I hear so much about this Sherri Anderson. But a Jack smith and Hogan paring sounds nice. I would love to have a team like, Smith, Hogan, Meg Bennett, Beth Mielstien, Brash, Cwickly, and like 2 from yesteryear days and 2 Y&R floaters out there. That would be a kick Ass team. Hell through in LML and Hamner( For you Y&R turns)

I think Jack F. Smith would be a better fit with Hogan/Days than Alden.

A Hogan and Kay team seems so out there. LOL!

Then again, how many outside writers can Days take? They need more writers who have history writing the show, which almost no one of the current Days writing staff has. Bringing back Sheri Anderson should be a top priority. A Sheri/Hogan team would kick ass.

Here's part of an article I found regarding Nancy Curlee, it should be interesting to some of you.

Reader Question: Whatever happened to one of the last great head writers, Nancy Curlee? Was her "GL" experience so bad that she vowed never to return to the biz? Is this one more thing we can blame on JFP, along with Maurice Benard's mumbling, the death of "AW" and the decline of civilization (at least according to some "GH" fans)? What can we do to lure NC back to this once-magnificent genre? — Red

Logan: Nancy Curlee is one of the big "gets" in the soap world, and if she ever returns to the biz it'll be sizzling news indeed.

When she ended her terrific head-writing stint at "GL" in the early '90s — a gig she shared with her husband Stephen Demorest and (of all people) James E. Reilly (now of "Passions" and "Days" fame) — she insisted she wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. I've never met Nancy, but we had some long and amazing chats on the phone back in her "GL" heyday — she is deeply passionate about writing, she's whip-smart, and she has one of those sweet, milky, seductive Southern-belle accents that make us guys go stupid.

In short, I was cuckoo for Curlee. She was coy about the specifics of her exit, but seemed really happy to have a real life. Beverlee McKinsey, the original Alexandra, always credited Nancy with being the best of the best — the writer who brought Alexandra to full, sardonic bloom — and that's quite a kudo. For you newbies, McKinsey was the greatest actress EVER to grace soaps, and she always will be.

Off topic a bit, but directed towards Sylph. Whose writing "style" do you prefer, Pratt's or Guza's?

For much of the time, they are the same person to me. They always wrote stuff together ever since film school, so I really don't know what to tell ya. If I really have to answer, then I'd choose Guza. :D But I don't like him, I'd fire him in a sec from GH and ban him from daytime forever. He writes the most melodramatic (bad melodrama), cliched and campy stuff one can imagine.

What about you, Y&RWorldTurner?

I am hoping that Ed Scott has a good relationship with Kay Alden because I just don't see her staying as an associate head writer at B&B. My prediction is that when Alden's cycle is up, Ed will bring her in to be Co-HW with Hogan (Meg Kelly will either be demoted or fired).

My thoughts exactly. That is why I asked about her contract cycle. Thank you, Toups! :)

Megan already wrote for GL and ruined the show beyond belief in the mid 90's. LOL!

Actually, GL's where she got her soap start as well. She was first an actress on the show, then she was apart of Pam Long's writing team.

Megan is the reason that show sucks right now. Once the deluge of crap starts, it is unstoppable.

Y&RWorldTurner, could you remind us of the stories Curlee penned for GL?

Toups, since I'm not sure you answered the question in Jean Hackanante thread, do you know what's going on with Trent Jones?

Nah, that's the reason I enjoy Guza's work. I'm not saying he's the best daytime dramatic writer, because he's not. But when it comes to melodrama and camp, there are plenty of others who are worse than he is, IMO. I've never, once, regretted jumping up and down for joy once Guza (and Pratt) took over from Megan McTavish in 2002.

True, there are gobs and gobs of stuff that rubs me the wrong way with Guza's blunt and excessive style, but overall, when I watch Guza's GH, I get my fix. Sometimes, I've watched my GH portion of tape before I watch my AMC portion, and don't even watch the AMC portion because I got my melodramatic, campy fix.

I'd like the answer to your question too. :)

I have my portion of cheesy mash followed by Black Forest gâteau followed by chips followed by fizzy Cola bottles by watching B&B. :D Although very different from GH, it shares some of the campiness. Each storyline gallops, with taut one-liners, towards either conclusion or cliffhanger. Love B&B!

I've never regreted jumping up and down from joy once Guza took over from McTrash, too. It's that when I watch his soaps, I have the feeling it's one endless Models Inc. or Melrose Place, an orgy of fluff and nonsense. I know he didn't steer the wheel on those shows, and wrote only several episodes for each, but I think GH deserves better. Who would your dream HW for GH be?

I can't say since I've only been a GH fan for seven years. I wasn't there when it was "good" or critically considered "well written," so I wouldn't know who I'd like to write for GH. I have seen, however, a couple of Labine episodes on Soap Net over the years and enjoyed them -- but that wouldn't be my choice, since I would want Labine or a Labine-style HW for my first love, AMC.

I can already tell that Brown and Esensten aren't capable of writing TRUE AMC stories.

But back to GH, I, personally, wish Michele Val Jean was given a fair shot before JFP demoted her to bring in McTrash.

GH is a hideous mess and has been ever since McTavish was unduly removed to bring back those 2. At least when she was writing it I could actually watch it without wanting to heave heavy objects at something.

Neither one belongs writing daytime unless they're limited to scripts.

Both seemed to be able to put forth decent prime-time scripts. Pratt seemed ok on some prime-time shows. Models, Inc. was a complete stinker with a decent cast. Titans was much worse but still had a competent cast. Melrose Place was also pretty bad much of the time but not at first and not all the time. I would say that as bad as those 2 shorter-lived shows were I would buy them on dvd if they came out mostly for the casts.

Pratt is obsessed with men running around with guns and yelling nonsense. Lots of yelling and macho swaggering.

Guza is obsessed with darkness and nasty characters doing nasty things.

Neither one belongs on GH or any other soap.

But they're not hacks, they're just not suited to daytime. They also can't seem to figure out how to steer a daytime show. Guza seems much better at that than Pratt. But the plotting is stop and go, jumps a lot, and often bad plots vanish without any resolution so other bad plots can start up.

Despite all that the show did improve a tiny bit when Pratt left. But it's still a dark nasty mess. Seemingly increasingly with that disgusting Jax rape mess.

Wonderfully put.

Not Y&RWorldTurner, but here are some info. Curlee penned GL from 1991-1994 and wrote many classic storylines, along with Demorest, Reilly, and Broderick at various combinations through that tenure. Here are just a few:

- They introduced the Grant family: Gilly, David, Vivian, and Charles, and are responsible for the Gilly/Hamp coupling.

- They wrote the creepy Jean Weatheril murder mystery as well as psycho Daniel St. John and Harley/Mallet.

- They wrote the dissolution of Roger/Alex's marraige and Alex's revenge at the country club.

- They wrote the classic 1992 blackout, as well as the Nick/Mindy coupling.

- They wrote the fantastic beginning to Blake and Ross' relationship.

- They penned Maureen's death, which although was a long-term mistake, was an incredibly poignant storyline.

- They introduced Buzz to the canvas.

- They wrote the Frank/A-M/Eleni triangle, probably the only good storyline with Frank Cooper in it lol.

- They wrote Roger/Holly's lovemaking at Cliff House.

- They wrote David and Kat's adventures.

- The had Billy shoot Roger Thorpe at the Country Club (unfortunately with FakeBilly, but that wasn't the show's fault).

- They also began the custody storyline with Peter Lewis (Later Reardon).

That's just a few
