Members Faulkner
I agree. But it also speaks to how poorly the rest of the field has played day-in and day-out. At almost every event recently, the seeds have been slaughtered. Only three are left in Wuhan. Maybe Kerber was the last No. 1 who really felt like “the best player in the world” over more than a few weeks. Or maybe we have to go as far back as Serena. But since then we’ve had Muguruza, Pliskova, Wozniacki (again), all of whom have underperformed or stumbled under the weight of expectations.
Members DramatistDreamer
Maybe the press should be asking these players about their mediocre performances than about Carlos Ramos and Serena. I guess there are no quick answers to the first issue. These women are primarily still in their twenties, yet their results are akin to players at the end of their careers. Someone should really be asking them about this. Are they unable to perform with expectations?
Members Faulkner
I totally agree! The priorities are all wrong in the tennis media, but they’ll continue to dine out on Serena because she’s the only name on the WTA who’ll get clicks at the moment. At the same time, any of those above players can pull a Wawrinka and totally redline out of the blue and win a big tournament. It’s just... weird. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen someone other than Serena play consistently at the highest level like Vika did back in 2012–13.

Members Faulkner
Annnnnnd Monica Puig has beaten Wozniacki for the second time this year. Not a single top 10 player left in Wuhan with Kvitova and Kerber out as well. It’s late in the season so a lot of the top players are beaten up, but it’s the trend. With Muguruza falling to Siniakova, Ash Barty (16) is the only remaining seed, period. Edited September 26, 2018 by Faulkner

Members I Am A Swede
Marcelo Ríos with a big interview for 'La Tercera'. "Federer acts like a woman on court, doesn't even spit". That's not acting like a woman, Marcelo! That's called having manners!
Members Soapsuds
The Sock comment isn't new...everyone knows he is a clown except for the tennis media at ESPN and Tennis Channel. His career has become a joke and now the tennis media is pimping his stellar doubles career. They have nothing else left to pimp considering he will soon be out of the top 100 in rankings. He lost to Verdasco of all people. Many are saying Andy is done and that he should retire. I think Andy knows it too but is still trying one last time to recapture something.
