Nip/Tuck: 2nd Episode Discussion

I was impressed with this episode. This should have been the season opener. It had so many twists and turns.

I wonder what's happening with the boss lady. Is she being blackmailed by a former lover? Is this mystery woman someone that she used to love or someone she's always hated? Ooohhhh.....and Liz saw the whole thing. THTA should create some really good drama. I wonder whether or not Larry Hagman is going to re-appear this season.

Sean and Annie's blowout and subsequently..Julia and Annie's blowout really threw some good perspective into the show. Real family drama.

Matt and Kimber...one word: *vomits* Gross!

Thad did a really impressive job. I wasn't aware that he had such a great body. And as always, Christian was a complete jackass the whole episode. First, with the Blue Monday chick. Then, trying to coax Sean into cutting off Matt. Then again when he busted down Kimber's door. And lastly, with Thad's character.

I can't wait to see the fallout from the boss lady stuff. I can't wait to see Julia going into labor. From the looks of the previews, this may lead to a few complications.

What did yall think?

I thought it was a great episode but without the season premiere stuff the episode would have made no sense. So I feel both were needed. To even understand why Christian was all of a sudden even sort of attracted to Thad's character (and you could tell he was) you had to see the stuff he went through last week with the apartment and the stuff the psych told him.

I mean I am still reeling from that when he was so extremely homophobic last year - I mean to the full extent - even getting completely turned off when quentin reached over and just touched him during the foursome. So we needed the thing with the psychiatrist last week.

I am with Steve on this one, Christian needed to be shown having thoughts of another guy or at least someone telling him that what his problem with female relationships may actually be, which is being attracted to the same sex.

The episode rocked!

Thad has a nice ass and did a great job on the show, I was impressed.

I was shocked at the end! This show always has so many twists and turns. Who is this hot older lady coming on to the boss lady(whats her name, lol)? Why is this lady getting paid and making out with the boss lady. Then Liz happen to see and watch it all unfold, ah it was great. I dont like next week's previews though, showing Liz getting fired. I hope that isnt permanent.

Matt is such a fucked up character, I cant wait to see what he does next.

Next weeks show looks like another awesome show. Nip/Tuck rarely disappoints and tonight was no different.

Dude, Matt's been "almost 18" since freakin' SEASON ONE!!!

That 25 yr old actor does NOT pass as a teenager.

-Christian stuff was OK, mostly done for the shock value, but pretty good nonetheless.

-I'm enthralled by the effect Connor's birth defect is having on Julia, Sean and Annie. :(

Now this was a great episode of Nip Tuck...Loved the story with Thad's character...damm his butt looked hot..I was watching with a group of friends and one of the girls had us pause it so she could go lick the screen!!!!! I'm really enjoying this story of Christian's sexuality, such a great twist..and they can get so much material out of it..

The stuff with Annie and her hands/the dolls was so intense...Loving how this baby drama is playing out for Sean's family...

I was also so excited to see Kimber..love her..and i'm interested in this scientology story..Way to go Nip Tuck for attacking real social issues...

Finally the twist with the boss was pretty crazy...I'm wondering if the mystery lady might be Larry Hagman's characters first wife? who knows...this is Nip Tuck so anything is possible..And it was great that Liz saw..wonder if she got a little excited!!!!

    • They weren't in town, but Fletcher worked at the paper (and we saw anniversary headlines for the 50th, although I don't remember if Roger was one of them), and I'd think Alex would have at least heard of him due to the damage he did to Spaulding only a few years before her return to the fold. I know I have to remember it's not real life, of course.
    • YES. The videos being uploaded to Spauldingfield are almost to the point where Alan is reintroduced. They're already talking about the guy he pretends to be, and yes, he returns at a masked ball. In fact, that masked ball is almost beat for beat the same as the masked ball where Alex was introduced! Get a new schtick. Before the Kobe era, that's pretty much what they did. Characters would just show up. Maybe other characters would talk about them for a while--the Chamberlains, Tony, Maureen, Andy, Kelly, Carrie--but then they would just appear. When Hope came back, she simply knocked on Bert's door and said something like, "Hi, Grandma, I'm home again." No particular fanfare. Sometimes it would be a bit dramatic--Jennifer and Morgan were introduced when Mike accidentally crashed into their car, for instance, and Alan and Elizabeth were introduced through Jackie's flashbacks when she was remembering giving up Phillip for adoption. Nola was involved in the Roger return. Roger's return in 1980 was very dramatic, but in a way that made total sense. He was trying to kidnap a child, so dressing up as a clown did not seem crazy. The mask bit was not only silly, it didn't even make sense. Alex never knew him, so there was no reason for him to be masked in front of her. And he didn't have to be skulking around SF for months. Again, I will cut Long a little slack--it was not her idea to bring back Roger, she was told to do it. She never wrote for the character. It was something that was not planned. They originally went to Zaslow to offer him the role of Alan. He, of course, turned them down because that was a ridiculous idea, but then he suggested coming back as Roger. At such short notice, it's not strange his return was not handled well.
    • Eh...but neither had been in town. Know the name Roger Thorpe? Sure. But Alex would have gone crazy trying to memorize all of Alan's co-conspirators/lovers/wives and Fletch didn't even know Roger/Adam was on the island, IIRC. But who knew or should've known each other is always a little dicey when people come back to town.
    • I wouldn't call Tomas' cuts a modern cut. They appear to be a slim/extreme slim cut⏤cut slimmer down the sides, with a higher armhole, which pulls up/out, depending on the fit of the person's body. Again, I feel like Ms Featherstone is buying to fit the wrong parts of the body; instead of buying to fit their widest parts (shoulders), she's buying things to fit their middle/waist (which is the easiest to ultimately fix without a complete re-cut), and it shows in the finished product. And the only reason it irks me is because I worked in suit sales for nearly ten years, and I notice these things immediately. The fashion(s) on this soap are miles ahead of three of the four others (I like the fashions from Y&R), but the tailoring is a choice, especially where the men are concerned.
    • There probably would have been a good chance they knew of him, especially with his ties to Spaulding and his being involved in so much scandal (meaning there would be plenty of photos and articles around they both would have seen), but I agree the mask was silly, clearly just a TV moment.

    • I think all the suits are fit too tight, except for Jon Lindstrom's. DC lawyers/doctors are not all LA fashion elites. Yes, maybe Tomas would have a more modern cut to his suit, but an established guy like Bill wouldn't go around looking like that lonely button on his jacket was ready to explode constantly.
    • I do think there's room for optimism, especially with Amazon making enough new episodes to last until December. There's still time for the various players to get their ducks in a row. Guess we'll know soon enough!
    • I do agree it's better to just have people pop back into town. I never understood why Roger needed a mask on an island, when neither Fletcher or Alex would've known who he was. And the vine...sigh. Couldn't he have just been sent crashing through a window or something?
    • When the announcement was first made, I did wonder if other plans were in the works. I guess we can always keep hoping, especially as the show has a small core cast.
