2007: The Directors and Writers Thread

Yep, the blackout was so JER, but it worked very well. GL will never again have the writing staff they had from 90-94. I mean having people like Wisner Washman, Trent Jones, Patrick Mulchaey, Michael Conforti, ect all supporting Curlee/Demorest/Reilly/Broderick was nothing but luck and a stroke of genius. Damn, GL was so lucky back then. Even storylines that seemed out of the ordinary could be spun into gold, with a writing staff like that.

I'd even go as far as to say GL was better written that it's sister-soap, ATWT, during this time, even if Marland is a soap writing god.

Yep it pretty much did. Packer and what's his name didn't prove to be such good head writers after Marland died, even if they wrote under him. What doesn't make sense is why we didn't see Broderick take Curlee's place when she left. I think she would have continued the golden age Curlee had started.

Broderick left the show sometime in mid 1993, leaving only Nancy Curlee and Stephen Demorest. Curlee left in April-ish 1994. Demorest stayed on as headwriter, sharing the title with Nancy Williams Watt, Patrick Mulchaey, Millee Taggart and a veritable round robin of writers until Douglas Anderson joined the show in late 1994, early 1995.

1991 - Nancy Curlee:

OK, I'm confused about how GL listed their writers from the 90-94 era, when Curlee/Demorest/Reilly/Broderick were a head-writing team. I stumbled upon a clip from 92, Curlee wasn't credited for this particular episode, but Broderick, Reilly, and Demorest were the first three credited. There's a scene proceeding the credit, with great dialogue btw! That's one thing I've always admired about Broderick in particular, she always infuses great dialogue into her writing.

That is why I posted my screen caps - I wanted to know who wrote the BDW and who the script. But since only Nancy Williams Watt's name stood out, I'd say she only wrote the script.

I believe the last writer is the script writer.

I'm not sure where the BDWs and SWs start. I think the HWs wrote a lot if not all their breakdowns. I could be wrong of course.

But here's my guesses:

1991

Stephen Demorest (HW)

James E. Reilly (HW)

Nancy Curlee (HW)

Nancy Williams Watt (Script Editor)

N. Gail Lawrence (SW)

Michael Conforti (SW)

Bill Elverman (SW)

Pete T. Rich (SW)

Sybil Rosen (SW)

Melissa Salmons (SW)

-------------------------------

1992

James E. Reilly (HW)

Lorraine Broderick (HW)

Stephen Demorest (HW)

Nancy Williams Watt (SE)

Trent Jones (BDW)

Dorothy Purser (BDW)

Michael Conforti (SW)

Bill Elverman (SW)

N. Gail Lawrence (SW)

Pete T. Rich (SW)

Peggy Schibi (SW)

Sally Mandel (SW)

WOW!! What an all star writing team GL had!! Toups I know this is far fetched, or I don't know if I should be asking but do you think Hogan will be shown the door anytime soon, in your personal opinion, or for that matter any one else?

I honestly don't think Washam was there for all that long. Probably mid-to-late 1992 through early 1993.

Here's the writer's list from March 15, 1993:

Written By

Nancy Curlee

Stephen Demarest

Lorraine Broderick

Nancy Williams Watt

Michael Conforti

Addie Walsh

James Harmon Brown

Barbara Esensten

Patrick Mulcahey

Peggy Schibi

Courtney Simon

Roger Newman

Thanks for that 1993 credits, Dan. It brought me new infomation. :)

I didn't know Addie Walsh was at GL in 1993. It must've been very brief because she went back to Loving in 1993.

And Michael Conforti became a BDW in 1993......not 1994 like I have right now.

"Thanks" is only new information. LOL

Toupsy, wasn't new information. It was from the 20 years worth of GL credits I sent you like two years ago lol

It was because she's out by the next set of credits I have from May 10. By this time Patrick Mulchahey was bumped to Associate HW:

Nancy Curlee

Stephen Demarest

Lorraine Broderick

Nancy Williams Watt

Patrick Mulcahey

Michael Conforti

James Harmon Brown

Barbara Esensten

Lynda Myles

Roger Newman

For what? The 1991/1992 credits? I already had those. :P

I did give you thanks for the GH 1987 credits. :)

"Thanks" is only new information. LOL :P:lol:

I was kidding, of course. Sometimes the credits are right there in front of you, but people give YouTube clips weird names and you can't find them easily.

So since in fact it's old news and you received a "thank you", I would like one, too, for old info. It's that after this:

There's some new information that I didn't know.

and this

ETA: Found the YouTube clip where you got the screen caps on which leads me to more credits! Yes!! :)

I thought I was giving new info. :P I'll consider Toups gave me the "thanks" for finding the YouTube clip that led to more credits.
