Okay, I've been waiting for days for someone to ask this...so I will.

1. When Blair Redford was fired, I didn't miss him. I'm one of the few who actually liked Kimberlin's last return, but Redford was a real weak link. He had no emotional range whatsoever. I mean, it worked to imbue him with a certain cluelessness (so Sheila could use him as a pawn in her many machinations), but the man had little reaction.

This came clearest in the denouement of the story...Lauren assumed dead...and he just kept on with this Ronn Moss-style stoicism.

He wasn't that much to look at either.

If you go to the soaphunks image page, and click on Y&R, and scroll down to Blair Redford, you'll see two shirtless collages of screencaps. He's not bad--I won't ever pass up those pecs--but he was kind of pale and ordinary. He didn't even "pop" as well on screen as did his two scene partners that day (Michael Graziadei and Greg Rikaart).

2. Now, I know emotional range has never really defined the Miguel character...neither Jesse Metcalfe nor Adrian Bellani were top-form thespians. I think Metcalfe has grown on Desperate Housewives (within the limits of what he has been given to do), but Miguel always WAS a kind of clueless block of wood...so I think Redford could work for that.

BUT AESTHETICALLY, how can Redford live up????

Go to the soaphunks site, and click on the Passions link, and then peruse Metcalfe and ESPECIALLY Bellani.

My GOD, these men are truly the epitome of physical perfection. Swarthy, defined to the max, bulging musculature. And, both are now allowing their natural furriness to flourish, and this has just made them utter icons of male beauty. They both also have really beautiful faces and eyes.

Redford, IMO, is just so much more ordinary. He won't cause nearly the same buzz.

Am I way off base here?

And I mean absolutely NO ONE!!!! Bellani brought on the "purdy" like no other, and even outshined original Miguel played by Jesse Metcalfe, IMO. I think this was also largely due to Adrian's version of the character being more manly and macho than Jesse's version, who seemed girly and effeminate. This Blair Redford person seems all wrong for the part (he is so not hot!) and he's already gotten a chilly reception from most people on the NBC Passions message boards.
