Is Passions being cancelled?

Completely understand HJ, but I can't be a hypocryte. I still love JER pre-2003/2004(depending on the show), and I stand by my love for all of that stuff. Haha. Too bad it's all long gone. :(

I just want the official announcement.

Can totally see NBC announcing this very soon. They won't wait till March to do it. If they think PASSIONS is as good as dead, they won't waste any more money trying to pump into promoting it or otherwise.

Maybe this will light the fire under Reilly's ass to finish EVERYTHING.

I can totally see NBC stop making weekly promos for PASSIONS, as soon as they make it official.

JERk finishing everything, OTOH, I have a feeling that just the opposite is going to happen.

Yeah I think just the opposite will happen too.

I want to see an official announcement to see what is going on and what the replacement will be and so on. The weekly promos will be gone as we get closer to the finale I think. I have the feeling they will announce this very soon because we are getting info on this already so that must mean something is coming.

Then again, it took NBC forever to confirm Hogan this past summer

Doubt it. Unless they want to air infomercials(which would probably do better in the key demos than PASSIONS), they will keep PASSIONS until the summer. They hardly had anytime to find a mid-season replacement before the announcement. And I don't think any new shows premiere over the summer in syndication, either.

The show "I" am most worried about is DAYS. It may sound like I am trying to get the board riled up again, but unless NBC forces affiliates to air DAYS(in its proper timeslot), there is no guarantee they will want to. Especially if there are a slate of new syndicated shows for affiliates to purchase.

If there are a LOT of syndicated options for affiliates to choose from, I can see several not wanting to air DAYS, especially since NBC is no longer mandating them to air PASSIONS.

I just hope I'm wrong, but the writing is on the wall for DAYS when PASSIONS leaves. NBC will either commit 100% to its success or not commit at all. And since NBC doesn't OWN DAYS, I see the latter happening before the formal.

Referring to PASSIONS? Likely not this late in the game, unless they have some more sitcom reruns or something that they can acquire pretty fast. Especially if the word is out that PASSIONS is not being replaced with another soap or another NBC Daytime Property(not syndicated, but network).

Affiliates will let PASSIONS run its course. Not an insider(obviously) just my opinion.

People state that JER ruins characters and seems to hate all of them. Have there been any characters that he's seemed to love and to have written? From what I have read, he tries not to interact with the actors/actresses because he wants to keep the characters and performers as separate as possible. True?

Kenny, that was rather mean! Yes, JER screwed up BIG time but to take glee in his failure would be horrible.

And once again, I will NOT accept this rumored cancellation.

Hear that, NBC?

And if you try, this is no joke, I WILL pray a daily rosary or novena (whichever is shorter and whichever I have time for), praying for a wave of "bad times" for the NBC network. Meaning, low ratings across-the-board, financial loss, the good stuff. B)

So don't mess with my show -- or I'll call my God and He'll know how to deal with "peacocks."

Well, that's one thing we'll agree on.

JER will see more than viewers wanting to throw thier lunchbags at the television if the final week or month of the show (which, hopefully, will come years later than this) didn't wrap everything up.

PSNS/DAYS troubles started when he took over HW duties for both soaps. I knew when it happened that both shows would suffer and they did. JER has a big ego, but he should have never accepted the HW position at DAYS.

The man was writing 10 hours of soap a week with no Co-HW or Assistant HW, I didn't expect Y&R quality writing.

Now that he's gone from DAYS, PSNS has improved 10 fold, and will continue improving if it stays on the air past July.

JER is NOT a bad writer, but he was burnt out from writing 2 soaps and now he's getting his groove back. (Last 3 months are proof of that)

Before he took over both soaps PSNS was averaging a 1.8 - 2.0 and it's almost back up to that. I just fear it's to late :(

    • Yeah. I wasn't feeling it either. If it was meant to be a chem test, it didn't work. I don't think so. Because I think Neil and Liz moved into that house after Stefano "died", and Neil lived there until he went to go see his patients and never came back

    • Canada aired a repeat today Tues. Nov. 18. So after being a day ahead for the past week, they will now be back in sync with U.S.
    • I was really starting to enjoy it, but after Anspach, Shelton and Keane left, it got a bit blah to watch. Jane Russell was great as Rose, Buddy Ebsen as Toat was interesting as well.  If a second season were in the cards, I would have signed  Karen Carlson on to a contract and cast a couple more women as regulars. The cowboy aspect could continue. Sam Elliott, as always, was fantastic,  The camaraderie between Roy and Quisto was really good as well. Cybill... she was sex on a stick and unapologetic.   Poor Robin Wright barely lasted five minutes, though, before being raped and murdered.
    • I love it that we've gone from daylight to dark -- Luna's even returned to work -- but Steffy is still sitting next to shirtless Finn on the sofa.

    • Is the current DiMera mansion the same mansion Stefano moved into around 1983?  I remember that house was out near a lake, and not far from Doug Williams' night club.  In fact, there was a tunnel connecting Doug's Place to the DiMera mansion.  If it supposed to be the same house, I'm fairly sure it is not the same set.  But I'm aware sometimes soap opera sets change without any explanation
    • Amazing work @slick jones I remember watching and enjoying Yellow Rose but losing interest once they went to self contained episodes, Interestingly that's the opposite of what Dallas, KL and FC did. So maybe YR should have been more episodic at first and then go to a fully fledged serial. But really the timeslot was the problem -Sat @10 was not the spot for a serial. And Rounders turned out to be a poor lead in. Maybe 9-11 Tues following A Team would have helped.
    • LOL!!! He looks like he is reacting as if Luna just passed bad gas or something.
    • Doug Marland came on board shortly before Gloria Monty, I believe. Jackie Smith was in charge of ABC daytime at that point. All of the characters in place were not his creations. Alan was created by Irving and Tex Ellman who wrote the hurricane story a few months before and brought in Alan, Scotty, David Hamilton, Dorrie and Lisa/Lana. His first character was  Bobbie in Jan 78. Apart from wrapping up the Lan/Lisa story he pretty much kept all the stories going just adding new elements.
    • She is 29... she's inching closer, and we know how important age is on soaps.
