Esquire: Scarlett Johansson `Sexiest' Fri Sep 29, 3:40 PM ET

NEW YORK - Scarlett Johansson's hourglass figure and plum movie roles have brought her many fans. Among them, clearly, the editors at Esquire. The magazine has just crowned her "Sexiest Woman Alive."

The 21-year-old actress poses in come-hither garb on the cover and inside pages of the magazine's November issue, on newsstands Oct. 18.

On the cover, she wears a bra and a white Calvin Klein mini-dress; In a series of photos inside (showing her as an "enigmatic trailer-park temptress," the magazine says), she wears cleavage-baring black lingerie paired with an open white robe, among other get-ups.

Johansson, whose screen credits include "The Black Dahlia," "Lost in Translation" and "Match Point," says she would rather be admired for attributes other than sex appeal.

"What about my brain? What about my heart? What about my kidneys and my gallbladder?" she asks, addressing all the hoopla about her curves in an interview in the magazine.

She is no stranger to the paparazzi's cameras, and once flashed a sign proclaiming, "the person taking this picture is harrassing me."

"Apparently I spelled `harass' wrong," she recalls. "It was horrible. I couldn't remember whether it was one `r' or two, and I asked like four people, and they said two."

She is certainly beautiful.....she just has an almost perfect face IMO, but I don't know about the sexiest.

You are by far the most snottiest person I've ever read stuff from... So, some folks have a hard time spelling words, does that make them automatic idiots? Should I call you an idiot for always slamming folks left and right? Why do you always wish to find the negative in something and made some big deal about it, especially when it comes to celebrity figures? I'm just curious....

I think she needs to expand some of her choice in roles. She doesn't show much scope. But I can't take anything away from her in the looks department! She's got hot lips. I like lips. Haha.

Am I getting this straight? Scarlett questions why people/ the media don't focus on "her heart, her brain, her gall bladder" yet she poses half-naked in skin magazines where the emphasis is on her curves?

I don't fault Esquire and other magazines for naming her the sexiest, but Scarlett, come on! If you want people to focus on something other than your boobs, butt, hips and lips, stop posing half-naked.

Sorry, but you lost this round. Jaresa is a cute couples nickname not found in the dictionary. No one can dispute it because there's no correct spelling. Unlike har[!@#$%^&*] there is no official alternative.

I'm sorry if it offends you. I'm a media editor and good spelling is a huge part of my job. I have an almost natural aversion and pure hatred for it.

That said, Scar still isn't the sexiest woman alive.

(Also, to answer your question, I have an aversion to celebrities who take and receive selfish titles like this one -- making gods out of these celebrities and making others feel as lesser beings because they don't 'make the cut.' ) It's self-serving and the reason for so many eating disorders and wasted dollars on plastic surgery. My words may come out wrong but my heart's in the right place.

Why all the hostility? No one here is responsible for awarding her the "title". I tend to agree with you (about Scarlett) but was reluctant to say so.
