Ok, so how exactly are they getting bent out of shape. It wasn't a J&M fan that posted about it here, now was it? And I've seen you post quite a bit about it. You and the S&K fans were laughing your @sses off on one of the payla boards about it all night the other night, bashing the J&M fans and D&D. Seems you guys are the ones bent out of shape and got so much to say about it all. :P:blink: Heck one of you guys made a video making fun of it and bashing Deidre Hall.:blink:

I wasn't laughing at "J&M fans." Just the Vocal Minority, the few over-the-top people who have, in my opinion, lost all perspective. It's a freakin' TV show. Yes, in light of CONSTANT, IMO childish, complaints from the Vocal Minority that "Payla steals everything from J&M," I find the whole comforter thing hilarious. And yes, I would find it hilarious if it had happened the other way around.

I guess it's just that the majority of us around here are soap fans.

Yes, we have our favorites. But in general, we're fans of the shows... not just one or two couples.

so are you like the spokesperson for this board?

We understand that soap operas are an ensemble effort, and we appreciate the artform that the soap opera is. We don't want a soap opera to revolve around only one couple -- even if it's our favorite. We also understand that on a good soap opera, there's a rotation between frontburner and backburner status. On a good soap opera, no lead character is ever on frontburner or backburner status forever. Because of that, we also understand that -- from time to time -- our favorites are going to take a backseat. Its a soap opera. And although there's nothing wrong with certain viewers only watching for one or two characters, it tends to annoy the rest of us who are soap fans (not just 'couples' fans) when certain people expect the show to just be "the J&M show" or "the Bope show." They act like their couple is the be-all/end-all of the show, and the truth is... that's just not the case. Soaps are an ensemble effort, and that's that.

In your opinion of course. Don't tell the payla fans that. They only came back to Days becuz payla returned, and I'm sure they will leave again when payla do.

If John and Marlena are still on the backburner with no story... say... 2/3 months from now, I'll be more understanding of the anger. I'll be angry myself. However, as of now, they're just on the backburner and that's that. On a soap opera, it happens.

I guess being off most of the summer and barely on since they returned from that unasked for vacation wasn't a problem for you then.

Meanwhile, does it annoy anyone else whenever Days hires a new actor/actress and everyone automatically begins wondering who they should be paired with? Why are you completely useless on this show unless you're part of a couple? Can't you just be an interesting character, solo and single?

I agree with that point. I have watched soaps my whole life and I've often been a fan of just single characters and dont' care if they are paired with anyone.

Don't waste your time. Don't waste your money. I've always thought that campaigns were stupid, silly ideas. You send something in to the show, it's now their property to do with as they want. Just imagine where all the candies go that you send in -- probably right to the garbage. With terrorists and whatnot, sprinkling yummy goodies with anthrax and such, it's understandable.

Don't campaign. It's a waste of time, effort and money.

It probably doesn't work ALL time, but some times you get something cool. Case.in.point.

They have been doing nothing since May 2006...almost literally NOTHING

So payla fans weren't childish over the top and losing all perspective when Billie was horning in on Steve? GMAB, ok? Payla fans just can't deal with anyone that doesn't cherish the allmighty payla. God forbid a J&M fan says they don't like payla and all hell comes down on them and they're labeled -just the way you just labeled them.

I've been here since day one, and I post regularly (which means I don't come out of the woodwork only when I can conveniently throw the weight of my posse around, ahem). Having posted here since 2001, I think I tend to know my fellow soap fans and posters here. And mind you, I said 'vast majority,' not all. :)

Not true. Hate 'em all you want. Have I said anything to try to talk you out of your Payla hate? Knock yourself out. But I'm bowing out of the conversation.

I disagree with that completely.

As for last summer's absence, that was before Hogan, so I can't really 'blame' him. They weren't really gone for that long though, were they? It was originally supposed to be for 2+ months, but as soon as the new team came onboard, they brought 'em back early. Or am I remembering incorrectly? Anyway, that was pre-Hogan, so he can't be charged with the 'crime.'

John and Marlena got awesome material during the last half of 2006. Awesome, awesome stuff! And I know many J/M fans LOVED it... only a select few were unhappy that there was no 'story,' just scenes. Anyway, yeah, I disagree. I thought the stuff was great.

Actually it is.

Drake, cut your hair! Growing it long will not make you look younger. It just makes you look like you've got something to hide (bald spot? receeding hairline?). The man looks much better with shorter hair (a la summer/1997).

I see both sides of the argument.

From the perspective of J/M fans, Steve and Kayla were gone for fifteen years and suddenly come back, shoving J/M to the backburner and taking their rightful place on the forefront of the show. S/K should take a backseat to the rest who've 'been there through it all.'

From the perspective of the S/K fans, John and Marlena have spent the last fifteen years in frontburner stories and their fans have gotten to see tons of them for years and years. In their minds, after fifteen years of having nothing, it's about time that S/K get the frontburner status that they've been denied for the last decade and a half.

Both sides have valid arguments and points of view.

They've been denied? How so? The actors never once made a guest appearance in all those years and probably didn't want to come back. At least Patsy Pease showed up once in a while.

Kenny, if I'm remembering correctly, we were told J&M would be off canvas for 8 weeks and they were gone for 8 weeks. But it was always my understanding that it all had to do with ending the Alex story and there not being scripts in place for them.

SN and MBE nearly came back twice during the 16 years away but it didn't happen. They always spoke of wanting to come back.
