I think 1994 or 1995 were the end for soaps. Maybe 1997, for a few of them.

I hit a rut today. I just couldn't defend the genre anymore. Watching those episodes made me realize how much we've lost over the last 16-18 years.

I got so sick of it that I left around 2002, 2003. The worst of that era is now totally dominant today. I just hope the genre will go on somewhere, and not in the "primetime shows are soaps, they just don't call themselves that", but in the 3-5 day a week form.
