Well, Kei really shut that Austrian crowd up. Such depth on his shots. A tough matchup for Thiem as he needs time to set up his huge shots while Kei takes so much time away.

It's about matchups, I think.  Thiem's game feeds almost directly to Kei's strengths.  So much so that it almost looked like Kei could anticipate where Thiem's shots were headed.  Also, Kei looked really confident out there today.

He did indeed.

Meanwhile, Kevin Anderson is going to be fresh as a daisy for his next match. He got a W/O from Melzer and Coric just retired.

Gawd can they get the Grandpa Roger match over with? Want to see the next match. Roger is playing like [!@#$%^&*].

Roger is now saying he had been injured since Wimbledon....lawd......just stop!

Roger is playing a la Jimmy Connors 1991 US Open......barely beating players that suck but losing to higher ranked players than those that suck.......

Umm....I wonder who you were for? Posted this seconds after the match was over.....lawd.......LOL

And I thought the Austrian crowd was fine. It was a Davis Cup atmosphere but they didn't boo Kei. Thiem won a point and the crowd was loud as they should be....and Kei wins a point a few applause but later it went to none......no applause for Kei....again I've seen much worse at the other tournaments.

I have nothing against Dominic. I like him. Kei’s simply one of my favorite players alongside Nole, so I usually root for him against anybody. It’s always tough competing against a player with home advantage, so I respected his mental fortitude, especially since Kei can lose concentration (like losing three straight games before closing out the first set).

Medvedev will not lose to Tsitsipas. There is definitely a rivalry here. I knew the match would go 3 sets again. Medvedev sure looked happy...too happy after the win and Tsitsipas looked pissed and offered a tame handshake.....Tsitsipas is going to have to go on full beast mode from now when facing Medvedev because there is hate between the two no matter how well the families get along....LOL
