Fox to launch national morning show in '07

Tue Jul 18, 12:35 PM ET

NEW YORK CITY (Reuters) - Fox Television Stations and Twentieth Television on Tuesday said they plan to launch a national morning show on its owned-and-operated stations by January 2007 to compete against the top three U.S. TV networks.

The show will be broadcast live from New York City and feature entertainment and general programming and will be hosted by Mike Jerrick and Juliet Huddy of Fox News Channel's "DaySide" program.

The unnamed show will air from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in most markets, the News Corp.-owned companies said.

U.S. morning broadcast television is led by NBC's top-rated "Today" show, although the defection of its co-host Katie Couric to rival CBS to anchor the evening news broadcast, could open the door to more competition.

Fox Television Stations broadcast group has 35 TV stations in 26 markets covering about 45 percent of U.S. homes.

I loved it when they brought on John McCook and a tour of the B&B set was shown.

Hmm. Good news, I suppose. My local Fox airs local news from 7am-8am, and will be expanding to 7am-9am this September, so it would work nicely with the Fox morning news broadcast.

I liked Good Day Live, too.

Honestly, I expected "The FOX Evening News with Sheperd Smith" before this. I'm surprised FOX hasn't decided to do this to compete with all the other network news broadcasts.

You'd assume the #1 News Network in Cable would want to branch out to whatever they could.

I actually liked those three, Jillian, Steve, and that other lady  And was disappointed in the changes. I just stopped watching until it disappeared.

Now if they would just get a couple soaps ;)

That would be awesome!

That is cool that Fox is getting a morning show. My local fox station is a joke and they don't even have a morning show. I wonder if they will ever get an evening news show.
