GH: Jax's Rape

I don’t like female-to-male rape storylines either because more times than not, it seems like a total farce and is hard to take seriously. As politically incorrect as this will sound, in general, I basically see it more as sexual coercion than knock down, drag out rape.

As a man, I couldn’t become physically aroused by someone who I’m not attracted to…especially when they're supposedly “forcing” sex upon me. It just wouldn’t happen. I’d be as limp as toilet paper.

Rape is torture. Someone becoming physically aroused during such torment simply doesn’t mesh.

I dont think its the same as Sami. From what I read, Ethan didnt threaten to kill her or Lucas. He just wouldnt help save Lucas. And she wasnt physically attacked, or restrained down with handcuffs like Jax was. This is a shot of Irina and Jax after she raped him. Theres nothing ambigious about it

Rape has nothing to do with sexual arousal, or not. It has to do with abusive assertion of power. Whether Jax was aroused by Lil' Miss Mangled English or not, he said NO! She didn't have his consent. Just like a woman could be sexually attracted to a man, but when things get a little too deep for her and she says NO and he continues regardless, it's rape.

Sexual arousal does not equal consent.

Yeah, the scenes are quite revolting, but Jax looks good. Are they purposefully dressing him extra sexy? She must have had clothes there for him to wear. He looks like a swashbuckler on the cover of a romance novel, ala Errol Flynn.

I suppose if she had him beat to a pulp within an inch of his life we could accept that more easily.

Nope, but it does equal the likelihood that this "rapist" did what we're to believe she did. GH will have to bull back those sheets and show me to prove it. There's being felt up and groped without consent, and then there's RAPE. I just have to know how many of the people responding are men or women.

Rape does not always involve physically being overpowered. Besides look at the pic from above. Irina had Jax gagged and handcuffed to the bed while she had her way with him. She already threatened to kill him during her toture of him. Jax had very little choice here

    • Yeah, not sure why Jack and Jen didn’t rush to Marlena - or even Carrie - to offer their condolences. A few flashbacks would've been a nice touch too. Instead, we got a whole episode of them talking about Chad and Abby? Come on. On the bright side, I loved Anna’s scenes with Marlena and Carrie - sweet and heartfelt, felt like a real 80s throwback.
    • Martin and Smitty were designed to avoid the stereotype of gay men sleeping around (which to an extent is true). If you recall Martin had a line about them not being open when Chelsea came to talk to him. The producers are walking a very fine line right now and it might not be popular to say but I can understand it. Establishing enough footing to ward off complaints will let them showcase gay characters more openly later.
    • The week was decent. They have started to rotate their stories and finally got a rhythm going. I disagree about them allowing every character to have a moment to shine though. Nicole really hasn't been given anything to do. I completely agree with all this. I adore Doug and hope he makes it through.

    • There was the one appearance in '96, but otherwise, that's correct as far as I know.

Question for the B&B group: I see @rsclassicfanforever has uploaded multiple seasons from Videoland  (in the folders that are to be put away). They are huge folders and difficult to download so I started breaking them down into months but I realized they are by season so for example, Season 4 spans from March 1990 to March 1991. Now I'm wondering where to actually place them, since we have the Full Episodes section divided by year, not seasons. And most of these seasons we already have in full, so these are duplicates. Not sure if it's necessary to keep the older versions. I could just make another new section for Seasons, so the main folders would be "Behind the Scenes and Interviews," "Clips," "Full Episodes," "Full Seasons," "Music CDs," and "photo archive Marquise" but I'm not sure that really makes sense. Also wondering since we have almost every full episode now if "Clips" can be deleted in its entirety, as it's nearly 300GB.
    • CBS moving Murder, She Wrote from Sunday to Thursday was straight up sabotage. Les Moonves knew exactly what he was doing.
    • I sure hope you’re right. The lack of sets is maddening!
