And that mystery person is Kay Alden. Sure she had some stinkers, but years have passed now and I think she KNOWS what her mistakes were and would do a better job. I know that idiot fired Ms. Alden, but I hope they re-hire her and kick LML out on her wacked out arse! LML is too hit and miss, and unfortuantely she has had more misses than hits. Damn, damn, damn just fire LML already. I swear Megan McTavish must be her fricking idol!

BTW fire that AWFUL casting director too.

I want Jack Smith back! I mean, yes, he was responsible for the horrible Sheila storyline, but I still loved most of his storylines. When Smith was writing the show, there would be episodes when I was truly shocked by episode's end. Now, with LML, nothing shocks me.

Hell yes, I'd even take Jack Smith back. And I'm EATING MY OWN MAJOR WORDS with this post

I liked Jack Smith because he was fair to everyone, IMO. Yes, the Fisher/Baldwin/Abbotts took over the show for much of the latter stay as Head Writer. And some say that he didn't write for Victor and Nikki. I have to say that's wrong. He wrote for Victor and Nikki, individually. Nikki was involved with her past and Bobby. Victor was invovled with Newman and his children taking over the company. I didn't have a problem with that. Why does Victor Newman have to be the center of every storyline? He doesn't. He wrote Cassie's death BEAUTIFULLY.

And he could've really went the William Bell route and make Sierra a main cast member, but he didn't. Sierra remained a minor character throughout her stay in GC.

Sierra only remained a minor part of the show because the actress was probably not committed.

The actress was his daughter. I'm sure if he really wanted to write for her she would have become the next Christine Blair.

^yeah I know that but in several magazines she said that she wanted to concentrate on school and her personal life.

The magazies are on the take. They're pretty much ignoring the slump Y&R is in and propping up Phyllis/Nick as the greatest love story since Luke and Laura. Ughh...

I'm extremely pissed about this, but I still am a Latham fan. My problem is just the amount of power she has. I think with some good team effort this could be working, but CBS is basically giving Latham total control and I don't know who could make that work.

When she was on Knots Landing her husband wasn an equal partner with her, so maybe thats why they were so successful? I'm hoping the new year can be something to get excited about.

The main change that would help me is Gloria paying for her crimes, a revival of the Abbotts and Katherine and Jill remaining on the frontburner.

It's weird how things change with the soaps these days. Earlier this year Lynn Marie Latham was tooted as the savior of soaps on all boards. Now it is Hogan Sheffer who is the second coming. It makes you wonder what mistake Hogan is going to make before the fans are calling for his head on a platter.

I don't like this any better than anyone else. I hate when vets get fired. I am still enjoying Y&R at this point, so I am going to give Latham the benefit of the doubt, but she needs to turn her concentration back to the writing and forget the power trip she is on.

Can she even be fired?

I've been assuming that the Bells own Y&R in the same manner Brad Bell runs B&B with an iron fist, but LML seems to have amassed all this power. It's going to her head. Someone should be over her head, ready to deflate that ego.

Just like in sports, there is one thing about absolute power.

When you screw up, you will have no one to blame but yourself. It will all fall on you. I loved how she had went ahead and ended stories that should have ended awhile ago, but now it seems like things are moving way too fast, and everyone has lost the little personal nuances that made their characters unique. Victor would have never had to wonder if Jack had used the money he gave himt to buy Jabot. And, in one day, Billy stole Katherine's vace, pawned it, the ticket was found, he got caught, confessed, Jack offered him the job in Tokyo, he took it, and left the show. Why was brought back in the first place?

That power trip of hers is going to cost Y&R in the long run. Someone in the Bell family better get ahold of this toot sweet, before Days or one of the other soaps catch up.

I enjoyed Jack Smith's run. Even Sheila - there was real suspense around Brenda/Jennifer and Tom with Ashley added in with the Baldwins under threat. I never knew where the story was headed, so I was gripped. So the ending sucked - may have had more to do behind the scenes.

I don't mind LML either. I found Kay Alden boring.

THANK GOD FOR LML!!! Because she's getting rid of Ashley, my soap dream might come true!

EILEEN TO DAYS! EILEEN TO DAYS!!
