Is Passions being cancelled?

Aw, what an excellent daytime moment that was! I remember how soap fans on all the "Passions" message boards said they were just waiting for Ethan to unzip. Theresa was SO desperate and she wasn't positioned in the best place for a woman who is desperate and wants a man back -- without nothing in exchange, that is.

You have two other options, then, Phoenix:

1. Add the signature line "Member, ... Brigade," as it appears in mine, to show your support and membership. (This one's required, also it must be in purple bold font as it appears in mine.)

2. (Optional) Add the Brigade's official "Peacocks SUCK!" avatar. :)

Of course, mailing NBC and letting them know of this thread and the Brigade's initiatives to get out the word on boycotting "Today" is another great tactic.

Do what your heart tells you. :)

I think Days could survive on it's own too.

The only problem-NBC won't care how good it is. If they are truly getting out of the soap business, they will can it too.

This thread rocks. Seriously. Best thread since June, hands down.

Seriously, I am trying to have a late night snack and I am nearly choking on my food reading everyone's comments

I also think we can think of some better banners instead of the current save Passions was. Perhaps something telling NBC to can JER or something along with a pro-saving Passions message would be good.

King, why in GOD'S NAME would we do that?! We need to show the net that the "Passions" fanbase (and really, the "Days" fanbase) has strength in numbers. If you cancel our shows, we really WON'T go to NBC for anything. For instance, I can easily drop "30 Rock" and "The Office" from my viewing schedule. Those are the only NBC primetime shows I really watch. I was a diehard "Law and Order: SVU" fan up until the time I heard that NBC (again, the idiots) were considering to cancel that highly rated and critically acclaimed show just for the heck of it, basically. As for "Today," I watch it before going to work but if they tack on another hour to that ALREADY BLOATED show, an experiment that COULD FAIL MISERABLY, at the expense of my baby, "Passions?" I can easily cut ties with the network altogether.

Okay, I'd keep watching "Days of Our Lives," yes, but that would be it. If the most money is in "Today" and in their primetime programming, we should cut 'em off where it really hurts.

    • Thanks! I know the Infinity story takes the heat for the lackluster of 1985, but the Charlotte Wheaton story isn't any better. Other than proving Barbara Garrick has a talent for playing mean spirited kooks. Watching Richard VanVleet is like watching paint dry.
    • They aren't all bio, but I remember DD saying he treats them as if they were. He seems like a good man.
    • I thought that might be it. Thanks.

    • Yeah.  As one of the biggest John and John/Marlena fans here I don't like this exit.  I know the circumstances were difficult and Drake apparently signed off on this.  I think him dying while killing Orpheus was the way to go.  There isn't a scenario I can imagine John not immediately running home to see Marlena before he helps Bo.  It's very difficult to watch his family wait for him and be so excited.   I am positive the aftermath will be great.  I just don't love the exit.
    • Wouldn't the plan have been to pair Denny and Steve for a Steve/Denny/Carrie triangle and try to recreate the Tess/Bill dynamic from their time at Love of Life? Or was it just a short term thing like her role on ATWT? Maybe Toni wasn't interested in contract gigs?
    • Gail was around months before. I think she was added by the Elmans, who introduced Scotty and David Hamillton, Lamont and Katie Corbin and Alan Quartemaine, all characters Marland worked with and developed. The Ellmans were only around for 6 weeks or so but introduced some major characters. Unlike other writers who come in and have mass cast changes, Marland worked with what was there.
    • I am not a big Anna/Duke fan, but that was an awful return.   IB/FH certainly are better together than Anna/Valentin though. I could care less about the tango.  I don't know why some actors are doing multiple performances anyhow lol.  I certainly don't need the Chase variety show hour. IIRC, Jonathon Jackson can sing just as well as JS or Bradford, but I guess Lucky and head nurse Liz aren't cool enough to get an invite.
    • Rebecca Hollen's last airdate seems to fall between July 4th, 1985 and July 15th. Reva tells Trish she's in love with Kyle and leaving HB on July 4th. The Lewises (minus Trish) go to Cross Creek to celebrate Billy's birthday (this year, other years it's in March) to "accept" Kyle as a Lewis the week of the 15th.
