Members DramatistDreamer
Some interesting results in Wuhan earlier. Konta is on a serious losing streak.
Members ChitHappens
Has she made a serious run since winning 2017 Miami?
Members DramatistDreamer
That's a good question. I will admit that I really don't keep up with her results but I can't remember her going past the round of 16 this season.

Members Faulkner
Well, she dumped Wim Fissette, who has gotten Kerber’s career back on track (an Aussie SF and a Wimbledon title). Not entirely sure what happened there. It was said Fissette wanted more money to continue coaching her.
Members ChitHappens
Once your charge starts winning tournies and making more money, those fees are bound to increase come contract renewal. Seriously! How many folks can afford a Patrick M? More than likely, Serena was paying him a retainer while out and not many could afford a man who coaches the Queen and has 10 Slams with her!
Members DramatistDreamer
Also, it just seems like many players have caught onto her game and exactly how to beat her. Someone mentioned that she doesn't seem to have a Plan B when she's not in a peak position-- this is looking like a fair assessment of her game, more and more.

Members DramatistDreamer
Is Simona Halep still #1 or nah?
Members ChitHappens
Yep. Garcia, last year's Wuhan winner, is out. So she may drop.
Members Faulkner
Halep has a crazy lead in the rankings currently, around 2500 above Wozniacki. It’s hard to single her out for being inconsistent, looking at how the rest of the top 10 have performed this year.
Members DramatistDreamer
Back when being #1 only got a passing glance, I'd have agreed but things have changed. For better or worse, any #1 will be scrutinized more than the rest. It's this way for every player. There is a special weight and responsibility to being the #1 player, or else there wouldn't be those presentation ceremonies to mark the milestone. The weight of expectations are greater.
