Why? That's what it's called.

Personally, I think it has a certain ... ring to it. :)

Wow.

Even though I want PSSNS cancelled, I do feel bad for the fans. I still miss Loving.

Maybe soaps can leave Daytime period and switch to cable.

I disagree. "Passions" HAD the grounds to be cocky. People keep forgetting that at one time, this WAS the most buzzed about soap AND (denial, denial) the most critically acclaimed. It WAS. These are facts. People don't want to admit it because the show was so different and untraditional, but that's the way it was.

So JER and the show DID have clout. It did have bragging rights.

I will agree, however, that JER let it all go to his head, and the result was laziness, a supersized ego and horrible pacing.

TVGuide and Logan are hardly critical success. Even during that time, fans (including myself, various boards, and the passions newsgroup) watching day-to-day were getting angry, and sick of nothing being resolved. In the end ... they are the people who make or break a show. Not the rantings of a TVGuide writer who's tastes have proved very questionable over the years.

Passions and JER are still cocky, and that's the problem. They think because they've made it year after year without being cancelled that they can just do whatever, and be accountable to no one - especially not it's audience. You'd think getting your ass shamefully booted off Days of Our Lives amidst huge ratings drops would humble a person, and make him wake up to his faults. But no ... he just keeps going on, same [!@#$%^&*] as before. Meanwhile, they are so many talented people with a passion for this genre, even just looking at SON's writers alone, who could do great things and don't get the chance to develop anything. For this reason alone, Passions should be cancelled. Just to see him jobless and broke ... knowing he could have had it turn out so much differently had he gave a damn would be sweet justice!

Entertainment Weekly also named it Best Soap, I think.

Knowing Frons, I'm sure he'd find a way to make room...

Yep. It's called "OLTL CANCELLED"

a Days-AMC-GH lineup would definitely be very strong for ABC.

Do I even need to comment .....

He would also force Corday to give up ownership so that he could have creative control, just like with AMC, OLTL and GH.

And we all know what a disaster that would be.

Corday will not allow it, just like he wouldn't let NBC own any of the proposed spinoffs which led to them not happening. If it were to go to ABC, it'd be on the basis that Corday/Sony still own it.

Sony and Corday might as well let NBC cancel Days instead of letting ABC or CBS picked up. ABC, GL, and ATWT fans are disgruntled as it is. If ABC or CBS picks up Days instead of focusing on the long list of problems their shows already have, they will have a HUGE disaster on their hands especially if AMC, OLTL, ATWT, or GL are sacrificed in any way.

I would certainly hope so, because I truly believe that Days being a family-owned business is the only thing that's kept Days so veteran rich. It's also the only reason why actors and actresses stay as long as they do. Lord knows it's more often than not NOT the material.

No...Passions and Days are the only soaps that should be on NBC. JER has clearly made moves to try to turn Passions around...look at the way he's finally busted Ivy and is on his way to reuniting the classic couples..Julian/Ivy, TC/Eve, Theresa/Ethan, Charity/Miguel, Sam/Grace...

JER has what it takes. He's going to make you all eat crow in 2007. And I cant wait for some of you to choke on a feather. ;)

oh, goodie! So it can be like watching Passions revert completely back to 1999, then we can go through this entire 7 year cycle of crap all over again! w00t!
