I haven't taken any offense to you at all Kenny. Your still my future husband ;)

I just found the whole rape excuses to be in poor taste, and some comments making light of the situation. I probably shouldn't even have posted considering how my day has been, and the fact that I can't let go. Guess it was my day to play the martyr?

Andre, Sorry for grouping you in that category as I cannot possibly know how others would feel, just how I do. I hope no offense was taken?

Whether it was rape or not, the fact that the whole situation has been so glossed over by other characters is the worst part of this story.

You would think Marlena would be horrified either way, especially considering her past similar situations with Stefano at Maison Blanche to save John and then again in Paris in order to be free from her golden cage. Roman and John, her fathers, should be pissed either way. And Lucas should be conflicted, either way.

What is the point of doing something so drastic if we don't get to see the reactions to it?

Please don't compare them to Luke and Laura, Luke was actually redeemed after he raped Laura, EJ has gotten to the point where he's completely unredeemable.

Luke actually felt remorse what he did to Laura, EJ hasn't felt any remorse or anything for raping Sami, IMO he feels he was justified.

AGREED. I think Lucas has been more emotional about how he feels about it, the others have not. I missed some of the show yesterday and some of it last week so I was under the presumption that what E.J. did was revealed to everyone and thus explained their reactions, or lack thereof today at the Pub. But it turns out the writers overlooked that. Everyone seems to have a different opinion and although I believe it was indeed rape, I think we can all at least agree that that some of the fallout and character reactions to this could have been better.

AMC Zendall Fan made a valid statement.

There was no purpose in bringing up another actor or character from AMC that you hate.

Let's not turn this into a James Scott vs Thorsten Kaye thread.

Thank you.

Thank you Toups :)

Great post!

Yeah I remember reading OLTL wanted to pair up Todd and Marty and RH and SH fought against it, which I'm glad of, that would just been beyond wrong on so many levels.

I'm not the biggest Luke and Laura fan, but at least the rape is being dealt with and is STILL having repercussions and fall out(Lucky finding out, Lulu finding out, etc...)

I'm not really going to talk about Todd because I've always felt that Roger Howarth was totally overrated, but I disagree with the comparison to Roger Thorpe. The GL writers toyed with the Roger/Holly relationship for years, but make no mistake, they never brushed the rape under the rug NOR did they make Roger and Holly a "romantic" couple. IMO, the appeal to Roger and Holly was that they WEREN'T a supercouple like everyone else. The rape was an ever-present hurtle for the couple, despite Roger's emphatic appologies. The key factor was also time. It took Roger and Holly a long time to be even remotely intimate. The couple had sex for the first time since the rape in 1993, 14 years (over 20 in soap time!) after the rape in 1979! Even then, Holly and Roger hardly got together.

Back to the ORIGINAL discussion...

TVG: After EJ raped Sami, were you worried about your future on the soap? And why isn’t Days playing out the fallout of the rape?

James Scott: I would be lying if I said I didn’t worry about my future on the soap. I don’t think they handled the rape very well, and I’ll tell you why. EJ raped Sami, and then afterwards, he’s hanging out in her house — alone with her. It’s irresponsible on so many levels. However, had it been handled well, I think it would have been an interesting story choice. Now the story focus has shifted to her pregnancy and the classic soap story of paternity. Having said that, I chose to believe that EJ is in love with Samantha — he just can’t communicate it.

    • Pleeeease I hope the writers have thought of this.
    • I want to see her doing brunch at the country club, flirting with the personal trainers and taking FULL advantage of all the perks while it lasts
    • It's on Prime too and Pluto TV. It's also available digitally.   The Blu-ray release has the movies that haven't been seen in HD, and they've corrected the premiere two-hour movie as it originally aired. The DVD and digital release use the syndicated split two episodes.   My maternal grandmother was a big fan of the show. I had no idea until later in its run.
    • Omg I didn’t even think about that she’d be beyond the gates doing his therapy! How exciting!
    • I assumed that Reva viewed Cain as someone she owed her life to since he was the one that helped save her during her attempted suicide.. so she felt responsible when he became ill. I imagine that Long would have used Cain as an obstacle/distraction for Reva as Kyle was working through his marriage to Maeve.  What interested me was that Fletcher/Maeve were tested earlier then I thought with his constant visiting Maeve in the hospital in December 1985... so possibly Long had it planned out that Fletcher would have been the right man for Maeve while Reva was the right woman for Kyle. Both Kyle and Maeve came from money... so I could see Long planning to ultimately pair them with opposites in a socioeconomical sense of the word had she stayed on. I certainly know had she been headwriting the show when Newman came back as Josh.. she wouldn't have quickly reunited Josh/Reva.
    • I could see where Kyle was intriguing for a hot minute, given that he was a millionaire with a secret grudge against the Lewises. But the entire premise for his grudge is stupid, and Reva's insta attraction to him doesn't fly.  I do think Reva needed to be separated from the Lewises, but she always comes off as a little lost without them, imo. I'm surprised they tied Kyle to them so rapidly. They could've drawn that story out for the entire two years Larkin was there.
    • If all true and this is the right leading lady, it may make sense why Kim didn't mention her by name, since Courtney passed away in Dec 2010, just under a year before the book came out in 2011. That would be the respectful thing to do, and it's not like Kim was shy about name dropping others in the book. All speculation though haha.
    • MSW streams on Peacock (for members), Tubi (for free), is on DVD, and is rerun on cable.... and I know a lot of young millennials/older Gen Z's that have recently been exposed to Murder She Wrote... and they love it. It's timeless.
    • Another example of the dysfunctional enmeshment that the Duprees labor under.   Dani freaking out about her father coming to visit as she's in bed with her boy toy totally screamed teenager instead of a grown ass woman that has two adult children.  The whole family needs to be in therapy including Nicole (who probably became a therapist because of the dysfunction within the family). @ranger1rgConsidering the fact that Chelsea has been controlled by a domineering Dani... I would be more surprised if Chelsea wasn't being extra and/or pushy.  She's spent more time being a model, having every move controlled by Dani, and being on social media as opposed to developing interpersonal relationships with her peers.
    • I agree. Every time she's on, it reads as "We're writing her in to fulfill her guarantee."
