NBC Secretly Producing New Daytime Entertainment Show

DAYTIME TV TO GET MAGAZINE SHOW

Post staff writer

February 12, 2007 -- NBC is said to be working secretly on a new, daily entertainment magazine show to air around midday, according to reports.

The show, to be called "Fresh Squeezed," will air far away from the traffic jam of the established magazine shows, "Entertainment Tonight," "Access Hollywood," "Extra" and "E! News" at 7 p.m.

" 'Fresh Squeezed' will be a one-hour daily news and entertainment program," the network said.

NBC has an open hour in its daytime schedule after canceling the soap "Passions" last month. "Passions" airs at 2 p.m. in New York on Ch. 4.

The car-wreck death of Anna Nicole Smith last week is a not-so-subtle reminder of how strong the appetite for entertainment news has become on TV.

Ratings for "ET," for instance, are more than 8 million viewers a night on an average week - and up as much as 50 percent on the news of Smith's death.

Let me hitch a ride out on your coattails ... I mean, yay if this helps NBC's daytime ratings or whatever but how is this going to offer anything different from Extra or ET? I'm so tired of these shows as it is.

GAWD, don't even get me started on these shows and channels like E! The worst part is all those *reporters* on these shows actually think that what they are doing is intelligent journalism....i laugh! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy hearing about what may be going on in the entertainment industry but shows like Access and Extra, etc, are nothing but the STAR for tv.....trash mags in real time, ugh, enough already. The masses have such wierd obsessions!

.....steps off his soapbox...... :)

I only get annoyed with INSIDE EDITION and SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. The former because they pretty much say redundant bull$#!t throughout the whole show, the latter because they talk about the same things over and over again.

AJ Hammer needs to be my lover. LOL.

I thought NBC didn't have any extra hours on their daytime schedule and that's why they cancelled "Passions" so they could add a fourth hour to the "Today" show. So where is NBC getting this other hour from? Are they going to cancel "Days" to make room for this new magazine show?

That's exactly what I was wondering!

And I was wondering that THREE, psycho!!!!

I will be LIVID if this is true. Because then it will mean that NBC [!@#$%^&*] LIED about why they canceled "Passions." After all, extending "Today" by one hour would mean it HAD to cancel "Passions" right?

Oh, I am LIVID!!!@#$%#%@$^%%^}

Uhh... if NBC has no more hours to give (after all, that's why Passions was cancelled -- to make room for more 'Today'), how in the hell do they plan on doing this?

Is DAYS being canned this summer, as well? To make room for this entertainment show? Is that why it's all so secretive? Because they plan to break their contract with Corday and can the show anyway?!

OMG! Dear God, is it true?!!!? I am SHOCKED!!!

Okay... possessed by JSF for a second. But really... what the HELL is going on?
