Members Dr. Chip
From what the actors have said, Frances Reid is the exact opposite of Alice Horton. She's a real spitfire and loves four-letter words. And they all love her dearly! I know I'm always talking about youtube, but I was watching some old clips this past week and miss the days when Alice used to walk into a room and take control over the situation. She was such a powerful force back then. Just think, there would be no supercouples without Alice's intervention -- especially in the case of Bo and Hope! Deidre Hall said in an interview that the hardest thing she ever had to do was prepare for Marlena's "murdering" Alice. She didn't want to do it, and Frances told her to do it and to give it her all. Dee said that when she saw Frances coming down the hall of the studio that morning, presumably for the last time, using her walker, Dee just lost it. ... Later, when Corday was ready to announce the "new cast" of DAYS and have the former cast members surprise the cast members who were left, Matt Ashford, I think it was, said Frances said to them, "Let's not go out there when he calls us. What's he gonna do, fire us?" Love her.
Members Mason
For some reason, I keep replaying the final scene between Missy and Frances in my head. This is so sad, I'm starting to tear up.
Members DaysFanJean
I started watching Days again in Aug. 2004 because I was astounded that Alice was still on the show and just had to see her before she left. She is really Days and it will be hard to think of her as gone on the show. I don't know if I can bear watching a funeral for her though because she is a year younger than my own mother and to feel so strongly about Alice and thinking of my own frail mother is more than I want to deal with. I'll love her forever and think she was one amazing person.
Members bellcurve
Alice Horton is such an integral part of DAYS. And the Horton house is just so awesome. Hopefully, that set won't leave when Frances Reid or Alice does. I just don't even wanna think about it.
Members Mason
It's like the show's heart is leaving with Frances/Alice. She really is/was the core of DAYS, and the show will never be the same without her. God bless you, Frances.
Members KBT
I am really saddened by this news! For me personally I knew in my head she was 90, but I just had this surreal feeling that somehow Alice would ALWAYS be on my screen. DAYS better handle this appropriately or I may quit DAYS altogether, thats how much I adore Francis. DAYS can't afford to screw this up! Francis will definitely be in my prayers. I am just glad I taped J&J's last show last September, FR last show besides the Christmas episode. Whenever DAYS deals with Alice and her funeral I will be watching by myself with a box of kleenex. Members David_Vickers
So, so sad. I love Frances Reid and Alice Horton. She is DAYS OF OUR LIVES. I will definitely miss Alice Horton. I wish Frances Reid love, support, and hope she's not suffering too much. She's one of daytime's classiest ladies and I've admired her spunk, her honest and her talent. When the inevitable happens, I sure hope DAYS will bring back a lot of our old faves to pay tribue to her including John Clarke(Mickey), Maree Cheatham(Marie), Lisa Trusel(Melissa), Edward Mallory(Bill), Jaime Lyn Bauer(Laura), Melissa Reeves(Jennifer), Matthew Ashford(Jack), Michael T. Weiss or Roark Critchlow(Mike) and maybe Arleen Sorkin(Calliope), Patsy Pease(Kimberly), Jed Allan(Don), Gregg Marx(David) & Charles Shaughnessy(Shane). Members tylerbo20
yeah right this is such sad sad news, but if they killed her off now, i could see them ruiing the show by having Max, Abby,Chelse, Willow, Phillip, Shawn, Belle, Nick, Kayla and Steve at the funeral and the person they bring back for the funeral.uhh Chloe and Brady. Members KLN
This is beyond heartbreaking. Alice Horton is the heart and soul of Days -- the show is losing its moral center, its compass. Farewell, Alice Horton! They better do a tribute episode once she's gone...
Members Ponz
They'll probably perform a duet at the funeral.
Members xDaysAddict
that's sad to hear. I hope that when the time will come for an alice farewell, they will do it with dignety and bring back characters from alice's past, like mickey(what are they going to say? "mickey is working,he couldnt come"?) and of course Jennifer played by Missy reeves.I always loved the Jennifer/Alice scenes, they always had something special that I didnt saw in scenes other horton's had with alice. Members KMan101
Missy hands down would return for it. If not, then Corday likely didn't ask her. No way will I deal with a sudden Jennifer recast for the funeral. And lol, no way Chloe/Brady return. I know you all are joking but Lowder's clearly on B&B and Bjorlin has a "movie career" now.
