September 9, 200718 yr Member I know alot of CBS soaps fans have really been in an uproar about there shows the last few years. The complaints and negativity have never been stronger. Why aren't changes being made? I am surprised no one from CBS D has been fired over these major loses. I do predict soon, the heads are going to roll at CBS D. What person in there right mind frame let the numbers continue to fall and not do anything about it?
September 9, 200718 yr Member What person in there right mind frame let the numbers continue to fall and not do anything about it? Ask the execs at NBC & ABC. CBS is just following their lead.
September 9, 200718 yr Author Member LOL , but I'm saying, NBC and ABC made exec changes. Why hasn't CBS done it yet. I don't understand it. I really can't belive nothing is being done about ATWT esp. Is this the first time that CBS having these major losses for all it shows at the same time? Ask the execs at NBC & ABC. CBS is just following their lead. Edited September 9, 200718 yr by aMLCproduction
September 9, 200718 yr Member Take a lot at these numbers... August 27-31, 2007 (Compared to Last Year/Compared to Same Week 2003) Total Viewers 1. Y&R 5,316,000 (-447,000) (-537,000) 2. B&B 3,615,000 (-666,000) (-664,000) 3. GH 3,326,000 (+250,000) (-588,000) 4. OLTL 3,142,000 (+131,000) (-212,000) 5. AMC 2,875,000 (-111,000) (-617,000) 6. ATWT 2,635,000 (-805,000) (-1,246,000) 7. DAYS 2,539,000 (-818,000) (-1,195,000) <2004 #> 8. GL 2,467,000 (-476,000) (-977,000) 9. PSNS 1,667,000 (-162,000) (-695,000) <2004 #> One word: Shocking! In just 4 years, CBS Daytime reached the gutter of the ratings barrel. Does anyone know what Bloom, VP of CBS-D, has been smoking since replacing Lucy Johnson? If LML can get 600,000 more viewers, then her job is very much secure. CBS keeps a hands-off approach when dealing with B&B. Why is that? Love him or hate him, Sheffer attracted viewers to the aging warhorse. Weston butchered GL so badly that many are never returning. Who would be great for CBS-D in terms of writers & executives? Get those who've left daytime to return--especially males. Imagine if DOOL had no male viewers. Daytime "Pariahs": Linda Gottlieb, Felicia Minei Behr, Laurence Caso, Jim Houghton, Trent Jones, Nancy Curlee, Lorraine Broderick, Pamela Long, Bridget & Jerome Dobson.
September 9, 200718 yr Member I honestly don't know what it is. DAYS, AMC, and OLTL all have had changes while ATWT, GL, and Y&R keep the same people who are driving it in the ground. It's a shame. Maybe Bloom is simply blinded by all the love CBS got from the Emmys.

I decided to copy your post and add emphasis to one particular soap. Maybe the CBS people can read...so I enlarged it!!
September 9, 200718 yr Author Member WOW I can really see that ATWT loss is now greater that Days!! Thanks soapsuds, it drives your point home. OLTL has the smallest loss Edited September 9, 200718 yr by aMLCproduction
September 9, 200718 yr Member LOL , but I'm saying, NBC and ABC made exec changes. And their ratings are still in the toilet. Why hasn't CBS done it yet. Because CBS is utilizing loyal fans goodwill for Bill Bell's legacy to push their own agenda(s). I really can't belive nothing is being done about ATWT esp. ATWT is to CBS what OLTL is to ABC. It's not CBS Daytime's flagship (Y&R), doesn't have tons of critical international success & acclaim (B& or the distinction of being one of the longest running television shows of all time (GL). Between that & the increasingly bleak state of Daytime as a whole, ATWT is currently enduring rough times. Is this the first time that CBS having these major losses for all it shows at the same time? Mhm. Things have been rough for CBS Daytime in the past, but the industry in general was still successful enough in to balance things. ..Now? Not so much.
September 9, 200718 yr Member And their ratings are still in the toilet. True...however, the ratings for the ABC soaps have been somewhat steady, whereas those for the CBS soaps have been slowly spiraling downward.
September 9, 200718 yr Author Member Very true. I would say ABC is the most solid right now, in terms of not having major losses, OLTL is up some what, GH has been doing ok this year.
September 9, 200718 yr Member Very true. I would say ABC is the most solid right now, in terms of not having major losses, OLTL is up some what, GH has been doing ok this year. IA...and if I were in charge of ABC Daytime right now, I would be the most worried about AMC. It seems to be in the process of becoming ABC's red headed stepchild.
September 9, 200718 yr Author Member It seems that way. OLTL has been beating AMC i think every week for the past 3 or four weeks now. That is a feat for OLTL. But back to the subject at hand I wonder why p&G didn't snatch up any of the ousted Y&R stars Kay Alden would have been ideal for ATWT and Smith on GL. B&B needs a new headwriter desperately but I still enjoy it, I couldn't imagine who I would want to take over for Bell IA...and if I were in charge of ABC Daytime right now, I would be the most worried about AMC. It seems to be in the process of becoming ABC's red headed stepchild.
September 9, 200718 yr Member Looking at the list ALL soaps have declined. Yeah CBS has had some fall more than other soaps but its not like they're in some special category. Basically fans of all soaps have been complaining. Some changes have been made yet nothing significant has occured with those changes. Days fans got Hogan...still hasn't made any real impact. AMC I believe just changed their writers. Yet they're still at the same level as they have been for the past few months. Plus all this negativity seems to just be online and I don't think the majority of fans who are enjoying the show week after week feel the need to come on the internet just to speak their mind.
September 9, 200718 yr Member Soaps go up and they drop, it's a never ending process, and AMC will go back up eventually and eventually OLTL will drop, as will GH. I didn't know CBS soaps had dropped that much. ATWT is in major trouble IMO
September 9, 200718 yr Member Y&R is CBSD's flagship show and is currently bleeding to death. Sure its loss isn't as great as Days and ATWT, but Y&R is the cornerstone of CBSD's entire dramatic serial lineup. When it's in the process of declining, so is the rest of the lineup, regardless of overall quality. You might find Y&R "entertaining" amL, but to the almost 500,000 viewers Y&R's loss from a year ago, they obviously think differently. The show isn't recognizable anymore, it's not the Y&R I knew and grew up with. Y&R used to be the only soap where you could find character-driven storylines, all I see now is rushed plot-driven trite. Until Y&R stabilizes in quality, the ratings for the show will continue to decline, thus the rest of CBSD's lineup will as well. How I wish those rumors of Wendy Riche replacing LML as EP were true, at least we know the show would be in capable hands then. CBSD needs a complete behind the scenes overhaul, from top to bottom! Until things change, the whole network will continue to suffer.
