LOL - that is interesting. See, its the internet. No one back then knew or cared bc they didn't have the internet.

Just another reason to blame the internet on spawning overly-critical soap fans who drive ratings down with their noncommittal ways...

I don't really have an issue with the age issues that seem to be taking up the entire topic of the show today. I mean they are actors, its all professional.

I had issues with Jonathan/Lily mainly due to the character histories and how wrong it was.

Ava is so much fun! Its nice to see Leven play bad and the complete opposite of Lily. She is going to be so interesting to watch and yes Lily's character could have been developed more.... but I think its going to be interesting to see how the two interract and when it all comes down to it, for me, if this story gives the ubber talented Leven Rambin more work, well that trumps every other issue. AMC needs to use Leven as much as they can because I am a firm believer that this girl is going places and come contract renewal time, I do not think she will stay. Kudos to AMC for giving Leven this storyline.

Other comments on today's episode, I really enjoyed Adam and Krystal one on one today. You can tell deep down Adam is so torn up over this and uses the rage/revenge as a cover.... but that's Adam Chandler. They are staying true to his character that is for sure! Something that was not happening when Krystal has his nuts in a mason jar on the top shelf in the pantry. Josh as his son is the perfect revenge and I love how Babe was all up in his face. I really have started to enjoy the writing for Babe again. I think its because she is not the centre of attention. Which is a good thing.

Amanda and Adam are fun to see. Even if its blackmail, as Alex said, who would have thought Adam and Amanda would have a story together.

But burning down Tad's house, Tad and Dixie's house. Argh!!! Rub it in! We get it, Tad and Dixie are finished but dammit! This hurts a bit. :(

You make good points. I don't really have the problem with it either; I was just pointing out in my post above that it wasn't in issue at all in the '90s because I didn't have the internet and knew nothing about the behind-the-scenes stuff. You’re right – it’s all professional. It’s not like they have her doing a striptease for dirty old men. Lily with Jonathan was just lame. The fact that he tried to kill her and was a woman beater made it disgusting. Who would be with someone romantically that tried to kill them? Brain tumor or not, it made Lily look dumb.

My comment about Leven is just an observation about young girls in today’s world. They’re going up too fast!

OH MY GOD. AMC today is so shocking!!!

Before I knew Leven's real age -- 16, right -- I wouldn't have been MORTIFIED by the Ava/Aiden scenes. But now, knowing her real age, I feel sort of dirty watching this GIRL, not woman, kiss a GROWN MAN so passionately! I know that the law is against them only if they have sex, but still, it seems a little TOO much like pedophilia!

In other news, what's up with Josh?! I'm only 10 minutes in the show but I can't believe he's going along with this. What in God's name is wrong with the world?!!

Yes I agree Pine Charles. There is definately a loss of "innocence" so to speak alot earlier these days in young girls. I mean I work in retail and see tonnes of people every day and when I see like 10-12 year old girls dressed questionably and loaded up with make up I am like.... ok something is wrong is with this picture. But its the day and age we live in I guess.

I don't agree with it. But I mean Leven is 16-17 and again its all acting. Dual roles win emmy's.... LOL if Leven doesn't snag it this year, hopefully for sure next year!

I think Leven earns an Emmy squarely for her compelling, realistic portrayal of a young girl with autism.

I DON'T want to see Leven win her Emmy by selling her soul to the devil (that would be playing the slutty whore Ava, as an underage woman KISSING A GROWN MAN!!)

It's just too unspeakable.

Wow, I disagree about the Leven sentiment. I find these scenes VERY disturbing, considering Leven is underage and she's kissing a GROWN MAN. (How many times can I say that -- and get grossed out?)

Anyway, I doubt you'll get your wish for Lily/Ava scenes -- remember they're played by the same person. Not gonna happen. :)

    • In the current environment, while it's small, there is a crumb of good news: Apparently, San Antonio voted for a DEMOCRATIC mayor, Gina Ortiz, beating the "right-hand man" of Gov. Greg Abbott, former Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5337199-gina-ortiz-jones-wins-san-antonio/
    • Love this! You are both adorable. Wow
    • I have not gone back to watch much of 1987, but from what I've seen lately, it doesn't feel like the writers or producers had any sort of plan. The show feels as if it's constantly in flux.  I will give it credit for this. It's watchable for the most part minus Lisa/Jamie which I find nearly unwatchable now.   I don't find Cheryl mousy. I think she has a lot of quiet strength, but she was saddled with the Scott romance which the writers did not invest in. She had a good friendship with Julie (also criminally underused), and her interactions with Ada were enjoyable as well. I also like Layman, but Spencer was extremely talented and when Cass returns, Schnetzer and Spencer have some wonderful scenes. Spencer also fits in with Alexander, Hogan, and Marie.  I'd forgotten just how much I missed seeing Wallingford. IT was so good to see him again. Even when they didn't have a major plot, Felicia/Cass/Wallingford/Mitch always brings a smile to my face.
    •   Dani’s cute ass party planner. He gave me some tea but I was so drunk I don’t remember it.
    • NBC must have been grateful to have LHOTP, it's only hit and still strong after several seasons. Their next established show was Rockford Files at 45th. They didn't develop any comedies and relied on movies and mini series  which didnt establish viewer loyalty and habits. Their only new hit was mid season's Project UFO which debuted Feb up against Rhoda/On Our Own on CBS and How the West Was Won on ABC. It opened with a strong 36 share beating CBS and close to ABC as HTWWW had a 36 share over 3 hours. The next week UFO saw a respectable 32 share, then a 31 so it was slipping. A 28 share followed but a few weeks later it jumped back up to a 34. So no blockbuster but compared to what else they had, there was potential, So next season NBC sent it to Thursday up against Mork and The Waltons and it bombed.  They were smart to see potential in Chips, which took off on Saturdaysnext season. ABC was on a roll with Love Boat, 3's Company, Taxi, Eight is Enough adding to their hits. Their only real flops were Redd Foxx and San Pedro Beach Bums, an Aaron Spelling misfire. Like Redd Foxx, Harvey Korman was lured to ABC but his series was a filler that did well but was considered a time slot hit. Nancy Walker and Rob Reiner were also given series on the philosophy that not only were they popular names, their absence from popular shows like Sanford, Rhoda and All in the Family might weaken those shows. CBS were relying on old favorites. Betty White was strong the first few weeks then faded. Incredible Hulk was their strongest newbie. It was lucky for CBS that NBC was doing so badly or else some of their weaker shows would have really suffered.
    • That outfit looks like something Martin would wear lol.
    • Omg not we both ran into people from the show this weekend!
    • I guess he was let out the gates, because he's outside.
    • Yup.  You can hate John all you want, but like seriously he was the cornerstone of the show for years.  So he should get a long ass funeral and burial and all the things because Drake and John deserve that.
