Emily's worthless ass is only here because Luza wants to bring the entire audience over to the Liason Dark Side. What better way to do that than to have all the characters mention them at least 5 times a day. Luza won't be writing a story for her, and I hope Natalia knows this. Luza does not have enough faith in Liason so he has each and every character propping them - that is until Jason finds himself another great love (who does he think he is - ERICA FREAKING KANE!). By this time 2009 (possibly sooner because Liason is stinking up the screen), Liz will be scraping Jason's shoe print off her face...

Jason and Amelia (another disciple) will be the two longing for one another...

Sam's the one who makes me sick. How evil, to set up danger in front of Liz and her children, just so her and Jason can't be together? I can't wait for that thing to leave town. I hope Jason and Lucky never forgive her for that.

Jason and Liz..wow..how heartbreaking..These two rock. I can't wait for today's kiss.

Sam's the one who makes me sick. How evil, to set up danger in front of Liz and her children, just so her and Jason can't be together?

Jason and Liz..wow..how heartbreaking..These two rock. I can't wait for today's kiss.

It wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. The Liz fans were making it seem that the men Sam hired would pistol whip Liz and beat her in front of her children while her kids watched. It wasn't like that at all. I don't even think that the guns were loaded and more over I don't believe the actors Sam hired would have hurt Elizabeth or her children. It was all a staged act and the children were in no danger at all. Sam didn't hire thugs she hired actors to act like thugs to scare Liz and show her life with Jason isn't all rose petals and fruit juice.

I definetely expected more then what was shown from the outcry of Liz fans. The men didn't seem threatening at all and I very much doubt that Liz or her kids were in any danger at all. The truth is that if Liz really chooses Jason her life is going to be like that and it's a very real possibility that her and her children will be in danger and that it's a real possibility that one of her children may die in the cross fires of soulless Jason's mob career.

The thing about Jiz is that they could have been sweet. If Liz wasn't lying to Lucky and if Liz wasn't tarnished and destroyed. They had a potential to be sweet and endearing. They have a sweet chemistry unfortunately that has been destroyed because of Liz's lies and Liz's character destruction. Jason too doesn't come out looking to good either. He looks cold, heartless and soulless. He looks like an unfeeling prick for getting over Sam so quickly. Jason is a void. He doesn't seem to have any emotion at all and he seems fickle. That takes away from his "romance" with Elizabeth.

OMFG!

Do I really have to sit down and watch Sonny and Kate talk for 20 minutes about her denting a police car? Is Guza serious with this? This storyline is ridiculous. It is not that big of a deal that she accidentally dented a police car and I have a hard time buying that she would go to jail for that. Whatever :rolleyes:

Guiding Light Discussion Thread

This sums up one of the reasons I began to lose interest in the show at this time. Nick was such a sanctimonious ass and was always in the right, while Alan-Michael was always in the wrong. And they just put Alan-Michael into an ill-defined weasel/hapless role for years, which worked less and less. They were at a complete loss with him by 1994.

I love everything you said. I had similar thoughts about the foreshadowing, too. I think you're 100% right.
Someone mentioned the specificity of detail with the lighting throughout the entire episode, that yellow hue representing the sunrise and beginning of a new day. That just magnified my love for this episode. The attention to detail is so on point.
While I completely understood why Vernon lied to Anita about the test results coming in, I think it's not going to go over well when Anita finds out and you know she will.

You were brave to watch episodes past Annie Dutton parachuting off the plane.
Of the final 15 years I watched MZ last episode, and clip sets of Annie Dutton psycho turn (witness stand breakdown, overdose, exit storyline).
If you go back, these are my recommendations:
1979 and 1980 episodes featuring Roger/Holly storylines, as those set in motion everything we saw a decade later in the Robert Calhoun era. I've accepted we'll never see any episodes prior to 1979.
May 1989-August 1992, the last great era. You could start with December 1988 as that will give some background. Must watch is Robert Calhoun era, June 1989 to July 1991.
September 1992-January 1993 was all right.
February 1993-March 1994 was a chore to get through. The bright spot was MZ Emmy-winning episodes.

In regards to Kat/Eva.. a secret to good feud is allowing both sides to cool off and not engage with one another.. or else it becomes either too stale or too over the top (I.e. Jill/Katherine on Y & R). Right now, Kat is dealing with family issues while Eva is trying to start over with a new guy that's single.
If the plan was to make Derek a psycho/bad guy... than the writers were so off base. There have been hints about him being obsessive over Ashley going all the way back to episode 1 where his whole existence seemed to revolve around her. He also had the head injury, also used Shanice to make Ashley jealous, held off telling Ashley he was getting feeling his legs, basically blackmailed Shanice into not telling Ashley about his progress, threw shade at Jacob about being honest with Naomi, and then after he was found out and hanging out with Jacob.. he said he still believed he could get Ashley back. Lastly, his NYE awkwardness was him still trying to determine if he should make a move on her, but was doing the boy scout thing.
Maybe they just dropped Derek when season 2 started, but the way he was acting wasn't the way someone with closure would act.
Time will tell.

Just to fangurl for a moment---there were two women who didn't seem to age at all from the '80's to '00, and it was Maeve and Colleen Zenk. I'm so glad neither woman ruined their faces---and now actresses are doing it younger and younger.
A-M was cutting his Spaulding teeth, as it were, when he battled Vanessa for the Presidency of Spaulding. No, blackmailing Nadine wasn't the worst thing done in the name of trying to get that power, but it was a weasel-y thing to do, as Nadine had been his mother-in-law. It was even more weasel-y that he was blatantly stringing Blake along to help him, and that he was stabbing Vanessa in the back while she was at trial.
(Nadine had earned that comeuppance, as she'd skated on betraying Billy more than once, but I digress. And it's still nearly a year before she gets nailed to the wall.)

He's dead on the show. She was just saying her instinct was to call him in this situation, which was impossible. She was drawing a comparison between her situation and Luke when he was under mobster Frank Smith's thumb and not in control of his own life (the night Luke raped Laura, he had been ordered to put a hit on someone and wanted to commit suicide... I'm sure someone knows the history better than me).
I actually wonder if this scene was somehow added in last minute after Geary died, otherwise it's quite the coincidence.

I thought it was really nice that Laura acknowledged Luke today, but did I hear her correctly that she contemplated calling Luke to help her? Or did she just say she wishes she could have? Because Luke died right? Based on the GH page I use to educate me on all the characters and relationships, Luke died in 2017.
