Dance With Ryan

Wow he just now finally has to show to about 3 million people who watch this show that in one category, which is ballroom dancing, he happens to not be an expert! Well who would have thunk? I mean Ryan can do everything else from running corporations into the ground to peeing in a vertical line and bring someone out of a psychosis state where she thinks cheeseburgers do not have cheese and are healthier than yellow apples (again psychosis) oh and what other talents does he have oh yea just pretending to be a superhero and saving the entire world from the demented Carf who will unleash a bunch of fart machines on the people to make them go batty and smell unpleasant smells longer than a romp in the hay between Barbara Walters and John Stossel exercising their tonsils! But golly Ryan is a quick learner at dancing and shocked that he needed help on this after all saints should know everything but I guess not with Super Ryan on the way. Well I wonder what he will need help with next...like how to tie his shoes to make Dynamite Kiddo loops or ride a horse upside down while seeing pink elephants spraying urine on horny zebras. But back to the dancing...and well he was really trying to come off as a pro! Next thing you know he can teach others how to waltz and also teach them the Dynamite Kiddo trot which is stepping on feet and having them lose toes and easier to play This Little Piggy. That Dynamite Kiddo trot is done by inserting your foot into your rectum to make milk!

My high-school crush on Tad has officially ended today. He was so far out of line badgering Adam & Amanda this week. It's bad enough that Tad conveniently forgot how he helped keep Little A from JR, but now he needs his lunkhead's son help putting on a jacket? He's gotten completely clueless!

Jamie needs to go into a nice long coma and STFU.

I still don't feel sorry for Krystal, even with Bianca now propping her up. Bye Binks, come back under a better headwriter with your brains intact next time and don't ever mention Zoe again! Maybe Bianca can reunite with either Maggie or Lena in Paris.

I hated the flashbacks with NuGreenlee. The actress was okay so far, but they could have chosen better scenes to redo. I really hated Erica urging her to fight (I can't recall what that was about but I fear she was fighting for Ryan) and Jack accepting her as his daughter. I just hope she's not being written as a misunderstood heroine instead of the feisty vixen she used to be before McT wrecked her.

The actress who plays Annie is a great dancer. I was hoping the instructor would pull Ryan into his arms to show him a few moves. Ryan can't have less chemistry with him than he does with Annie and the first Greenlee. :P

That's McTavish's trademark. She made Ryan lurk in shadows for weeks, she made Julia lurk around Wildwind for weeks... even back in the day, she mad Tad lurk for weeks, as well as making Del lurk for weeks.

Hopefully, they just used her lurking at the goodbye party as a way to get all the people "Greenlee" is connected to in one room, so they could set up the flashbacks. It would be hard to establish Greenlee's relationship to all those characters via flashbacks if they were nowhere to be found. She'd just be randomly remembering certain things.

BTW, Ambyr and Chrishelle obviously take notes when they act opposite vet actors like Kate, David and Bobbie. Jacob and Justin obviously think they're doing just fine without any help. WRONG A DONG-DONG-DONG!

I can't believe how good AMC has been over the last month. I just watched a whole bunch of episodes in a row because I've been way behind for a good month. The show just rocks right now.

I've really come to love Colby. She has improved so much. I think as soon as they stopped the Paris/Nicole thing the character started to improve. I like her scenes with both Adam and KWAK. Plus I think it's sweet the way she calls Jenny "our baby". The writing has just improved so much. I can't get over it.

Word to the last part. Justin has never really impressed me - but I've even been questioning Jacob's acting this year too - he's come across as way too one-note and doesn't put much effort into it IMO. Ambyr and Chrishelle are best against the vets.

And I think you are right about Greenlee's lurking - and how they needed to get everyone she's connected to in a room to make newer viewers who don't really know Greenlee to get acquainted with her and her family. It made sense for me - now I just hope she comes out - which I think she will. She won't be like Dixie who lurked for months, even though it'd make more sense for Greenlee's character to lurk that long over Dixie's (which didn't make as much sense).

Yeah, I wasn't feeling the faux flashbacks. I have to wait for the Greenlee story to fully begin, but so far, I'm BOOOOOOO! on the Greenlee recast. MCE would've been a better fit. Not only does she resemble Becky, she also has a tendency to deliver her lines with the same cadence Becky did.

    • In case it is of interest to anyone here, I have digital copies (computer files, mp4 etc.) of all of the episodes. And, besides having the files they are all up on my usual video hosting site, acct name: shallotpeel, channel it is in: Primetime Soaps and file names like  Flamingo Road S1E15 Hurricane Flamingo Road was a primetime soap on NBC by Lorimar Productions. 2 seasons. 1980-1982. Morgan Fairchild, Barbara Rush. Developed by Rita Lakin.
    • Arguably DAYS OF OUR LIVES has been brilliant lately & definitely was last week. But, here I am with nitpick & technicalities. This was the only misstep but it was just a stupid thing that should have been caught. Deidre Hall as Marlena has this one problematic line, "It didn't matter how many identities you had, I always knew exactly who you were, you were the man who saved my life." - Marlena, DAYS, 6-2-25 Unfortunately the flashback closest to it was when Marlena was on the phone, terrified because she thought he was Stefano. Yes, it's true that the line is not accurate. There were many times when she did not feel the way she is claiming because of whatever was going on in story with his 'retconned to hell & back' identity & origin story. Does it keep the whole week from being called excellent? Nope.

    • I decided this primetime soap deserved it's own thread as the Primetime soaps thread is very cluttered and why shouldn't NBC's Lorimar soap mot have a chance to shine? In doing a deeper dive into the second season ratings I was surprised to see that FR actually had an uptick in the ratings when NBC moved it to 9pm Tuesdays beginning March 82. I'd always assumed this move was a desperate one as NBC were running short of programming and had given up on the show, deciding to let the final episodes play out and be hammered by 3's Company  and CBS Movie. But the numbers paint a different story. In it's 10pm slot up against Hart to Hart, which regularly finished in the Top 20, FL premiered in 53rd place and placed in the 40's and 50's as the season continued. But come January 82 the numbers surged a little now moving into the 40's hitting #43 in Feb. Hart to Hart was #11 Then in March Bret Maverick was moved to 8pm with FR @9. First week 16th March FR #47 15.1/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Not great but #2 in it's timeslot March 23 FR #44 15.6/25 3's Company #4 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #33 So even with a stronger movie on CBS FR's numbers went up. March 30 FR #31 16.6/26 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #56 Best rating/position yet Tues April 6 pre empted Tues April 14 FR #36 16.0/26 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #11 CBS Movie #59 Maintaining previous week's numbers Tues April 21 FR #33 15.6/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Numbers down a little (reflecting general spring downturn) but best ranking of the season so far Tues April 28 FR #35 15.1/23 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #6 CBS Movie #42 Tues May 4 FR #27 15.2/24 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #4 CBS Movie #41 Season finale and highest position of the season. Looking at those numbers I wonder why NBC cancelled the show? They had very few hits and here was a show that was holding it's own and moving up in the rankings in a tougher timeslot. And being a serial, the storylines could continue to build the following season. And I'm sure the desirable W18-49 demo was good. Some might argue that CBS were shower weaker movies, but even so, soap viewers are pretty loyal. I guess Grant Tinker arrived at NBC and wanted a classier look but there was room for FR on the schedule. I mean, the following season Knight Rider,Powers of Matthew Star and the A Team arrived so there was still room for more populist fare. Flamingo could have stayed at 9pm-the replacement Gavilan bombed (surely FR would have done better} or moved back to 10pm. The following Jan NBC had a hit with A Team Tues 8pm. Had Flamingo followed it, it might have really taken off. As it was they tried Bare Essence, which flopped. Oh well,it was not to be...
    • Always, in every way, Cass/Wally/Felicia foundational to my viewing. And, I think if we look at the aftermath of the disastrous 90 minute show that we find too many pockets of some kind of lost time at the show plus way too much of change-ups in exec & writing leadership and of course we also reach the first time it becomes notable that NBC wants to get rid of the show so they can put a new soap they own in the timeslot.

    • And this came out as the "feud" and the media pushing the protests in Los Angeles got all the media attention. They know the press and the public will not care or can be manipulated into approving.
