Who do you want to replace Jean Passanante as HW of ATWT?

I said this in the ratings thread, so I'll post it here.

Can you imagine if Jean goes and ATWT goes further down the tubes ratings-wise? A year ago when Hogan was hired at Days, a lot of people here predicted that Days would be the #2 soap by Christmas 2006. Of course that never happened and Days lost a lot of its core audience and has yet to full recover.

If the audience has gotten too used to Jean's craptastic writing, a new writing regime with a fresh outlook might alienated more viewers. Audience behavior is quite erratic these days, it would be sad.

I don't know many writers that have a history with ATWT to choose someone from within, so I would have to pick someone outside of ATWT. I really do think that Sally Sussman Morrina could be good for Oakdale. I liked her storylines on DAYS, and she had some pretty good stories when she wasn't forced to go the SciFi route by Corday. She could tell those family storylines that included the entire cast and I think that would be good for ATWT.

And here was my response.:P

Alvin, I dont think things could get any worse with ATWT right now. A change is needed. If I know my ATWT fans they will return with a capable new HW at the helm.

It would be good if P&G could get Nancy Curlee to return to soap writing. They've wanted her back for years, but she wasn't ready to return. She'd be perfect for the job.

Broderick was a good HW at ATWT, despite what Ron says. :P

She had a huge mess to clean up in 98 and she did just fine. Had she inherited the show in a better condition she would've proven just how better she was. She's definitely 10 steps ahead of Jean and Leah.

Where is Wisner Washman btw? He hasn't written for any soap since he was apart if the Curlee/Demorest/Reilly/Broderick team in the early 90's. His work on AMC in the 80's was superb. I think he would be perfect for either ATWT or Y&R. He definetely needs to return to soap writing.

I would be up for that. That would be great!!

You know I love ya Alvin ;) but if Broderick is brought back would you stop complaining and actually watch and post.:P

How old is he now? Does he even write anymore? I thought he was a real good writer.

Yes, I know Clint. But Nuke is one of the only good things about ATWT going on right now. If we the fans write in and give positive feedback to the story it might be left alone. I know there is always a chance it could go. But something must be done. The ratings are tanking more and more. The bleeding needs to stop. I love Nuke....thats one reason I still watch ATWT.

I totally agree with you Alvin. And I bet he is expensive too. I havent liked his view of the show for a long time. Bring in someone who will bring back the history of the show. Instead of englufing us with so much Gwen.

    • It is amazing how everyone in GC just swaps partners and is instantly in love and their previous relationship never happened. All while everyone’s exes live in the same town and go to the exact same 4 places as each other.
    • No to Andre/Ashley. I'm not sensing any connection. Kat is playing a dangerous game going against Silk Press Sheila.
    • Today was definite a good episode day with surprising 1:1 scenes between Bill/Silk Press Sheila & SPS/Kat.  And the final long scene between SPS/Kat with the close ups and cliffhanger reminds me so much of old school P & G/Bell soaps. It fits since Judy Tate (script writer) wrote for P & G soaps for years and Zimmerman (breakdown writer) worked on both Bell soaps. I even liked the Ashley/Derek scenes only because it feels as if there is a point to the scenes (lead up to a break up perhaps).  Andre/Ashley having a scene tells me that the show is still testing them out.. and I think showing the growing disconnect between Derek/Ashley will eventually lead to the two possibly dating. NuTed.. he seems more humble and less boastful/confident than the previous Ted.  Perhaps the show felt the previous Ted couldn't play remorse/humble.. and they made the switch.  Time will tell. Lastly... it was a Dani free day

    • Goulet also had an odd way of speaking - very clipped and brisk, like she had just gotten out of a '40s film. She sounded out of breath. She had this on all her soaps. She was a better actress than Tolan and did well enough with Mary's grief over her marriage in her final week or two in the part but had no real spark.  I agree they may have found a better Mary if they had tried harder. For some reason the recasting for the Ryan kids was never what it should have been. I don't know what was going on with Barbie Siobhan. Maybe that was ABC.
    • The finale peaked at 31.1 rating when Katherine hit Bobby with her car.
    • Exactly. And it's not like Stephanie didn't live a life when Hennig played her.  There are so many stories and relationships you can mine from her past.  And we just got......a book and sex with Alex or the random Bobby backstory which no one needed  I trust new writing can get the character back on track.  Like I said, I do think Abigail Klein has charisma.
    • Today (Thurs May 15) eppy not on paramount *menu* but it's on cbs.com. If you take the cbs episode URL and substituted paramountplus for cbs in the same URL, you get the episode on pplus https://www.cbs.com/shows/video/Huj7bAYV8H6T038u9cXam3bk6QXNkM2Y/ https://www.paramountplus.com/shows/video/Huj7bAYV8H6T038u9cXam3bk6QXNkM2Y/
    • Really good episode today. Even the characters who usually annoy me, like Chase and Brook Lynn, got some sweet scenes. I also appreciate that they're finally giving Lucky more to do, letting him in on Ric & Ava's blackmail scheme. And those Liz and Lucas scenes were fantastic;  Van Hansis has been bringing such playfulness to the role of Lucas, he brings out the best in scene partners like Laura Wright and Becky Herbst. It was also nice to get Liz's perspective on why her romantic rapprochment with Lucky is moving so slow; it makes perfect sense that she thinks he's not really capable of settling down, even if he wants to be with her.
    • I thought Keith did great as well. His scene with Colby was what sold me. He displayed the emotions that a man who knows he's made a mistake and wants to rectify should have. Its funny how Maurice has been given passes in his acting that other actors have not. What Keith has shown me is that he can atleast keep up with the ladies in his story instead of them acting circles around him when Maurice was playing the role.
