, however, it is giving me the Liason i have been waiting 8 years for, i love Kate Howard, and Lulu, Maxie, & The gang is my fave teen set in a long time. so part of me loves it and part of me hates it.

i dont wish it ill in ratings tho. because in this day in age i dont belive low ratings will get a writer change - i think low ratings will have an affect in all of daytime and the shows will just be axed.

God I was crying during the scenes between Emily and Elizabeth....such a great friendship between these two. Its just heartbreaking....

And Emily asked her to be her Maid of Honor...well automatically you know thats not gonna happen.

Stupid Nikolas...I hope he and Sam just jump off a roof together. The two worst characters on the show right now.

That gurgling sound Emily made was just nasty....plus the shriek of "Nikolas!" was just dreadful. The hand lying htere next to the mask...just awful.

GH gets major points for this. The drama aspect was well done for me.

Am I the only one who was just glad that we finally saw who was killed? I wasn't that sad that it was Em or that they're killing off Q's or anything. It seems that members of long-running core families are the best ones to kill off (for dramatic reasons). If anyone killed Nadine, some people might just breathe a sigh of relief that it wasn't a member of a core family. But that death would mean less to most characters on the show. I guess it has to do with the ripple effect-- how many characters' lives were toched by this deceased person and how much drama they can get out of that death-- as opposed to just bumping off a character because it's sweeps.

I really like Sam (not sure why). But I really wish she would get over her hate for Liz and focus on herself and Lucky. Her little comments to Liz yesterday seemed pretty pointless. She needs to start with damage control--since once Lucky finds out about her deeds, she may not look so good to him. On the other hand, him being kinda ball-less right now, he might not kick her to the curb, since she was able to do something he wasn't-- stick to Liz.

TC is a good actor (odd how he seems to make a conscious effort to keep his eyes up in some scenes) but all that yelling was a little much-- it made the scene not feel as urgent, somehow.

AZ is a joke to me. He's so corny that I keep thinking that he couldn't kill anyone. I think in the end, it'll be a way to play who-dun-it with each victim. Was it Nik or AZ? Big surprise.

I really hate they're killing off a core member of the show (another Q!), but this really is amazing hard-stopping stuff that GH has been putting out for the last month. I'm the first one who completely disagrees with killing off Em, but I love everything else: Jason/Liz, the truth finally coming out so they can be together...Sonny/Kate, when Sonny told Kate he loved her, in front of Carly! Lulu/Johnny/Logan stuff..Luke and his health, even Zacharra hasn't been a disappointment. He's one of the best villains GH has had in a long time. And he's not predictable like Manny was.

Sam is the only thing that needs to go. She's officially useless.

I was reading through the posts and I can basically see something in everyone's opinions. Many moons ago I had the tendency to just hone in and hold tight to whatever I thought of something and I would be "open minded" with a closed mind. I think I thought that honestly entertaining some other pov meant automatic betrayal or dismissal of my own.

The fact of the matter is that whether it be because a couple we rooted for is together or getting together or a character or characters we like are being prominently featured or some other thing we wanted is taking place, when some of us are feeling happy about the show we might find it a letdown that the next two or three don't like what we like. But the differing opinions are what makes things interesting and people may disagree with a lot of what I babble on about but maybe they can also respect that we don't all think alike.

I get people wanting the ratings to go down in hopes that it will lead to positive changes as much as I get people afraid a decline will get us closer to seeing the end of soaps. Both positions are valid. The flipside is that the writing changes that come out of a decline in ratings might not be more positive though because the change we want doesn't always come out the way we want it. It is more likely that a change may take place whether positive or negative but the ratings will not rebound. The fact of the matter is that the ratings decline between .1 to .2 points each year and in some cases even more than that. Soaps are not "growing" audiences and even though the potential exists, it's probably unlikely that any radical change will take place to prompt any noticeable increase.

We can all come up with dozens of ideas for improvement but all of those ideas are based on the assumption that what works for us will work for the viewers on whole. Just by looking at some of the things people have to say on various boards, I can't see where the majority of online viewers can be satisfied since what might make one group of people happy would be directly at odds with another group of people's wants.

Way back when, watching soaps was a lot less stressful because we basically bought the stories that were being sold to us without giving them a whole lot of thought. Viewers got caught up. We might sometimes love the bad guy not because it was the writer's intent for us to love him or her. but because that person was portrayed by an actor that managed to make us take notice. Nowadays we struggle with resisting the stories the writers are telling because we don't want to like who they want us to like because we think it reeks of manipulation. Sometimes it almost sounds as if people are taking this great stand by refusing to like whoever the writers want us to like just to prove that we're not prone to manipulation. It's virtually impossible for a writer to detach himself/herself from characters in such a manner that causes a person not to be able to see the love for one character over another. It's human nature to nurture what you love best. And it takes an awful lot of energy to put up a fight when we could just turn off the tv and forget about it.

We've gotten to a place in society where it's kind of harder for some of us to act without justification for it. There's no such thing as liking a character just because we do (whether the character is good or bad). If we like a bad guy then we have to either bestow great virtues on that character or point out the similar flaws in a good character. We can't embrace any kind of moral decadence without that presenting some kind of crisis and some of us are probably conflicted by the fact that we watch soaps in the first place because it's frowned upon. This is probably why there is such a push by viewers to fix them because for some of us, we feel it will ensure their survival and thus continue to be around for us, and for others, we feel the need to make it a more "respectable" form of entertainment. If soaps seem more intelligent then we can admit to watching them to those of our friends who look at us as if we grew a third eye if we mention a soap.

I look at the ratings but I don't need them to go up or down. I've watched soaps on and off for the greater part of my life and I expect them to vanish within my lifetime. I don't have the need to hold on. I will continue watching as long as they are on and I'm interested. I will probably continue my on and off pattern until they go. I will probably always continue to see GH as my favorite soap and I know it will always be my most favorite soap of all time. I know it's not what it used to be but neither am I. I'm not sure anymore that what was good to me back then would seem good to me now. I was more naive and innocent and willing to be in awe over a lot of things that I would probably consider really stupid today. I'm glad for what they were then and I'm okay with what they are now. It's amazing that they've made it this long and it's terribly difficult to draw enough people in to any show these days so they've accomplished quite a bit. My appreciation of them doesn't mean I won't pick on the writing because it's fun to do.
