DirecTV PSNS: Original Castmember Staying

The show has gotten better recently but things are still unresolved. No show should make fans wait 9 years for resolutions to stories that they have stuck with since the beginning. It's insane. Not to mention the amount of violence and abuse the show inflicted on female character the past two years. Sure, it has stopped recently but for how long? This is a show marketed towards teens and the women's 18-24 demographic and the show showcased rape, drugs, prostitution, etc. The biggest offense was the raping. It's ok to have stories about these issues but what they did was overkill and they didn't even take it seriously. It was played as a joke. The problem with Passions the past two years is so much of what they hype turns out to be nothing like the porn story with Luis/Fancy last year and Vendetta last year. Sure, the latter half of Vendetta was good but the reveal of the monk stunk. We all had Alistair from day one. Surprise us.

I will give the show credit for salvaging the stalker plot and getting away from all the rape. I also like Paloma/Noah and the Chad/Vincent story is good. Ethan/Theresa/Gwen has finally had some movement so that is good. However, it's too little too late for most Passions fans who already bolted after years of no resolution and disappointment. Anyone who expects fans to come back this summer will not like what they see. Passions has been cancelled essentially. Very few people are going to watch it. There are already letters in SOD from people upset that they can't see it. It also cheats fans out of an ending. Passions fans know the show and they know any shot of getting a decent ending and resolution to stories went out the window the minute DIRECTV got Passions. I know I feel cheated too because the show is improving and if it keeps up, I won't get to see it. It sucks and, realisitically, it can't work. The opitmistic side of me really hopes it works but it's hard for me to buy it.

I have a feeling alot of actors are going to bolt like Silvana. They probably know this move may not last and the chances are slim it will be a long-term thing so why prolong it? They need to find jobs sooner or later so some of them will probably just do that now instead of sticking around and worrying about going off the air all over again. Ben has nothing to worry about. He would just reture and Juliet has no worries either. The rest have lots to worry about so they have to think about their families and their livelihood. Part of me hopes Lindsey Hartley and Emily Harper bolt because they and several others are too good for the show (especially those two) but part of me hopes they stay because I feel without Lindsey and some of the others, the show stands no chance (especially without Lindsey).

PSNS as I (and everyone else who liked it when it was good) knew it was over like three years ago.

And now, the PSNS as we know it now is pretty much over, as well.

I can't wait to see the mess it becomes once it goes to DTV!!

What a HORRIBLE attitude in that last line!

And I'm sorry, but Friday was SO proof that "Passions" can still be as good as 'we knew it' three years ago. Everything was cookin'.

But some people are going to ignore the clear turnaround in the show's direction and STAY pessimists...aren't they?

Since 2004, we have had some awesome stuff:

The Luis/Sheridan/Antonio triangle ended

Antonio DIED!

We learned the truth about Martin

We learned the truth about Katherine

We learned the truth about Rachel

We learned the truth about Sheridan's nightmares

Eve's past was exposed

TC dumped Eve, and Eve reunited with Julian

TC's toolshed secret was revealed

Eve turned out to be the one who injured TC

We finally met Paloma, Noah, and Fancy

Chad and Whitney turned out to be brother and sister

Chad turned out to be the Crane son

Chad and Whitney reunited when it turned out they weren't siblings

Theresa learned little Ethan was really Ethan's son

Gwen confirmed Theresa's suspicions that she outted Ethan to the tabloid

Julian and Rebecca divorced

Ivy was exposed for breaking up Sam and Grace

Beth was exposed as having kidnapped Marty from Sheridan

Alistair's reasons for hating Sheridan were expanded upon

You tell 'em, Ri! Not to mention all the comedic moments and shocking one-liners and 'little moments' you almost NEVER see on another soaps. The truth is, even when the show sucks, there's something to hook ya!

The ONLY thing that would intrigue me about PASSIONS on DIRECTV is if Lindsay Hartley didn't renew her contract, they kill off Theresa and Ethan and Gwen reunite. That would ALMOST make the move to DIRECTV worth it. Gwen needs to get what she wants for a chance without "Theresa" getting in her way. But knowing Reilly, Gwen will never be endgame to any storyline.

I'm glad Ben Masters is staying with the show. He's talented and seems to liek PASSIONS.

:o OMG!! And I can tell from your post that you're not even kidding!! "Passions" was FOUNDED on the love of Ethan and Theresa, since even before it aired, with the "He hasn't met me yet" promos -- it was clear that ET were ALWAYS endgame, baby!

I would agree, however, that if LH didn't renew her contract, I will NOT accept a replacement, nor do I think most fans will. LH is like DH (let "Days" fans laugh at that if they want to, lol; she's made the roll her OWN.) So, if she leaves the show, kill off Theresa. It is the ONLY way. And you're right, it would make for an incredible twist.

And Liza Huber is entertaining and has really come into her own since the show began. She can make it.

LOL. I think Sam and Grace are so boring. But then again, everything with Grace is boring. Part of it being Dana Sparks and her stiff, one-note performances. The character of Grace demanded a fierce, lively soap vet that could play all the layers. For the get-go I thought Grace should have been a role for Alice Barrett.

At least Ivy has spark and personality!

But hey, you watch everyday and would know more than I would. I admire your crazy PASSIONS fan status.

Sam and Grace ARE boring -- but it's that sweet, even though they suck they're clearly meant to be together kind of boring. :)

Totally disagree with you here. ;)

Oops...back to not agreeing with you.

Sam and Grace are meant to be together. Grace is a good woman, whereas Ivy is pure evil. A hunky man like Sam belongs with a pure-hearted woman like Grace, his soulmate, not a cruel, malicious skank like Ivy.

Passions died a few years ago IMO but even if I watched now, I wouldn't switch to DIRECTV for Passions. With that said, I hope some of the remaining actors choose to move on so I might possibly see them in other things.

She didn't say anything wrong, IMO. What's wrong with hoping that some of the better Passions actors leave so that he/she can get a chance to see them flex their skills in new roles?

Because it's disrespectful of the fans of the show. The fans are living in the positive, whereas the haters are living in the negative. Therefore, everyone should cater to the fans and respect their opinions more because they/we love the show and want it to succeed. The opinions of the Passions haters are not as valid as the opinions of fans.

That's what I meant by 'boring but sweet.' The thing I LOVED about "Passions," in the beginning, was the the Gram relationship was SO REALISTIC!! How many times do we see the hunky, gay pornstar-looking husband with a ripped body that almost seems like it was made for NOTHING but [!@#$%^&*], [!@#$%^&*] and MORE [!@#$%^&*], WITH THE frumpy, bland but sweet woman? How many times do we wonder "How did SHE snag him?!" That's what I always loved about Gram. They work so well together because, aesthetically, and personality-wise, and, in theory, they just DON'T work so well together.

ITA! Gram was the most realistic couple, and they were also the most like my parents (except I would be Charity, not Kay or Jessica or Noah or the dead baby that Ivy killed or John or Ethan).

Because it's disrespectful of the fans of the show. The fans are living in the positive, whereas the haters are living in the negative.

But to some, the idea of the actors moving along to other (perhaps better) roles IS a positive. It's not like everyone's saying, "Yes! Let 'em all get unemployed!"

I think you're just being overly sensitive.
